Chapter 40 - Doctor Hatori

Later, at 4 in the afternoon, Masayuki, Tohru, Kyo, and Yuki, alongside Emiko, Handa, Arisa, Saki, and Souya, are walking from school together. At this point, Kyo and Yuki revealed Masayuki's new position as a club teacher to Tohru.

Tohru was surprised to hear that because she didn't know about Masayuki's multilingual capabilities yet. So, she turned towards Masayuki and asked, "Hey, Masa-kun, is it true that you formed a club?"

"Well, not really," answered Masayuki with some objections. "They had the idea while I lead the club."

"Oh, I see. That might be tough, isn't it?"

"No, not at all. I just teach English to them and try to have conversations in English."

"Oh, really?" Arisa retorted back. "You become an English teacher? Are you that proficient?"

"Well, I hate to break it to you," Masayuki replied back, "but I am very proficient at that language thanks to my habit of watching online videos."

"So that's your secret?" replied Arisa back.

Masayuki then nodded. "Yes."

Later on, after parting ways with Arisa, Saki, and Souya, the remaining six went to Shigure's house, only to see that Ayame is still there, not leaving at all, much to Kyo and Yuki's cold annoyance.

"Oh, welcome back," Shigure greeted as soon as he noticed them.

Not long after, Ayame began telling his slightly exaggerated backstory to them. While Kyo, Yuki, and Handa are annoyed by it, Masayuki, Tohru, and Emiko found it interesting.

"Okay, interesting, but I'm very skeptical you know," Masayuki commented. "Skepticism is one of my official beliefs."

"Oh, okay," Shigure responded to his comment. "You're different."

"Yes, so I would not be tricked or fooled by someone or something."

Then, Hatori, the dragon of the zodiac, came to Shigure's house to pick up Ayame.

"Oh, Hatori-san," Tohru greeted back.

Masayuki and Emiko then noticed Hatori, and Masayuki asked Tohru, "Wait, you know that person?"

"Oh, right," Tohru responded upon realizing this. "Masa-kun, Emiko-chan, this is Hatori Sohma, he's the dragon of the zodiac, and a family doctor." Then to Hatori, "Hatori-san, this is Masayuki and Emiko Honda. They're my cousins."

After that, Masayuki and Emiko bowed their heads slightly and separately for a few seconds.

"Nice to meet you, Hatori-san," Masayuki responded.

"Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you, too, Hatori-san," Emiko added.

"Nice to meet you two," Hatori replied back.

Watching this, Shigure jumped into their conversation, "Wow, you three seems to getting along very well."

But, Yuki is very concerned that Hatori might erased Masayuki and Emiko's memories of them being with him, Kyo, Tohru, and Shigure, so he was a bit uncomfortable.

Handa, too, was concerned about Hatori's possible actions towards his two childhood friends.

After much back-and-forth talking, Ayame left the house with Hatori, concluding his visit.

After that, Masayuki commented, "Wow, that guy is not that bad."

"Yeah, and he's pretty annoying, too," Kyo responded.

"I heard something loud this morning. Is that you, Kyo-senpai?"

"Yeah, sorry about that."

"That's okay, that was just nothing."

Going down the stairs, after Ayame said something to Hatori, Hatori expressed his interest on Masayuki and Emiko, and he added that he wants to talk to them.

"Oh, okay," Ayame responded back. "About what, to be exact?"

Glancing at Ayame, Hatori answered back, "About whether they knew about the zodiac curse or not."

"You don't have to," replied Ayame back. "They already knew that since yesterday."

"Okay, but, I'm very concerned whether they would keep it as a secret or not."

"I see. Okay, whatever you want, Hatori-san."

But, will Hatori erase Masayuki and Emiko's memories of Kyo, Yuki, and Shigure? Or not?
