Cynthia lifted her gaze and caught sight of that familiar figure. The chill in her almond eyes faded, replaced by a soft smile.
"How have you been?"
"Why did you come?"
They spoke simultaneously.
Tristan's lips curved into a faint smile. "I came to support you."
Simple as it was, those five words infused warmth into Cynthia's heart. The feeling of being supported made her feel as if she commanded an army.
Seeing the intimate exchange between the two before her, Lily couldn't help but clear her throat. "Honestly, now isn't the time for public displays of affection."
Cynthia took a deep breath, suppressing the flutter in her heart. "I need to attend to something now."
"Do what you need to do. I'll shoulder the burden," Tristan said.
Cynthia nodded and turned away, her icy demeanor returning.
