His return

"He's alive?" A cold voice screeches, throwing the glass cup in his hand on the ground. It shatters close to a bodyguard's leg.

"How could you fail this time, Leo!" The voice pressed on, growling and throwing more glass cups to the ground.

It was Rodger, a dreaded mafia in the city. Here he was in his basement, punishing those who didn't carry out his plans. He was surrounded with harmful objects.

Faint lights illuminate here and it wasn't appeasing. Leo knew his fate because he had worked for Rodger before.

Whenever anyone was brought to the basement, they never go back.

Two of his men were here with him to carry out his orders. They had scary faces, huge and powerful, like bouncers.

He ordered one of his men to get him a baton, he was certainly going to beat Leo to death.

Leo whimpered, falling on his knee adjacent to his boss. Rodger smirks, turns his back on Leo and collected the baton which the bodyguard had brought.

"I swear sir! I confirmed he was dead but then…argh!" He cried as Rodger gave him a whip on his ribs.

"You couldn't get a simple task done!" He raged, whipping Leo harder until he began to bleed and fall to the ground. Rodger drops the baton and cross over Leo.

Some of Leo's blood sprinkled on his face and stained his navy-blue shirt which exposed a part of his tattooed chest.

He paced to a table which had bottles of beer, wine, weeds, and cigarettes. Hastily, he lite a cigarette and began to inhale it.

Rodger shifted his gaze to the two men standing opposite Leo.

"Finish him up!" Rodger orders. Just like though they had been waiting for that order, they gladly carried Leo away.

Rodger gnashes his teeth and stomps a foot on the ground. Everything was pissing off, and he felt like turning the tables around and smashing everything in this place.

"You Tyler!" He cusses, puffing out smokes from his nostrils and mouth.

While in his provoking state, his phone rang. It made him muffle as he gazed around this dingy basement.

Rodger gulps at the number. He was contemplating how he would report to the caller about the sudden news that their sworn enemy was still alive.

He replied the call, and before he could exchange greetings, the voice rages;

"Why is he still breathing?"

"I was sure he was dead, this time around, I would handle his death, boss" Rodger declared with authority. They exchanged some words.

The voice scoffs and disconnected the call. Rodger flung his phone back on the table and then grimaced.

"It seems I would pay our little prey a visit" he mocked, leaning on the table and ruffling his buzz haircut.

"Never trust friends, Tyler" he concluded, taking a bottle of beer and storming out of this place.

***

The mansion had a lot of preparation going on, it was like though a feast was ongoing. Servants could be seen setting decorations and meals in order.

It was a beautiful sight outside, judging from the magnificent buildings, flowers, resorts, fountains and organized workers. It felt like a paradise.

Mrs. Miranda was sighted outside, the smile wouldn't leave her lips, rushing as she was so excited to see him. Impatient and overwhelmed.

She contemplates on the first word to say to him. Her facade, flowing gown sweeps the ground as she paces left and right.

She was a beautiful woman, calm and loving. Her blonde hair lapping around her waist.

This old lady was overseeing the works of the servant and made sure there were no mistakes in the arrangements and setting up of today.

She had given orders to the servants to welcome him with so much love. But that would be pretence because he terrifies them.

Who doesn't know the mafia king Tyler? The man who uses people as play toys and no one gets in his way. Claiming he rules the world.

They could tell he had countless enemies that pretended to be allies with that bad reputation of his. They often wonder how Mrs. Miranda copes with such a son.

For those servants that lived in this mansion for a long time could tell Tyler was no longer the sweet boy they knew after running away from home because he murdered someone of high reputation in this house.

It was a secret, and so everyone buried the incident in their heart. Sadly, someone had to pay for his crime and the servants had to bear witness to that.

They wonder why she cares so much, even after Tyler had severe all ties with her. He made it clear when he came home last night. Miss Helen was a witness to that.

She was superb at delivering rumors and eavesdrop on every conversation. Last night, Tyler had appeared like a thief or demon, she would say.

He didn't spend much time and headed straight to the study room.

Though she couldn't see his facial reaction, but she knew he was sad and weary, before leaving for the study room.

She noticed he brought out a locket from his pant pocket, opened it and heaves a sigh.

Miss Helen sneaks behind him to listen to their conversation, though trembling and was unable to hear every word, but he was having a word fight with his mother.

He told her that everything was her fault and she was the cause why he was like this. This mafia reminded her that all ties were cut off since the day he ran away from home.

Furthermore, he emphasized that she should stop pestering him.

Miss Helen didn't want to hear much, as she was feeling sad for her mistress. Quietly, she crept away.

Her son was alive, oh how she felt, even though they had an ill-relationship.

She never minds as long as she sees him. She could recall the last time they met, and that was last night.

After 10 years apart, although they were in the same country, they barely see each other.

He had made her cry her heart, saying hurtful words to her and vowing never to meet her again.

Nevertheless, she was still his mother, covering up for his crimes despite knowing how dangerous he had become over the years.

When she had heard that he was shot in his apartment, it broke her heart, leaving behind everything.

Mrs. Miranda had to be there for her son. She was at the hospital throughout, but didn't get a chance to see him because he had escaped again.

Mrs. Miranda had to send some bodyguards to find him around the hospital and outside. Unfortunately, lost track of him, claiming that he followed a woman to escape.

This old lady was relieved because from the way they described this woman, she knew Tyler safe and heading home.

"I hope she brings him to me" Mrs. Miranda prayed as tears had gathered in her eyes. She would rather not recall the tragic memories she always had with her son.

Never treating him with love from childhood, and she just hopes it was never too late, judging from how wild he had become.

While pondering over what was taking them long, her wish finally came through when a cab drove in.

Hurriedly, she held the hem of her gown and rushed to the car. She wanted to be the first to embrace him in her arms.
