chapter 21: He likes you

" What are you saying Hads, hope you ain't the one that told him?" I was looking at her suspiciously waiting for an answer. " Abigail told me it was her a while ago, was she lying to me?" I asked again before Hads could even answer my first question, Hads was quiet for a while, it seemed my question shocked her because she looked at me with a pained expression on her face.

"You think I would do that Lisa?" Hads looked into my eyes as she asked. The tone of her voice told me I had messed up badly, I shouldn't have asked her that. If there was anyone whom I trusted more than anything, it was Hads and Of course, I didn't think she would do that. I shook my head " No Hads, I know you wouldn't do that, I was just frustrated" But Hads was still looking at me like she didn't believe what I was saying, I would do that too if I were in her shoes after all I just finished asking her if she betrayed me. I would even be angrier than she was knowing my temper only that I would remain calm.

" Are you sure you are suspecting me?" She was bringing out her books from her bag and arranging them in front of her as she said this meaning she was angry. Hads hardly got angry but on the rare occasions when she got angry, she had a habit of always keeping herself busy, she would just keep working and working till she was exhausted.

" No Hads, am sorry I asked you that and sounded suspicious of you. I just didn't know what to think when you told me you already knew Liam had found out about my marriage and that was what I was calling you so I would see you and tell you about it, so I sounded that way unintentionally. Am so sorry baby girl" I apologised as I held her hand.

" It's okay Lisa " she managed a smile but I could see she wasn't completely okay yet " So when you said you already knew Liam had found out, was it him that told you then?" I still couldn't understand how she knew Liam already knew, so I was asking to be sure.

" Liam called me last night after we spoke on the phone, he told me he went to your house to apologise for the way he reacted about Gab but when he got to your house you weren't there, He was scared of the guy taking advantage of you so he called Abigail to asked if you went home. Well, she took the opportunity to spill out the beans, Liam was so mad but refused to believe it so he called me, and when I wasn't given him a satisfying answer he drove to my house." Hads explained I knew Hads couldn't lie to him, she was such a bad liar and stammered anytime she told a lie so he would know she was lying. It explain everything, the devil I called my sister still managed to cause yet another problem for me. ' First, my dad gave me out to pay his debt and then Abigail stole my boyfriend, I was forced to marry an old man and when I haven't even figured out how to get a divorce, she had to go and tell Liam about it.' I was analysing everything I'd been through in the past couple of weeks.

" So it was that bitch, I already decided to tell him about it today and now...." I trailed off. " I tried explaining to him it wasn't your fault but he wouldn't listen and he's so mad at me too. I guess he felt betrayed, I would feel that same way too if you hid something this big from me and Liam knew about it and said nothing." Hads said explained " How angry is he?" she asked

" He called me Melissa," I said quietly and Hads shook her head with a smile, she understood that he was very angry. He calls me Lisa and called me Lis when he was really happy or wanted me to help him do something but the only time he would ever call me Melissa was when he was very angry. It had happened just once when I started dating Kendrick.

" Let's talk to him later when he's calm, right now he's so angry he wouldn't listen to anything we have to say." Hads suggested, " I can understand how he feels though, I bet he thought he now had a chance to be with you this time." She mumbled but I heard her.

" What did you just say?" I was shocked, Hads looked at me and smiled a little. " You're gonna tell me you had no idea?" She asked back. Just when I was about to say I didn't the professor walked in and we had to halt our conversation.

" This discussion is not over Hads " I whispered and she smiled.

The classes went by quickly probably because my attention was anywhere but here, soon it was time for our lunch break. We waited outside our classroom for a while and when we didn't see him we went to the cafeteria but he wasn't there either. We got our meals and but I didn't have any appetite so I just kept staring at the tray without even picking up my fork.

' I successfully managed to annoy the two people in my life that meant everything to me, I should have told him sooner. What do I do when he won't even listen right now?' I kept wondering but I couldn't find any answer. Then I suddenly remembered what Hads had said before the professor walked in.

" Had, were you serious when you said Liam was happy he could finally be with me? I don't understand this Hads. please explain what you meant" I looked at her, the confusion and shock still evident in my voice. I hoped it wasn't what I was thinking.

" Are you kidding me, Lisa, you didn't know or figure out Liam liked you all these years!?" She had to be joking, I kept staring at her surprised. " You mean Liam likes me?" I asked again to be sure I heard her right and she nodded in affirmation. " Like isn't even the right word, Liam had been in love with you for years." she smiled as she said this. " How did you figure it out? " I was finding it so hard to believe I never figured it out.

" Remember that time in high school when we kept asking him to show us his girlfriend and he would say he would one day?" she waited for me to answer before continuing, I nodded instead. " I decided to watch him closely and it turned out the girl he was always staring at was you, I asked him about it and he admitted he was in love with you."

"I always thought of Liam as a friend and a brother, it had never crossed my mind that he liked me. hearing it now, to say I was surprised was an understatement.

" Wow, I had no idea. Why didn't you ever tell me?" I asked.

" You were dating Ken when I found out so I didn't see any need of telling you about it either and he didn't want me to either," Hads replied.

" You should have told me Hads, I told him everything even down to when I had my first kiss with Ken, I bet it was hard for him to have to listen to it all" I ran a hand through my hair remembering how I told him about my date with Ken and all, he always listens without complaining.

" He asked me not to."
