The afternoon went by and everyone seemed to like the new home. Kris found herself sitting with a bunch of cheerleaders who were telling one another what they remembered of ‘the last great season’. She knew that most of the guys in the fraternity either played basketball or football, but she assumed that Gary only played socially because he never went to practice sessions like the other guys.

She just discovered that he had been the star quarterback. At the end of the season- before the accident- he’d broken the touchdown record twice. The NFL scouts had been lurking in the neighborhood and prospects had been pretty positive for his sporting career. The cheerleaders were piecing together the lead up to their qualifying for the Varsity State Title.

“We scored fifteen touchdowns in that last game... it was incredible,” Migali said.

She, Demi, Evy, Veronica and Emly were cheerleaders and as Gamma Phi Deltas they held center stage. Kris just listened.
