Fruits Basket: Tohru's Cousin and Kyo's Brother

What if Tohru had two more cousins and Kyo had a younger brother who was the dog of the the zodiac? Their lives are turning around when two of them decided to leave their family and lived a life of a lone wolf. And also, I would like to tell the story of Fruits Basket from the perspective of a fan-fic character, but also adding some parts for the lives of the fan-fic characters. Masayuki Honda is a 17-year-old Filipino biracial living in Japan and the maternal cousin of Tohru Honda who was supportive of her. Handa Sohma is the younger brother of Kyo Sohma and the dog of the zodiac who was his supporter. They both have something in common: They are sympathetic of their sufferings. Will they escape such suffering of theirs and even their own?

Chapter 74 – The zodiac cat curse

Third person POV

Later, Kyo woke up, only to see that he was in his room, with Shigure watching over him. "What happened to me?" he asked.

"Oh, you're awake," responded Shigure while chuckling a bit.

Then, Kyo looked at him and asked him about what had happened.

So, Shigure told him what had happened in detail.

Moments later, Kyo was stunned, before getting up and ran to the first floor.

There Emiko was making a cup of tea for herself when Kyo arrived. "Emiko-chan!" Kyo said to her. Emiko then looked at her. "Oh, senpai, you're awake." She had known the zodiac curse beforehand from Handa.

She then dunked the tea bag into her cup of hot water and walked over to him. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I am fine," answered Kyo back, "did you see everything, right?"

Emiko then nodded. "Yes, but we truly understand your pain and suffering."

Kyo was stunned. "Really?"

Emiko then nodded.

Because Kyo felt that he has friends that truly cared for him. "Wait, how about the others? Tohru-chan and Masayuki-kun? Do they understand that as well?"

"Yes, they do," answered Emiko meekly and nicely, "as well Handa-kun."

Kyo was happy to hear that, knowing that his younger brother and other friends were his true friends after all.

So, he asked her where they are now. "Oh, they're outside with Kazuma-san," Emiko responded again. With that, Kyo ran outside to search for them.

Meanwhile, outside, Kazuma was with Tohru, Masayuki, and Handa. Handa had forgiven Kazuma for making Kyo reveal his true car form, much to Kazuma's relief. Then, Kazuma revealed to them about the history of the zodiac cat curse in the Sohma family and how it was viewed as a curse and a bad omen for them. Masayuki and Tohru were shocked to hear that, and Handa, who had heard about it before, confirmed it as well. In response to that, both of them understood it, feeling very sympathetic for Kyo. But Tohru was the most sympathetic for him.

 "Yes," Kazuma said to them.

And then, Masayuki revealed to him about his earlier sympathy for the cat in the zodiac story his father told him and Emiko as children, adding, "I'll do anything for that cat!"

Tohru and Handa were surprised to hear that.

"Wow, nice one, Masayuki-kun," Kazuma complimented in response.

Masayuki then smiled.

And then, Kyo came and in a bit of anger and frustration, lunged at Kazuma to try to hit him with his martial arts skills while asking why he would do that in front of his friends and brother. Tohru and the others were taken aback by his sudden outburst.

"Woah, calm down, senpai!" Masayuki responded to this.

But no matter how much Kyo tried to hit him, Kazuma dodged his attacks so easy and swiftly.

And instead, Kazuma gave him a good hit.

After that, Kazuma talked to him, reconciling with him shortly thereafter. As a result, Kyo felt proud of his adoptive father being like that. Tohru and Masayuki were happy to hear that, while Handa was proud as well. But now, Masayuki wondered if he could meet Kyo's biological father.
