In The Catholic Church

They arrived at a catholic church built many years ago in east Fosterland.

Amanda, Jane, Jake and David jumped down from the truck as Fraser and Deborah was hopping down from the front seat.

“This is it?” Jane asked after they all stood in front of the church, staring at the building. The yellow painted church has a very big black gate and tiny wooden windows.

“Yes….” Deb sighed and exhaled.

“So….w-what are we gonna do now?” David stammered.

“Are you scared? This is a church and a church is where Christians hides when in trouble” Deb asked and chuckled.

“You brought us here to hide us?”

“You can say that again”

“Like play hide and seek?” Fraser chuckled.

“I brought y’all here to end everything, let’s go” Deb replied. Amanda looked at Jake and followed Deb.

“I hope this goes well’ Fraser sighed heavily and exhaled.

“Never think negative, it’s dangerous”

“Ain’t talking to you, I hope this goes well” he exhaled and Jane sighed.

Deborah dropped the back-pack she was carrying, unzipped it and brought out a black disposable bag containing a white holy powder.

“Come on y’all, form a circle on the altar with the color candles and lit them all up” she said, opening the bag.

“We on it” Jane responded, heading towards the position where the candles were packed.

“What you wanna do with that?” Fraser asked, grabbing some of the candles from Jane.

“Hold” Jane gave some to David and Amanda.

“You will know when the need comes” Deb replied Fraser.

“Give me a hand Jake” she called Jake.

Jake rushed up to her and bent down, holding the black disposable bag so she can pour a big quantity of the powder into a white bowl she picked in the church.

“I don’t actually know what you are planning to do” Jake said slowly to her.

“We will pour the white powder round the burning candles and stay in the middle”

“Like in ‘The countdown’?” Jake asked.

“Oh! you’ve watched the movie?” Deb scoffed.

“Yeah….that’s the idea” she added with an imperceptible chuckle.

“You think that will work?” Jake asked.

“No harm in trying”

“You kidding me?” Jake scoffed.

“The lights are burning” Amanda said aloud. Deborah looked at the altar and saw how the candles were circled in front of the altar.

“Deb…”

“Trust me on this, I have done it before and it worked out perfectly” Deb ensured him.

“He will soon be here to hunt us” Deb added.

Fraser looked at Deb and brought his eyes back to Jane and Amanda after a soft exhale.

“Don’t you guys have a bad feeling about this? Just like me?” Fraser asked.

“We gotta trust her, we have no other choice” Jane replied, packing a long rope curled at the pillar beside the altar.

“I’m scared..I-I really don’t know what is gonna happen if things goes wrong”

“Remember Fraser, no negative thoughts” Amanda held his shoulder.

“Do you believe that we will be safe?” he asked Amanda.

“Yes we will” Amanda replied.

“We all need to believe that okay” she added and Fraser nodded in.

“It’s time” Deb cried.
