"You are mine now". That was the conversation that began this unexpected journey. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined being with him. *** "Nadia, listen to me, you are going to have to do this for your family. Sometimes, I wonder if I'm really your child. I..." "Enough!! You will go to him and that is it". I wanted to cry but I had already forgotten how to. I'm sure you must be guessing what is happening, well... I'm Anita Blake

"Melissa"?

I said to myself. I knew she was the one because I had looked her up on the internet as soon as I heard about her. I already knew a lot about her and I also knew that she was exactly as Kanada had described her to be. She was very successful and accomplished but one could easily tell that she'd do anything and everything to get what she wanted.

I also went through her social media handle and noticed she had tons of followers but yet, got a lot of backlash. The backlash was usually from low-class people so no one took them seriously.

She looked like a saint and acted like one in public but she was a totally different case in private. At least that was what the people on social media said.

"Mr Blake"?

Jason's dad asked as no one was expecting them. Mr Blake went closer and said hello to all the elders in the family, including Jason's mom and dad. When he was done, he said hello to Jason, Derrick, and Kay as they bowed to him but he totally ignored me.

"I know you were not expecting me, but it's important that I should be here".

He said looking at both Grandpa and Mr O'Brien.

"How so"?

Grandpa said but Mr Blake just smiled and said.

"Won't I get a seat"?

He asked jokingly which made us all move to the living room. I wasn't sure if I could go with them or not so I just stood by the side but to my surprise, Kay came over, held my hand, and dragged me to sit with him in the living room.

I was mumbling to him, but deep down, I was grateful for what he did. He didn't make me feel like an outsider and for that, I was happy.

Melissa was calm and quiet. She looked like she could not hurt a fly. I wasn't one to trust people so quickly, and the fact that I already didn't like her, just made it worse. Maybe it was because I didn't like her, that's why I could see the fake face she was currently putting on.

We were about to continue the conversation when we heard the door open with a slam and close with the same force and consistency, making everyone in the living room turn to look at who it was that was causing so much ruckus.

When we looked at who it was, it was none other than Miss Anita Blake, the second daughter of Mr Blake.

I turned to look at Mr Blake and I noticed his eyes were closed in embarrassment. He was obviously embarrassed by the act of his child.

I definitely did not like either sisters but I guess in the end, they'd definitely win as I had no chance with Jason.

Anita kept turning around till she saw us and then said.

"Ahh, there you are!!"

She then bowed and greeted everyone at once.

"Hello everyone, I'm Anita Blake, the second daughter of Mr. Blake and the one who was supposed to get married to Mr. Jason O'Brien".

She elaborated and then, we heard her dad scold her.

"Anita!!!"

He yelled. I turned to look at Anita and noticed she gave her father an evil smirk. It felt like she was saying.

'I don't give a damn'.

Funny enough, it didn't feel like she was trying to screw me over. It felt like she was trying to screw her own sister over now.

"Sit my dear, your family is here. We might as well talk about it".

Grandpa said and Anita sat on the closest available chair. When she was finally seated, Grandpa looked away from her and looked at Mr Blake.

"So tell me, what brings you here"?

He asked and Mr Blake immediately changed from his cold face and began to smile as he spoke.

"Ahh, as I said, I apologize for coming here and disrupting your family time but our families were almost united, I can't dismiss that and walk away".

He said and I saw Grandpa nodding his head.

"You are right, but now, Jason is with someone else. What can we do"?

"It's easy, they aren't even engaged yet so they could easily call it off. I know my second daughter can be a handful and I understand why he doesn't want to be with her anymore. But I guarantee you, my first daughter is nothing like that".

"This is not necessary".

Jason spoke making all of us turn and look at him.

"I'm already in love with Nadia, nothing can change that".

He said as though he was ending the discussion but Mr Blake ignored his comment and spoke again.

"Hahaha, Jason son, you are a very successful businessman but you are still very young. This young lady is indeed very beautiful but that is it. Aside from her beauty, what else does she have to offer"?

He asked and both Jason and Nadia raised one brow while Mrs O'Brien and Derrick looked at Mr Blake with utmost disgust and disappointment.

"My daughter on the other hand can give so many things. Power, additional connection, beauty statues? Just name it".

He said trying to praise his daughter but just then, Grandpa O'Brien spoke.

"Your second daughter is more beautiful than your first".

He said and as we were all not expecting that, we all looked at him in shock but as always, Mr Blake laughed it off.

"Hahaha, she is beautiful, but that's all she can offer. Forget about that, Jason son".

He said as he turned to look at him.

"Look, what you feel for this beautiful woman is just temporary. You know she has nothing to offer and gradually, these feelings you think you have will fade away".

I looked at him and somehow, I couldn't even blame him anymore. He looked so desperate that I almost felt pity for him. He looked like if this didn't go his way, he would have someone to settle with, and with that thought in my head, I looked at Melissa.
