Gates of Annika

They walked side by side, her cheeks kept burning nonstop, "Is it true?" She turned to him with glimmering eyes "have you truly never missed a shot before" "I've missed before" he confessed with red ears. "Really?" She looked shocked but also amazed. "I shot at a dead flower" he replied "You missed a dead flower" he nodded to her question. "Why?" Pulling her to him, he held up her chin and stared at her blue sapphire eyes. "Because I believed it would bloom and I wanted it to bloom under my care" Though it were mere gibberish to anyone, to her he had done something worth her living once more. "Thank you" he smiled warmly enchanting her once again. Underneath the sunlight he looked like an angel. "Someone worth living for"

Chapter 15: Troublesome student

Oona sat in a huge library, beside her were Cornette's women, each saying one thing to another.

"We are in an age of knights and re..."

"... you should be acquainted with the holy scriptures, our savior annika was saved by Yaweh"

"The history of this great land is resting..."

Oona could hardly pick anything from what the women were saying, what terrified her the most was Cornette's eyes which were laser beamed on her.

Oona gulped in enough saliva for confidence. "I need to ease myself" all the women paused and turned to Lady Cornette.

"You may leave" Oona quickly stood up, she was about to bow to them but she recalled the fuss Cornette made a few hours ago.

Oona raised her skirt up and ran out of the room. She kept running towards the paths she knew, until she found her self in a whole new place. She has never been here before.

She wanted to look at the ceiling but her head was heavy.

In annoyance she pulled out the pins and bows in her head. Her brunette hair fell over her shoulders and down to her hips. A great sigh of relief escaped her mouth.

Oona looked up to the ceiling, there it was the beautiful painting of a blonde woman. She had many series of paintings of her all over the ceiling. Oona watched everything like a show, her feet often skipped along the way.

"(chuckling) hehehe" she giggled to herself. She finally got to a part of the manor that had no paintings on the wall. She felt a little bit sad, she enjoyed watching the paintings, they intrigued her.

"Milady!!!!" She jolted in fear, they were already looking for her. Oona frantically ran deep into the Manor. Taking a hard right, she ran faster raising her skirt and looking round incase any of Cornette's women were close.

Oona saw a huge door at the end of the hallway she followed, without thinking twice she ran into the room.

All the maids were shocked by her entrance. Oona stared at them with a nervous smile. She looked round and found out she was in the kitchen.

"Milady" she heard one of Cornette's women call out to her.

Oona quickly ran in and hid under a slab beside a maid who was washing some vegetables. Bjorn who noticed her presence from the end of the kitchen, gestured all the kitchen maids to be quiet.

"Lady OONA!!!!!" Lady Cornette yelled in anger while slamming the door open. Everyone snapped at the door, Cornette looked terrifying but Bjorn didn't look fazed.

Bjorn stepped forward to talk to Cornette. "Yes, how may I help you"

"Where is she?" Cornette frantically scanned all the faces of the maid in the room.

"Who are you talking about?" Bjorn asked even though he knew who she was looking for. Bjorn and Cornette have a sour relationship, they both had an affinity for each other and didn't even try to hide their distaste towards themselves.

"A maid said the lady ran towards the kitchen, so bring her out from her hiding place" Cornette glared at Bjorn intensely

"I doubt the lady would come this way" Cornette's face twitched in anger.

"Aren't you supposed to be training her? You had better find her quick before Lord Sage comes back"

Bjorn didn't waver, his oblivious attitude was real enough to fool Cornette.

"I doubt a cheese brain like you would know how to hide a lady" Cornette scoffed and left the room. Oona waited for a few minutes before coming out from the slab. All the maids had a look of amusement in their eyes.

"Running away from class is wrong milady" Bjorn stood behind her like a father scolding his daughter. Oona turned to him with doey eyes, every one in the room were dazed by how glossy her eyes became.

"Don't worry" Bjorn couldn't help but rub her head in a loving way. Everyone gasped at what he did but Oona enjoyed it. She couldn't help but smiled warmly. "Since you're here milady, I guess you can have lunch"

Oona's eyes glimmered at his words. All the maids began to make a space for her to eat. Oona on the other hand stood beside Bjorn as he added some finishing touches to the cake he was baking. He helped Oona wash her hands and led her to the seat prepared for her.

Bjorn served a two-step cake for her. It was iced in cream and blue icing. A maid cut a piece for her and served her. Oona completely ignored the cutlery beside the plate and picked the cake with her washed hands and munched it down.

Bjorn smiled as he watched her enjoy the meal. She was also served freshly made orange juice.

Oona had spent almost an hour in there. She kept devouring the cake Bjorn had made for her. Oona can't remember the last time she tasted a cake as sweet as this.

When she heard footsteps she picked the remaining cake in her hand and hid under a slab.

Sage walked in, he wore a blue russet with white pants. Everyone bowed to him deeply. Bjorn walked forward to welcome him."Good afternoon Milord"

"Where is she?" Sage had a passive expression on his face so it was hard to know if he was angry or not.

Bjorn sighed and pointed at the slab where Oona was hiding.

"Come out Oona" Sage sighed and walked towards the slab. Oona slowly emerged from the slab holding a plate of cake in her hand. Her mouth was stained with cake.

All the maids muffled in their laughter, she looked like a little child who had stolen cake and was hiding away from her grumpy parent.

Sage walked towards her and scanned her from top to bottom. "Come on let's get you clean"

Oona nodded and munched the last piece of cake on the plate. A maid was about to laugh so she quickly left the room. Sage pulled her hand and walked out with her. Bjorn bowed to them both as they left. Oona waved Bjorn goodbye with her cake stained hand.

Sage and Oona walked side by side in the hallway. "Why did you skip your lesson with Cornette?" He asked coldly.

"I wanted to ease myself" Oona said. Her hands which had icing on it fiddled with each other.

"And you did that in the kitchen?" Sage arched a brow. Oona looked at her feet sadly. "Come on let's go"

"Will you take me back?" She asked, Sage shrugged his shoulders and turned to her. His eyes had been on her mouth for a long time.

He quickly pulled her close and kissed her, well licked all the cake surrounding her mouth. Oona's face was like a red tomato, her cheeks burned in shock.

Sage gently pulled away from her and gazed on her coldly. "Don't waste food" he walked forward and left Oona there dazed and confused. "Come on, Cornette is waiting for you"

Her racing heart turned sullen and sad. She didn't want to go back. She walked slowly behind Sage. Her mouth puffed out sadly.

Cornette spotted Oona and Sage coming, her eyes turned red like a hungry beast. She hurried toward Oona with a deadly glare that made Oona quiver.

Oona instinctively hid behind Sage's back gripping his russet tightly. Her eyes were shut and lips pressed together.

"A lady of the manor doesn't quiver but stand up to her mistakes" Cornette's voice was stressed. It was obvious she was suppressing her anger.

Sage stood still for a while before turning to her. Oona looked at him with pleading eyes. Shaking his head, he glared at Cornette.

"I'd like to make a few changes to my wife's lesson" Cornette was surprised at Sage's words.

"Reduce the way you doll up my wife" Cornette quickly bowed her head to Sage's word. "It makes her tired, and it's annoying when I want her at night" Oona snapped her head at him. She didn't understand why he would say such, that part was most unnecessary.

"Yes Milord"

"Also, her tutorial should be a subject at a time, not everyone is Callie" he still had a sharp gaze on Cornette.

Oona was surprised, she didn't spot Sage anywhere so how did he know about her lessons this well. "I'm not my brother Nielsen, I don't forgive easily"

Cornette had beads of sweat rolling down her face. She could feel the domineering aura from Sage, she did hear the rumors of him being more intimidating than Nielsen but she witnessing it herself gave her second thoughts on how she treated the girl.

"Go on Oona" he held her hand gently and pulled her out. Oona who was still dazed by what happened just followed his lead and stood in front of Cornette.

"I'm sorry for running away" Oona bowed to Cornette deeply. Cornette sighed tiredly, she shook her head and bowed to Sage. After that she pulled oona's hand and walked away.

Oona turned to Sage with a grateful smile, Sage stared at her with round eyes, he felt like he was being hypnotized by her smile.

"Thank you" her lips moved in a way he could read what she was saying.

Sage tilted his head and looked at his hands, they was icing on it. Sighing he licked it off with his hand. And walked in the opposite direction of where Oona followed.

A butler emerged from a pillar and bowed to Sage. "Milord should I still watch over the lady?"

Sage pulled off his russet, leaving him with an inner white shirt. He gave the russet to the butler and walked away.

AT MANASSEH'S MANOR.

Manasseh sat on a garden, he wore a white shirt and red pants with black boots, his hair was packed in a half ponytail. He rested on the concrete bench calmly. His eyes were glued to the blue sky. He smiled when he felt the presence of someone behind him.

A woman stood behind him and bowed. She had short crimson hair and glossy peach eyes, her complexion was tanned a little bit. She is in deed beautiful. She wore a black gown that had red stones decorating it's edges. A part of her bossom was a little bit exposed. Her curves were well defined and her gown outlined it perfectly.

"Good afternoon Master"

"Took you long" Manasseh sighed "so did you find it?"

"No, none are left" she replied calmly, her peachy eyes were glued to Manasseh's back.

"Hmmm" he hummed "looks like he beat me to it"

"I sensed a presence" the woman said "it wasn't human"

"Aiye... Looks like we're dealing with a new opponent" he smiled dashingly. "Now this is going to be fun"

He laughed out loudly and turned to the woman. "How long are you going to keep that scar up"

His eyes were on her neck that had a slash mark on it, it looked like a sword inflicted scar, totally putting her beauty off guard. She smiled warmly and walked to him.

Kneeling in front of Manasseh, she bowed deeply.

"As long as I live to serve you, this scar shall be a treasure to me" Manasseh tilted his head and stared at her with indifferent eyes. She knelt in between his legs and had a seductive gaze on him.

Bending to her level, "raise your head" he stared at her with a passive expression but his eyes were intense. "Go get ready for me, you've won yourself a prize"

The lady smiled and quickly walked out, she ran to her chambers in joy.

Manasseh sighed and stared at the sky, he needed to act fast if he wanted to achieve his goal. He didn't know how much time was left for him to do this.

Callie who was a few miles away from where her husband sat, glared at Manasseh angrily. She scoffed and walked away.
