Chapter 48: No Doubt I would have kissed her.

" Well, at least there's one thing you both have in common." Her expression made it obvious she didn't mean to say it out loud.

" What!?" I said maybe more sharply than I should have.

" Did you hear me say something? " I almost smirked at her attempt at trying to feign ignorance.

" Didn't I just hear comparing me with Tommy? " My cold tone was back, I used this tone whenever I was Asher Kelvin.

" No Mr Kelvin, you heard wrong. I only said you have something in common." She explained but I knew she meant something else.

" And what would that be? " I went on like I had no clue.

She made that face she always made when she thought of something before saying

" Hmmm... You both like games. "

'Really? That's was what you could come up with?' I almost smirked at the thought.

Tommy gave me a knowing look before smirking, I knew he was going to say something.

"Are you sure that's what you meant then? " Tommy asked but before she could answer his question she scored a goal. She laughed triumphantly like she had won a golden medal or something. The sight was something that was going to my important memories.

" Damn it, how the hell did you score that? " Tommy went on with a little smile, I knew he was going easy on her even though she was good.

" That's one sweet goal," She said laughing slightly.

Tommy finished his game with her and soon it was my turn to play with her. I had already figured out her gaming strategy as she played with Tommy. We started playing and instead of scoring I just defended.

" I see you're going easy on her. " Tommy teased before going to grab us drinks. I could tell she suddenly started thinking about something because she suddenly started playing absent-mindedly. I turned to look at her and found her shaking her head. I turned back turned back to the game and she seemed to have snapped out of it.

I looked at her again and this time she just rolled her eyes slightly as she shook her head a little. The sight made my heart race, I closed my eyes slightly and opened them.

" I can't concentrate if you keep doing Lisa. " the words came out before I could think. I just stared at her.

" Par...Pardon? " She stammered, It was the first time I called her Lisa.

" I said I can't concentrate if you keep doing that," I repeated. She was surprised but I still kept staring.

" Am sorry, I had no idea it bothered you. " She apologised in a low voice. 

" Everything about you bothers me," I said absent-mindedly. Everything she did bothered me so much. Her face, her smile, everything made my heart race.

" Then why did you force me into marrying you? " The question was so unexpected, I didn't expect her to ask me that. I just kept staring at her unable to say a word. Could she bear it if she ever found out?

" I've always been curious you know, why exactly did you choose to force me into marrying you when there are thousands of girls out there that would willingly marry you for your money? I don't know how much is my dad's debt but am sure you didn't get it back by marrying me, did you? I know you don't have any romantic feelings whatsoever for me so why?" She continued.

I just stared unable to answer, what could I say to her? She thought I had no feelings for her when I was so helplessly in love with her.

It suddenly hit me, I had no right to feel this way about her, I was already messing with her life so what could these feelings ever amount to? I married her for revenge even though I was engaged to someone.

' You can't have it, Xavier Scott, you can't '

" You're not gonna give me an answer?" She was staring at me too. 'I have to go back to being the arrogant old man she knew, she has to hate me more else I won't be able to deal with these feelings.' The thought came all at once.

" Haven't you heard I love beautiful women? Your father owed me money but couldn't pay it back and he had a beautiful daughter so I married her what other reasons could they be?" I said as I looked away from her as I asked my question.

" If what you're saying is the reason then why didn't you try to have sex with me?" She insisted stubbornly.

I suddenly closed the distance between us and grabbed her waist, I pulled her closer till I could feel her breath. I felt my whole body covered with goosebumps as I felt her breath. I could hear my heartbeat so fast like it would pop out of my chest.

' At this rate, you'll soon end up in the emergency room ' I thought.

" Do you want me to have sex with you then? " I asked.

She stubbornly stared back at me even though I knew she was scared.

" No... no " She stammered. My eyes hung on her lips, I tried desperately to look away but I couldn't. I couldn't even get myself to move away from her. She just stared intensely into my eyes and for some reason, the look in her eyes did something to me I couldn't explain.

" What do I do? Am bearly controlling myself right now. " I was talking quietly but I knew she heard me.

" Hey, guys. Has anyone scored any goals yet? " Came Tommy's voice which made her pull away from immediately.

" Oh sorry did I interrupt something? " Tom asked with a grin which made Lisa blush.

I needed to get away from her else I would something I would regret, knowing she was just a few steps away wasn't helping.

" Tom let's go hang out with the girls, am bored " I said suddenly which made Tommy raise an eyebrow but one look in my direction and he understood.

" Oh it's Saturday, the club is gonna be filled with beauties, wanna come Lisa? " Tommy asked already knowing she wouldn't.

" No thanks, have fun." She stood up immediately walking towards the stairs before she turned and said " I'll be going to my room then, Goodnight."

" Have a good night too Lisa " Tommy said cheerfully but I was unable to say a word.

" What's wrong bro? Thought you were having a good time. " Tommy asked when he was sure Lisa was in her room.

" I know you saw everything. " I murmured.

" Oh you mean seeing how you were about to kiss her? If only I had seen it on time I wouldn't have interrupted. Am sure you would have kissed her, I've never seen such a gaze in your eyes. Then again you've never been in love. " Tommy smiled a little.

" No doubt I would have kissed her. Should I just divorce now? Am already so crazy about her. I don't know if I should be happy you interrupted or be angry."

" Maybe I shouldn't have, you would have had your first kiss " Tommy teased. I threw him a dirty look without reply, he was right anyway. I never had time for relationships, I was only ever focused on being successful so I could get my revenge.

" Let's go to the penthouse." I already picked up my keys and was walking out when Tommy pulled me back.
