Teacher Noctis {1}

Lumine

Paimom and I arrived back at the Fortress of Meropide. We were planning to help Neuvilette with a case regarding a threatened Melsuine called Kiara. However, Neuvilette insisted we go to the infirmary in Meropide, where Noctis would be waiting for us.

He didn't tell us anything other than it was important and that Noctis request me specifically. I was brought away from my train of thought by the voice of Paimon.

"Hey, Lumime? Have you thought about why Noctis would want to meet us here. Paimon has no clue why.." Now that I think about it, Paimon's right.

"I don't know either, I suppose we will figure it out once we get there."

---

Entering the infirmary I saw a lone person laying on an inclined bed, they were sitting up and reading through a book calmy. As I got closer the figure became clearer, it was Noctis, however his body was wrapped in bandages from head to toe.

"Noctis! What happened?" Paimon shouted as she quickly floated towards him, in a haste I followed suit, running behind Paimon.

"I'm fine, I will heal, but this does bring me to the topic of why I requested Neuvilette to bring you here." His voice was calm showing no discomfort or pain despite the amount of bandages covering his body. Waiting for him to continue I stayed silent and focused.

Before talking he directed his attention to me, locking our eyes. "I found your brother." In an instant I felt my heart skip a few beats and then right after a loud pounding resounded I'm my head. He continued to talk and I listened with upmost focus.

"Though I do not where he is now, I may be able to draw him out at some point." Before he could continue I quickly shouted out.

"How!"

"Well, you see, I believe he's always watching you, at least when he thinks your going to be in danger anyway.." His voice was steady and calm as he seemed to recall something that made him cringe slightly.

"The day I attacked you, when I was going home, I was attacked by your brother." He paused for a second scanned his body and looked back at my with a blank, slightly irritated face. "Hence these annoying injuries."

"So you're telling Paimon that The Travellers sibling was capable of battling a Sovereign?" Her eyes were widened and her voice conveyed astonishment.

"His strength was rather impressive, even if I didn't have my authority." He paused and then looked back towards me, "Which is why if I'm going to try and lure him out again, you will have to wait until I get the Electro Gnosis off of the Tsaritsa."

"Paimon doesn't understand? Why do you need the Gnosis?" I rolled my eyes and spoke towards Paimon, "Were you not listening to Neuvilette at all? The Gnosis is the stolen authority and power of the Dragons"

"Paimon gets that bit... mostly. But why do you need the Gnosis to lure out Lumine's sibling if you already did it once without?"

"So I can overpower him and give that little shit and smack round the back of the head."

"Ooh! And I will give him one for leaving me behind after fighting the Abyss Herald!" I said with a small amount of hope building inside of me.

'With one of the Sovereigns helping me surely Aether couldn't run away again.' I thought to myself confidently.

"I can't help right away though... I still need to recover, then help Arlecchino with the prophecy, report back to Tsaritsa. After that I can help though."

"Well Paimon and the Traveller are also going to helping against the prophecy so that's alright." I nodded in response, "I've waited this long already, surely a little more couldn't hurt."

"Oh! And how could I forget, I still need to find Childe."

'I forgot about that leprechaun...' I turned to Paimon whose expression was also blank, 'seems we all forgot...'

"I'm sure he's fine, I had a dream about him." A mischievous smile spread across Noctis' face. "Dreaming about your crush are you? How does a dream assures you he's safe anyway." I felt my face heat up.

"it's not like that! I have visions because o have his vision!" Noctis' mischievous smile only grew and his eyes gleamed amethyst. "So he loves you so much he trusted you with his Vision? How sweet."

"Ugh! I said it's not like that." I said while stomping my foot on the floor. "Paimon also thinks it's like that." Noctis quickly responded, "I think your right, after all she's pouting and crimson-red."

"Enough! It's not like that!" I screamed as I felt my face heating up even more, Paimon and Noctis were both in hysteria at my suffering.

"Alright, alright. Enough is enough I suppose. Noctis said trying while wiping a tear of laughter from his eye.

"So! How long until you're recovered?" Noctis was confused at first and then seemed to realise something and answered. "I should be able to leave the infirmary in a few minutes actually." Both Paimon and I had awestruck expressions and waited for him to continue with intrigue.

"You see, moments before you came here Sigewinne went of to find some final medication she can give me before sending me off." I blinked a few times before realising I wasn't dreaming.

"How did you recover so quickly..?" He seemed confused but answered nonetheless.

"Well, I recovered enough to leave not to fight, that will probably be a few days.." I shook my head, "I mean how did you recover so quick in general.

"Oh!" his eyes glimmered a deep purple as he realised what I meant. "Well, the same way I healed you."

I thought back to the beat down Noctis gave me on our first meeting, it was quite unpleasant and I can't remember much except from the explosive pain, but now that I think about it, even for me I recovered exceptionally quick.

"Your electro... So you're a healer and are still this strong? What Artifacts do you run!?"

"Huh?"

"Never mind.."

"Anyway, are you really a healer."

"Uhm? No, why do word it like that, like we are a part of a game.." He asked me and I starred into his soul.

"Never mind me.."

"I heal my self and others through the use of Electro energy, practically making my self immortal and being able to heal any injury on another person." He stopped and seemed to think back on something. "However, if I run out of Electro, people like your brother can deal lots of damage and kill me."

"So as if It wasn't enough you being one of the strongest beings in teyvat you're also immortal. Paimon thinks its rigged."

"I've heard The Traveller can use multiple elements. You probably borrow your power from the stolen dragon authority."  I couldn't tell if he was angry so I decided to apologies.

"Sorry? I guess?"

"No need to be sorry, it means I can probably teach you my self-healing technique, although watered-down." Paimon's eyes glistened with awestruck.

"So you're telling Paimon you can make Lumime even stronger!" He nodded and smiled.

"With your travels becoming even more dangerous then they already are. I'm sure this skill will become an essential part or your abilities."

"Thank you! This will help me so much on my journey, However? Will I even need it, you're gonna help lure out my brother after all." His expression contorted slightly into one of doubt and worry.

"We have no guarantee it will work, so it'd best I do teach the this technique." I nodded and smiled towards him. "I understand you worries and I'm thankful you will teach me your technique."

---

Noctis began to explain in high detail how his technique worked. Within myself I switched from the Hydro element to the Electro one, causing a deep glow – the same as Noctis' eyes, to be exuded from my clothes.

As he went into detail about the complexity of this technique I couldn't help but stand in awe and admire the technicalities of it.

He first explained that unlike using a normal element where you just feel for the energy, tell it what to do, visualise how it does it and then allow the energy to exit your body. For this use of energy you have to first feel for energy and then visualise it's source within your body. Once you've done this you have to, like normal tell the energy what to do. In this case heal.

So far it doesn't sound to bad, but after that you have to control the energy build up within your body and allow it to follow through your blood, he said this is important because every cell in the body is next to a blood vessel. The energy during its course has to be constantly controlled by your mind as its healing you.

This meant while you would fight someone, you would also have to constantly keep in your mind the uninterrupted flow of energy. If it was interrupted even once the flow would break, releasing the energy and stopping your healing.

By far the most difficult thing I've ever tried to learn...

"Ugh! Noctis your telling me you can minting this during all your battles?" He laughed and then spoke.

"It seems hard right now but you haven't even taken into account all the distracting emotions you will get in a real fight." He was right, in an actual fight I will also have emotions such as fear, adrenaline, anger, and probably even more. Each of these will be another distraction that I'd eventually have to learn to ignore if I wanted to master this 'immortality' technique.

"Paimon is getting a headache just listening to the explanations, don't tell Paimon you have even more complicated techniques than this.." I looked towards Noctis slightly worried for my own sanity if he did have anymore.

He rubbed the back of his head nervously, "Well about that, I do have one more."

"Please tell me its less complicated..." He shook his head and answered simply, "probably about three times more complicated..."

In that moment I felt like I was going to die. But in the corner of my mind a lingering curiosity began to grow and despite my own dismay, I asked.

"What is it..."

He then explain his second technique which was used to increase his reaction time.

This process involved something he called the central nervous system. In as simple terms as I could put it.

Electro energy would exit the source and travel to the central nervous system within the body, for the technique to work electro energy had to constantly be circulating through the central nervous system which consisted of the brain and spine.

Like normal, when the "sensory receptors" in the central nervous system detected something like pain or danger in general they would quickly send an impulse along the neurons and back to the brain or spinal cord causing you to move or dodge. This was a reflex.

Noctis said most reflexes don't involve the brain and just the spinal cord which is why they are so fast. However for fights against powerful enemies they still aren't fast enough.

When electro energy enters the central nervous system if forms shorter paths and boost the speed of the nerve impulses. The paths made by electro energy allowed the nerve impulses to skip certain parts of their path, resulting in further impulses. Noctis also informed me that using this technique no reflexes or reactions involve the brain.

This means only the spine is involved and it lessen the stress. He said if every high speed reaction was reported back to the brain along with the spine, it would still be fast, because of the electro – However it would over load the brain as their would be too much input for it to handle.

"Paimon thinks Paimon's head is going to explode." I turned to Paimon and nodded, "I agree this is way too much info." Noctis laughed.

"While this technique is important, the regeneration is much more so important right now."

"Huh? Why's that?" I asked with the tilt of my head.

"Well, if you can regenerate any wound it doesn't matter that your getting hit, other than the pain."

"Paimon thinks Noctis is a masochist..."

"Lumime agrees..." I said with a slow nod and wide eyes.

(A/N) I haven't written anything in a few days so I feel like their is a lot of mistakes in this chapter..

Especially my nervous system knowledge... It's I'm my opinion the easiest topic in biology but, I haven't done it in ages so I'm not sure if it's correct.

Anyway hope you enjoyed.
