Manuel Hundrel: Flames

Meanwhile, Pharis looked at the door after her father left. She knows something's wrong and wonders if he's hiding something. After taking a bath, she dressed up and headed downstairs. As usual, only the maids are around.

She saw the oldest maid cleaning the table in the dining area and approached her.

"Granny?" she uttered, taking the old woman's attention.

The old woman turned around and smiled at her. "You are already awake, sweetheart. Aren't you going to school?" she asked but this scenario isn't unusual. There were times that Pharis would not attend school saying she already knew that they were teaching and she wasn't lying. That is the reason why she accelerated in the next grade.

Pharis shook her head and replied, "I won't go to school today, granny. I already told daddy."
