Chapter 8 - Training

Phew! She's still here, I made it! I landed in front of her dorm room and lightly knocked on the door. After a brief pause, the door swung open, revealing Rosalind on the other side.

"I thought you weren't going to show up."

"Well, you didn't exactly tell me your room number, so." I shrugged.

I entered the room and took a seat in one of the chairs.

"So we're not training here, are we?"

Rosalind approached the window and slid it open, inviting a gentle breeze and moonlight into the room.

"Follow me."

Rosalind jumped out of the window and landed on the ground, waiting for me to follow suit. I dropped down and landed beside her, dusting some dirt off of my clothes.

"So where to?"

"To my mansion."

"Alright then."

[Haste]

Rosalind took off in a sprint, her pace quick and way better than before. Using [Haste] myself, I ran after her, the wind brushing against my face. After a considerable span of running, the outlines of her mansion began to take shape. Our steps reverberated in a steady rhythm along the path, gradually closing the distance between us and the mansion. As we approached, the intricate design of the mansion became more discernible, its lavish features, and expansive grounds coming into view. Finally, we arrived at the... the... imposing? entrance of her residence.

"Wow, your mansion is more....exquisite than others?"

"I come from a family with higher status, after all."

"I gave you one compliment, calm down."

The mansion's interior unfolded like a tapestry of lavish design and refined aesthetics. Upon stepping inside, my gaze was immediately drawn to the soaring ceilings adorned with intricate chandeliers that bathed the surroundings in a warm and inviting glow. Elaborate columns framed the hallways, exuding an air of timeless elegance, while ornate tapestries adorned the walls, depicting scenes of past eras.

(Yeah, guess who learned a couple of new words today)

The opulent furnishings showcased a seamless blend of opulence and comfort. Plush velvet couches and intricately carved wooden tables adorned the sitting areas, inviting guests to recline in regal luxury. The air was filled with the soft scent of polished wood and the delicate aroma of fresh flowers that graced every corner.

Ok, maybe that's enough complimenting, especially in this era when basically any royalty had a similar design to this.

"So uh, where are we training?"

"Follow me."

She took me to a room that had a distinct character. The room was bathed in pure white, creating an atmosphere of simplicity and serenity. However, what stood out the most to me was this weird golden symbol that was plastered on both the walls and the ceiling.

"Quick question, what are these symbols?" I asked, pointing at one of the symbols on the wall.

"Are you that uncultured?"

"You want to talk about uncultured, you little shit?"

She rolled her eyes like the...actually, I had the perfect roast, but I'm feeling generous.

"They're called runes. They were made by the Voltsworth kingdom¹."

Wow. Initially, I thought that these symbols were scriptures, but these are two different things.

"Voltsworth kingdom? You mean the same kingdom under attack from demons?" I asked in curiosity.

Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that? Like any other generic magic world, there ALWAYS have to be demons.

"Looks like you're not that uncultured."

"I'll break every bone in your body."

As she shut the door behind us, the intricate golden symbols came to life, emanating a radiant glow. Swiftly, the room underwent a transformation, and suddenly, I stood upon a verdant expanse of green plains.

"Illusion magic? Your parents must have paid a lot for this." I smirked.

She rolled her eyes once again.

"Let's begin." She said, pulling out her sword from her scabbard.

"Bring it on!"

[Haste]

[Body Enhancement]

[Barrier (slim)]

I rushed towards her with powerful velocity. As I got closer, a bright blue light emanated from her sword, mana flowing through it. She swiftly swiped her sword down at me. However, I quickly blocked it, concentrating my mana into my arm. The impact knocked us back, as impressive as it was to even knock me back.

"Looks like you haven't been slacking." I chuckled.

"Of course. I will never be humiliated again!"

"Let's see about that."

[Flame Arrow]

A cluster of six fiery arrows materialized behind me, their flickering flames dancing in the air. I pointed my finger towards Rosalind, the six Flame arrows shooting out towards her at incredible speed.

Rosalind furrowed her eyebrows before dashing back, nimbly dodging one. Then she dodged another one, ducking under it. It quickly, however, came back. Unfortunately, she was able to block it in time. Two other flame arrows came dashing in, but she swiftly sliced one with her sword and jumped over the other one.

"Try and dodge this one."

The last one dashed in like the rest. Like the others, she dodged it once again. However, the flame arrow split into six tiny flame spheres that surrounded her.

"What!?"

"𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙢."

The spheres of flame erupted with a radiant explosion. Their incandescent cores ignited the air around them, painting the grass plains with hues of orange and red.

"Well, that was an intelligent twist. Good job, me!"

Soon, the smoke faded, leaving a bruised and slightly charred Rosalind. Little does she know, that I'm not done yet.

"I hope you didn't think I would go easy on you just because we're training." I grin.

"I'm not done yet."

Rosalind rushed towards me, holding her sword near her waist.

[Clairvoyance]

Rosalind released a rapid succession of slashes, her sword slicing through the air in a blur of motion. However, I seamlessly evade each of her strikes. I sidestepped, ducked, and weaved, effortlessly seeing all of her attacks and dodging.

On her last attack, I jumped into the air, doing a sick backflip.

"Damn it...I still don't get how you can dodge all of my attacks!" She frowned.

"Oh, I have an even better trick up my sleeve!"

"And what would that be?"

[Illusion Magic + Life Magic]

I pulled out 1 wooden dragon sculpture about the size of my arm from my pocket, throwing it onto the ground. It quickly roared to life, flying towards Rosalind swiftly. I raised my hand, casting some spells onto the wooden dragon.

[Body Enhancement]

[Haste]

"H-How did you..!?"

Rosalind was shocked and didn't have any time to react before she got swooped up by the dragon. It grabbed her by the shirt before throwing her into the air. Quickly, I flew into the air and grabbed her by the leg before throwing her back to the ground.

[Flight]

"Now that I have a higher level of Life Magic, I can even do this!"

She crashed into the ground, destroying the ground around her. She slowly got up, holding her head in pain.

"You'll regret that!"

"Will I?"

1.Voltsworth kingdom is one of the six kingdoms in my novel. That kingdom is mainly about technology or production and is the reason why scriptures, and other items exist.

(Question of the day: What are some novels that you think had a great concept but poor execution? Comment and I'll prob remake it))

Two more chapters being released simultaneously next time, and my goal is to have them be at least 2000 words this time. Also school sucks man
