PHARIS: Confinement

After they took a blood sample from Pharis and tested it, Penelope's men brought Pharis to the basement of Deviant's building where all the human subjects are hidden. They are confined in different kinds of rooms depending on their capability. Most of the kids confined inside are about Pharis age or younger.

Some have inhuman features because of the experiments that are done on them. These kids are orphans. Some were abducted and some agreed with the experiment because they were promised a huge amount of money. They are all tricked by Deviant. A lot of kids had died because of the several inhuman experiments that are done to them.

Pharis never imagine that her mom is capable of doing a horrible thing like this. Seeing the kids suffer in their small cages makes her fume in anger. Her mom is the worst, she thought.

The men threw her in a metal room with five people inside. A guy who's just the same age as her and four kids. They are separated by metal cages.

She grasped the thick metal bars that are confining her in the metal room she's in. She doesn't plan to just sit there and wait. There must be a way to get out of there.

Pharis closed her eyes and try to feel the chemicals combined to create such strong metal. She can feel the energy slowly releasing from her bare hands. Melting the iron bars is the only way to escape this prison. It is the only way she can do to save these kids. It's been twenty minutes but still no avail.

The children watched her as she tries to melt the iron bars. They aren't expecting anything from her because they think they won't be able to escape the place because they've tried a lot of times. They don't even know how long they are in the place. Some of the kids are already there when they were a baby because they were abducted.

Pharis can sense the negativity in the room, but she refuses to give up hope. She needs to find a way out. She tried to focus and release as much heat as she could. She didn't realize the heat was already spreading throughout the room because the walls were made of metal, making the room extremely hot.

"Hey, you! Stop it," the guy in the room yelled making her notice that the kids are starting to cry because of the heat. She heaved a deep sigh and brushed her hair harshly. That is when she realized why her mom put her there. Penelope knew that she'd use her ability to escape so she thought of confining Pharis with the other captive children so she can control her daughter.

Penelope has a hint that her husband Manuel had an ability to control fire that is why she decided to put her daughter in the metal room so she wouldn't be able to use her power to escape. She knows that her daughter wouldn't risk the lives of other people for herself just like her father.

Pharis turned her gaze to the metal bars. This one is definitely not iron bars because she knew that she surpassed the iron bar's melting point but this metal didn't even have any changes. The heat reached the whole room yet it only darkened. What kind of metal did they use? She thought.

She stepped backward and looked at the metals surrounding her.

"Is it possible that this room was made of chromium? No, I think it's something stronger. They have my DNA now and they have tested my ability which means they have studied what refractory metal could resist the highest temperature I could produce. Could it possibly be Tungsten? Tungsten may be the highest refractory metal but it can break in an impact and these bars are pretty strong. I'm pretty sure this is not titanium, the strongest metal since its melting point is nearly 1,700 Celcius so it must have melt now," she thought to herself.

She felt hopeless but she still has to find another way. She's about to sit on the floor when she remembered that it is extremely hot. Pharis stood up irritatedly and kicked the bars which she soon regretted as she groaned and cursed in pain.

"We've tried everything we can, sister," a ten years old girl said. She's imprisoned in metal bars which is a cage not that far from Pharis. Her voice is full of sadness and she seems pretty hopeless.

"We are powerless here," the other girl beside her said.

The boy who's in the next cage spoke, "These metal bars are too strong for us. Besides, they are watching us through surveillance. If they saw us doing something to escape, they will immediately head here to punish us." He turned her gaze at the ceiling causing the light to flash in his eyes making his innocuous and angelic light yellow eyes visible. He seemed a little older than the other kids.

All the kids inside including the guy are wearing paired white shirts and pants with the small logo of Deviant on the left chest. These people are just normal humans that aren't born with natural power like Pharis'.

"We heard you're her daughter," the guy who yelled earlier suddenly spoke. He's looking at Pharis sternly while crossing his arms. He's talking about her mother.

The guy looked like someone who always caused trouble because of his aura. He brushed up his greasy black hair using his fingers. He's one of the first batch subjects of Deviant. Well, in fact, he's the only one left. He hates Penelope Hundrel and all that works for her. Because of them, all of his friends who just hoped for a better life died in vain.

That is the reason why he despises anyone who's related to Hundrel. Even Pharis. She sighed and cast an uninterested glance at him. "Would a real mother incarcerate and use her own daughter?" she said in a monotonous voice.

She placed her right hand in her skirt pocket and scanned the room. Her priority now is to find a way out to escape. "She's not my mother and she will never be so, don't try to blame me because of your misfortune."

Pharis doesn't want to waste time with a random guy who knows nothing. She doesn't even want to remember that Penelope is her mother.

"Her blood is still coursing through your veins. Seeing you makes my blood boil," he snarled causing Pharis to glare at him.

She really wants to rip his sharp tongue off.

He put down down his arms and folded his fingers towards his palm. "Your mom killed my only family left. She killed my friends.," he gritted his teeth while looking at her in disgust. He wanted to make her suffer too just like what her mom did to her friends. Seeing her makes him want to avenge them at least before he die on the hands of Deviant.
