Gene System

Blake is a young man who has had to suffer through devastation over and over again losing more than just an arm. With no power of his own he could barely stand a chance against others or even be deemed useful by the military. All he can do is accept his sister's help bitterly knowing he can't return it to the same effect. After a series of events a meeting with near death shocks him to his very core changing his life forever. Awakening a hidden element buried deep within his genetic code. The Gene System, an advanced complex genetic technology used to expand and improve the overall potential and direction of evolution for the user's genetic code naturally mapping out and directing where the user should go with the growth they obtain. Not much else is known, only that few on every planet are given one through unknown means. The current state of the world is racked with unbridled chaos as the military fruitless attempts to stop the atrocities committed by the organisation known as the Gene hunters. Seeking to steal and splice any genetic data they can get their hands on by whatever psychotic means whether it be dissection, slow harvesting or cloning ethics are not a concern. Hundreds of thousands have been affected by the gene hunters including Blake's family. Some are never seen again, just used as cows for genetic harvesting over and over again until they dried up never to see their families again. Changes have begun to sprout in the background of earth leading to more and more mysterious events occurring, genetic powers becoming stronger, animals becoming mutated and evolving faster than normal generational lines. All the while in the background an unknown force beyond human comprehension lurks just beyond the veil waiting patiently for the time to run out and indulge in his planet level feast devouring all life in sight. Blake will give his all to overcome these brutal circumstances by whatever means. No matter the pain, suffering or loss he will continue to go forward no matter the cost. Failure isn't a devastation but a stepping stone in his larger goal. In his pursuit to build his strength he wont forget where he came from guarding the weak as someone who grew from that. Seeing the lack of care or acknowledgement to the majority viewed as weak in the military disdain makes him step up as the leader needed to change the structure of this world for the better. In the weak there is strength which Blake knows all too well. His reason to go forward is to become the man he wants to be. The only thing that truly terrifies is the idea of letting it all go, giving up and betraying himself and his potential.

Resistance

"I told you Blake, RUN" The boy's annoyance bubbles through his oncoming fear.

"You know me, I can handle these….. Guys". A false confidence tries to fill his shaky voice. Terror fills his expression as he tries to form a smile through it all.

"I won't let them hurt you….. I WON'T". His eyes gleam with resolve, burning itself into his mind.

Running forward with all he has, a new arm has already been regenerated. Curling the freshly formed fingers into a fist. A heavy blow is delivered to one of the hunters.

"Even if I'm terrified, I refuse to sit by and let them hurt you. Not while I can do something". A wide nervous grin breaks through his terror. Standing strong through the agony beating him down.

"You have others to protect Blake"

"Now GO!". Despair yells out through his voice. His body continues to move through the waves of primordial fear, not yielding to their screams.

A thick slash meets his waist, severing his torso in two. Flesh starts to stitch back together immediately.

"DAMIEN!" A blood curdling scream finds its way into the waking world along with Blake.

Green eyes rapidly open in terror only to be met with a familiar hovering screen chiming away as usual. Impatiently spamming him with new notifications.

"What the hell happened to me?" Blake says to himself as he rubs his face. His awareness begins to sharpen as an unfamiliar ceiling comes into view.

Brushing his hand over his chest. They're met with fresh scars. Jagged teeth marks scatter across his torso. A purple bruise covers the right side of his face. The system continues to chime away aggressively, forceful gaining his attention.

"I levelled up"? Memories of the exam break their way through delivering the disturbing events within his mind. Flashes of his possession become clearer with each second.

Horror of the event filled his mind. The previous detachment makes itself evident and disorientating for him as his hand finds its way into the strands of his hair.

"Am I even Blake anymore"? He says, the confusion is getting harder and harder with each day. The image of himself becoming less and less understandable.

''Would I have even have passed without that things help?''. His self doubt sprouts and starts to circulate within his mind.

"I have to get stronger. I can't let this thing win". Clenching his fist digging his nails into the flesh.

"It's already leagues ahead of me". He says his determination clashes against the horror and worry of the event.

"Status" Immediately the screen opens up displaying all of Blake's stats and body signals.

''I was very close to black out after that fight, so I need to start investing into my health pool. It might not just be death waiting for me below 1HP".

Immediately the feeling of an artificial rush flows throughout his body strengthening and changing certain parts at the microscopic level.

The neurons in his mind firing with a slighter precision than normal. As his muscular structure becomes more and more intricate almost weaving together.

With a deep exhale he adjusts to the rapid restructuring of his body. Stepping onto his feet now he draws the curtains of his bed, opening his view to a familiar ward. Blue hair sticks out of the pristine white room as a familiar figure meets him.

"Azure"!

"You weren't kidding about being manned for all the exams". Blake comments through his exhaustion.

"I swear kid, your vitality scares me the more I treat you". She says no change in her flat tone.

"I haven't seen anyone with this much stored inside"

"You healed even faster than before". Her cold tone hinting at a sense of astonishment. A familiar expressionless following her voice not drawing away from the Holo-screens as usual.

"My question despite all of this" She says her unwelcoming eyes pierce through her ocean waves of hair.

"Is just how do you know Damien" A fierce curiosity pours out of her. As her gaze locks with Blakes.

"He's been gone for years; nobody outside his immediate circle should know him". The holo-screens disappear as she approaches him closer now.

"So where do you fit in"? A stern tone follows her inquisition of this answer.

"He was my best friend"

"I lost him in the massacre 4 years ago". Blake says. A sadness tries to form again only for it to hollow out and collapse in itself.

"He forced me to escape in the slew of chaos"

"Why am i not surprised he would always do reckless resolutions to dire situations"

"I kept telling him a cool mind will let him keep his head". She says her flat tone emitting a sense of irritation.

"You must've been the one he constantly went on about, always had to shut him up. What was it you two did again roof hopping". Nostalgia brims throughout. The fondness of the past getting the better of her.

"So many stories of your injuries and adventures through Boreal"

"I can see you've inherited his recklessness" She says disdainfully.

"Many days of teaching him how to heal his own injuries instead of needing me".

"I kept telling him to prioritize himself" Her own grief starts to leak its way out into her voice.

A storm of emotions tries to break through Blake hearing the past. Only for it to fall short allowing only the eye of that storm to center around him. Sorrow refuses itself.

"Yet despite all that he would always ignore that warning". Tears cascade down her thin face. The waves of hair spotting up some of the forming tears.

"He was my student" She says as anger and determination boil inside her voice through the slew of tears.

"I haven't given up on him yet, there's still hope".

"I can still feel his dimming energy signal despite all this time" Young pale hands wipe away her tears leaving only for her goal to remain.

"I will get him back, the military has already failed me once i cant trust them"

"So I will do it myself". She says making her dissatisfaction clear as crystal.

"I've waited long enough".

"So Blake, will you help me get him back"? She says as her eyes lock with Blakes showing the remnant tears.
