Forgiven Lust

“How do I know you didn't touch me then? You had the chance?" I retort another question. He walks toward me. His domineering aura veered off him. Making him look ten times larger. I take a step back, recoiling in my skin. He places both hands on my hip, and squeezes it lightly, bringing his face down to my right ear, "if I had touched you last night, trust me, you won't be walking right now; nor would you be prancing around with your skin unscathed," he breathes out, and nibbles light on my ear. He walks back to the kitchen and carries on with the dishes as if nothing happened. I look at him wide-eyed and clutch tightly at my shirt, well, his shirt. ———————————————————————— Twenty-one years old Deven has a life, but to her, it’s not a life at all. Chapter 17— Frustration.

Doyle's POV:

It's been 16 hours since Deven went missing. It's been 16 hours of hell. 16 hours of me running to and fro trying to find her but, unfortunately, I'm unlucky.

"I don't believe Mrs. Bulgarie," Isaac comments.

"Neither do I," I say.

"Doyle, who else do you think would take her? Or where else do you think she will be?" Lucas asks as he turns to face me.

I hate moments like this when reality strikes and reminds me that I don't know her as much as I think I do.

"I don't know," I sigh frustratedly as my head falls onto the table.

"It's okay, Doyle. We'll find her," Lucas reassurances.

His words add fuel to my anger and frustration because it's been 16 hours and we have not the slightest clue where she is.

"When?" I stand up, mistakenly pushing the chair to the floor.

"When?" I exclaim again, "it's been 16 hours, and unless you can perform a miracle, we have no clue about her whereabouts. Not one. The one lead we thought we had was bogus. So if you haven't found one clue, then please don't tell me 'it's okay or 'we'll find her.'"

I stomp over to the kitchen in anger and slam my fist again the countertop and almost break.

"Calm down, Doyle," my wolf says.

"We can't find her," I whisper to him.

"We will," he reassurances.

I take a deep breath in and feel water cloud my vision.

"I'm sorry guys, I'm just frustrated," I apologize without looking up from the counter.

I see one tear fall onto the counter.

"It's ok- fine, Doyle. We'll keep on searching," Lucas replies.

"By the way, do you guys smell that? That disgusting smell of wolfsbane and blood. It's very faint but you could smell it from the end of a football field," Isaac says with a disgusted look on his face.

Smell. Of course. I forgot that our sense of smell travels more than the length of a football field.

My head snaps up and my stare is pointed toward Isaac. I'm not gonna mention that he looks scared.

"I'm sorry, I know it wasn't the time-

"You're a genius, Isaac," I exclaim in excitement as hope fills me.

His face changes to a proud look.

"I know. I've been telling you guys that since day one," he boasts.

Lucas rolls his eyes. "Doyle, what are you talking about?"

"We could track her scent. How did we not think of that?" I tell him.

"Doyle, not to be a devil's advocate but her scent might have faded by now or it may be very faint," he points out as he crosses his arm.

My wolf surfaces and I can feel his need to want to break those arms after what Lucas just uttered.

"I don't care how minimal her scent is. It's the one lead we have and I'm not wasting any time, I'm doing that by talking to you," I growl, well, my wolf does.

I wall toward the door and leave without throwing them a second glance. I shift and run while following the little to no scent I can get.

My lady is waiting for me.
