Mariano wants me to stay.
Please tell me I'm not dreaming.
The unsteady thumping in my chest tells me I'm very much awake—that or I need to see a heart doctor—and so does the rushing of blood to my cheeks.
This is another one of those times when Mariano surprises me. I didn't even verbally ask, but somehow it's as if he knew that I wanted to stay and so he lets me.
I can't help but compare my life in New York. I was always asked to leave so the men could talk about business.
Is it because I'm now the Boss's wife that I'm allowed to stay in the room? I don't think that's the case because as far as I can remember, I haven't seen my father let my mother stay when it's business talk. The only times my mother and I were present were when it involved the whole family and every member should be present. Otherwise, all women weren't allowed in any other meetings.
