Tan opened his eyes to see Nana by his bedside, but this time she was smiling. The damned doctor had injected him with something that had put him to sleep. He had rested from the moment Nana left the room with the detectives to the very moment of their return.
"What time is it?" Tan asked Nana when she returned his smile and planted a kiss on his lips.
"Time for you to wake up," Nana said with a cheerful smile. He had been sleeping since the previous day, and now that he was up, she was glad to see most of the stress lines on his face were gone.
"He is up," Nana said to Mrs. Kim, who was sitting at the other end of the room with her phone to her ear. Tan raised his head and gave his mother a weak smile when he saw the worried expression on her face as she dropped her phone and stood up.
"I'm fine. It would be best if you calmed down," Tan assured her as she hurried over to his bedside.
