Gene System

Blake is a young man who has had to suffer through devastation over and over again losing more than just an arm. With no power of his own he could barely stand a chance against others or even be deemed useful by the military. All he can do is accept his sister's help bitterly knowing he can't return it to the same effect. After a series of events a meeting with near death shocks him to his very core changing his life forever. Awakening a hidden element buried deep within his genetic code. The Gene System, an advanced complex genetic technology used to expand and improve the overall potential and direction of evolution for the user's genetic code naturally mapping out and directing where the user should go with the growth they obtain. Not much else is known, only that few on every planet are given one through unknown means. The current state of the world is racked with unbridled chaos as the military fruitless attempts to stop the atrocities committed by the organisation known as the Gene hunters. Seeking to steal and splice any genetic data they can get their hands on by whatever psychotic means whether it be dissection, slow harvesting or cloning ethics are not a concern. Hundreds of thousands have been affected by the gene hunters including Blake's family. Some are never seen again, just used as cows for genetic harvesting over and over again until they dried up never to see their families again. Changes have begun to sprout in the background of earth leading to more and more mysterious events occurring, genetic powers becoming stronger, animals becoming mutated and evolving faster than normal generational lines. All the while in the background an unknown force beyond human comprehension lurks just beyond the veil waiting patiently for the time to run out and indulge in his planet level feast devouring all life in sight. Blake will give his all to overcome these brutal circumstances by whatever means. No matter the pain, suffering or loss he will continue to go forward no matter the cost. Failure isn't a devastation but a stepping stone in his larger goal. In his pursuit to build his strength he wont forget where he came from guarding the weak as someone who grew from that. Seeing the lack of care or acknowledgement to the majority viewed as weak in the military disdain makes him step up as the leader needed to change the structure of this world for the better. In the weak there is strength which Blake knows all too well. His reason to go forward is to become the man he wants to be. The only thing that truly terrifies is the idea of letting it all go, giving up and betraying himself and his potential.

"Kiara, are you okay can you hear me" Blake's voice pours out from the blue slime he's coughing up. Rows of teeth are screaming out from the move he just performed.

Unfamiliar Panic manages to surface and distract him from the pain. Seeing the brutal scene before him. Spikes stick out of her as blood starts to seep to the surface of the punctures.

"I'M NOT LOSING ANYONE ELSE"! Blake says, his arm glowing brighter and brighter.

Moving faster than flesh now. His arm pulls out each individual spike with incredible precision and his electro limb goes into overdrive from the demand of the panic. A minute goes by and the last spike is thrown to the side.

Blood already begins frying off his limb. Pressing his finger to each wound. The heat of his energy knits the cells and flesh slowly back together as burn patches cover each bored hole.

''I need to get us out of here. My flat is the closest. Who knows if any more of them will show up? I need to get us out of sight first'' Blake's thoughts crash together as his actions already start forming.

Holding Kiara in his arms Blake gains as much speed as he can handle. Intense green starts to trail behind him as usual. Traffic seemingly made way for him once. Breaking through the streets and alleys. Speed wobbles start to dominate his legs, as he lowers his stance to accommodate.

"The....wind...its….. So comforting" A smile breaks through her loose awareness. Hey hazel eyes look up at Blake before she slips into unconsciousness once again.

10 Minutes before

Red hair follows a strong stride. An optimistic grin fills his expressions. A fireball skates its way along his fingers, being flicked back and forth rapidly.

Walking up to the disheveled complex. "Wow this is the accommodations they are given" Disappointment permeates into his voice.

"How are they meant to keep going and see their own potential if they are treated like this? His hand brushes over the cracked wood of the staircase. Worn out old materials compose the whole complex.

''They're even using materials like these, this is wood, we've long left that era. Why is this still being used''?

''We have so many metals at our disposal and we give them this? Is this meant to be an odd sort of encouragement''? Thoughts keep boiling in Pyres mind at the injustice of what hes witnessing.

"This place is already falling apart". Retracting his hands now to not inspire more damage to form.

''Why have we resorted to these ways? It wasn't long ago we were all united. That incident really left a cracking fracture everywhere.

''Hell, they could have just used steel for this''. His irritation now starts to reach a boiling point from these squalor conditions provided to students.

''No wonder so many just give up''. Past students, lessons and spars flood his mind. The movement of time claiming it all either death or defeat.

"I wonder why he hasn't yet" He says the recent participation still takes space in his mind. The scene continues to play out. Over and over again.

"He pushed me farther than most. If he was just given some help. His fire would burn bright"

"I hope you use this chance wisely kid, i want to see you go far". Walking up to one of the doors now. It stands out like night and day. With the different usage of materials for it.

*Knock Knock*

The door slowly opens allowing a view into the humble abode. A petite girl emerges in the doorway. Deep black hair flows down her shoulders. A familiar pair of green eyes follow it.

"I wasn't expecting anyone else today, can I help you sir"? Raven says with the utmost respect.

"Unusual for me to find someone so well mannered"

"The name is Pyre. I have been assigned to you as your mentor for your progression into the exams". Pyre says his thumb pointed at his face as usual.

"Oh I didn't think I would be getting a mentor for the exams, considering how my brothers went. No arm and they still refused to give him something like this". Raven scoffs.

"Blakes your brother"? Pyre says as the characteristics start to parallel. Looking at the file he was given, the name Asteria sticks out like a sore thumb for him. How could he not have noticed.

"What caused the change". Hints of disdain note her voice through her manners. Cutting through the formalities in an instant.

"We're preparing for an oncoming storm in the future. We don't know what's going to happen but the future generation needs to be ready".

"I was assigned to you because you struggle using your own power". Pyre says, trying to steer the topic in a more amicable direction.

"Why wasn't my brother given the same help". Her agitation starts to reach a boiling point as her brother's suffering rings throughout her mind.

"As awful as it sounds it's because he didn't have a power they didn't see the point".

"They just extended him some courtesy, letting him enter the exams". He says extinguishing the fireball in his hand.

"However, I had the opportunity to give him another chance. It took a lot of convincing but I can make a strong case. That's probably why he's late". Pyre says, chuckling a little.

"Thank you for giving him another chance, he's a handful but he's one of the strongest people I know you won't be disappointed". Gratitude washes away all of her previous disdain as she begins to bow.

*CRASH*

"PFFT, great add dirt to the palettes history "The sounds of metal scraping on regencrete, followed by dirt being kicked up rings out through the old complex.

"Blake"? Pyre and Raven say in unison. Looking from the balcony the two catch the sight of Blake. Covered in sweat, dirt clinging to it like a sponge.

"SIS"! Blake says through gasps of breath.

"Gene hunters" Forcing words through his empty lungs.

"Me and Kiara ran into them". Blake says.

"I…Managed to get us out" Blake says over playing his exasperation spinning a white lie in the process..

"You'll be safe here kid, let's head inside any of them show up and I will immolate them" Pyre says. His eyes can't break away from Blake. The flame from before is gone, all that remains is a raging green inferno. Scorching its way throughout Blakes whole body.

''His flame'' Pyres' eyes continue to watch Blake intrinsically.

"Green doesn't appear in the flame of life for humans. Just what happened to the boy. How is he even alive,

During his scrutiny, a presence emerges through the green flame. Forming an erratic smile throughout the streams of energy.

''I have to tell him this soon, I don't want to mess with his retakes but this is concerning. Nothing should exist within our own energy. Only ourselves''. Chaos springs throughout Pyres' mind seeing this drastic change in Blake. Breaking away his gaze he starts to head inside.

Ravens hair starts to levitate in response to this. A grey mist flows out of her hand clinging to the injured pair lifting them in the air over the balcony. Putting them soundly on their feet. The mist just as quickly disappears alongside a fearful expression Raven.

''Looks like these siblings have more potential than the military thought'' Pyre feels vindicated seeing his accurate assessment of the two.

"She's cute Blake" A mischievous grin paints Raven's face now suppressing the budding fear. Her eyes looking at Blakes teasing with each gesture.

"Not now Raven, let's make sure she's okay before you start your teasing" Blake says before letting his sister get into full steam.

''He's got some new tricks up his sleeve. I wonder how he handled the retake''. Pyres' thoughts burn through noticing the new prosthetic clinging to Blakes arm.
