Sarcastic Raven

CHAPTER 33

When Xavier finished his meeting with Sky, he left her in the capable hands of Zeno, who he was sure was going to give her a handful of scolding.

All through their conversation, he kept on watching Zeno's expression from the side. And was sure he disliked her guts to some extent.

He did as well, but then, it was what made her unique, just like one feisty little kitten he had locked away.

Just thinking about Raven, he decided to check up on her.

At the very least, from where her room was located, he did not need someone to tell him she must have had a glimpse of those coming to see him.

And with that, several questions would roam in her mind.

Unlike before when he made his presence known, this time around he decided to appear in her room to give her a surprise.

With the snap of his fingers, Xavier appeared in front of her door in the room, only to meet her pacing.

'Hmm.'

His eyes narrowed further at her body while trying to figure out what had gotten her mind so busy that she failed to notice his presence.

From the corner of his eyes, he suddenly saw Layla lift her head. At once he knew she was about to warn her master and took precautionary measures to prevent such.

Sensing his cold glare at her direction, the pet fox instantly felt a chill run down her spine.

From previous encounters she had with him, where she saw him in his mighty dragon form, since then she had learnt to fear and respect him.

That was why when it came to Xavier, her mischievous self was instantly tamed.

'Better. That is how to be a good pet fox.' Xavier noted in his mind.

He spent the next few seconds enjoying the beautiful show she gave and wondered how someone as capable as her who could make him break free and dive in to save people would be so dense and clueless about her surroundings.

In the end, he could not bear to watch anymore and finally spoke to her.

"Are you alright?"

"No, I'm pacing."

"I can see that."

"Of course. A person who is all right does not pace."

"Care to share your burden? Sometimes, two heads are better than one."

"Yes, but not when the other head is yours."

No sooner had the words left her lips than Raven whipped her head up, casting her shocked gaze on the intruder.

Her lips hung open as her eyes went wide. She had been speaking since without bothering about the new person in her room.

Left to her, it was her thought she conversed with or Layla even but when she uttered the last words, that was when the voice dawned deep in her mind and she decided to confirm.

"Y-Yo-ou're…" she swallowed hard while holding tight to nothing as her fingers clenched hard.

Raven was so lost in thoughts which was one of her less strong points. She usually got herself lost when she was in too deep in her thoughts.

In the past, her father usually cautioned her about it, telling her how much trouble it could get her.

And now this happened. She had done something wrong and could only hope Xavier wouldn't get mad.

However, his next choice of words chose to annoy her instead.

"If you mean, to address me as Your Majesty and ask for forgiveness, then I can perhaps forget that I was just insulted," Xavier's deep voice rang out, sending a certain kind of dread her way with those cunning demonic beautiful eyes of his.

Her brows arched up to his stupid logic. There was no way she was calling him that. Rather the words that itched to leave her lips were none other than this.

"You're here?"

"Huh? Say that again."

"Why? You've got hale in your ears?"

This time around, it was his turn to get stunned by her words. Not just once but twice now, she was rude with her remarks.

At that moment he could only liken her to one person.

'Since when did the Pendragon have someone who beat them in sarcasm? I think she and Sky were made for each other. Henceforth, I guess Sky would tend to her.'

"Is that anyway to addresses your king?"

She rolled her eyes at him. Since when did she bother considering him as one?

Besides, it seemed as though with the numerous visits he got since awakening had gotten into his head and now he wanted her to address him properly.

"Maybe when you behave like a proper gentleman and set me free."

"Point of correction, I am no man."

Raven's lips pursed into a thin line before breathing out sharply. She had no time with games with him. Instead, she had unanswered questions.

"What are you doing here?"

"Why? Can't I come as I please?"

Her forehead furrowed deeply at his answer and she retorted. "Excuse me? This is my room. Besides how did you get in here without knocking?"

She couldn't say if he did that since she was so lost in thoughts but had he done that then perhaps she would have noticed.

Needless to say, his response gave her a shocker.

"I didn't see the need to knock. I just came in."

"Are you daft or did sealing you take away your senses? What if I was naked?"

A mischievous glint flashed in his eyes as he leaned back against the door frame and crossed his arms in front of his chest.

Slowly, he let his bewitching gaze rake through her body before bringing his gaze back to her face.

"Is there something I haven't seen and had before?"

Her eyes budged at his level of shamelessness and her anger began to rise in her body.

She could not believe him. A man of his calibre would have apologized but here he was speaking in such a manner.

"Damn you!"

"I was once damned. I can't be a second time. Tell me are those all the words you have?"

Her jaw tightened while clenching her fist at her side.

"You can't just waltz into any room as you please."

"I can."

"You can't. This is my room."

"And I own this palace which includes every bloody room and corner of it."

If looks could kill then the deathly glare Raven sent at him would most definitely have diced him up.

"I wouldn't be here in the first place had you not kidnapped me. I wonder how no one sees this evil side of you and yet they all flock towards you."

"Ah... the truth's finally out," Xavier noted, ignoring the creases on her brows. "So that is what got you all worked up and lost in thoughts. Sorry to burst your bubble but they see more than you do. Your shallow insight can never compare to theirs."

Her anger rose beyond what she could control at this point and before she did something she regretted, she stopped this madness the only way she knew how to.

"Just get out of my room," Raven ordered through gritted teeth.

She had soon come to learn of how useless it would be exchanging words with him. All she wanted at this point was for him to go.

A low chuckle fell off his lips at the same time she issued her command.

She may have been childish but her audacity would make for a good ruler, or so he thought.

Sadly for him, her anger could not see the good in his actions and she fumed even more.

"I came to check up on you but seeing how much energy you have in throwing tantrums, I guess I was worried for nothing. Enjoy your day."

With that, he lifted from the door and snapped his fingers again. Right before her eyes, he disappeared, leaving her room the same way he met it.

Her eyes remained wide open as her brain tried to figure out things.

After some seconds she threw her hands in the air and screamed out.

"Curse you, Xavier! Arghh!"

No one knew her pain but at this time, she was gone.

"He can disappear and appear at will? Then what does that make my plan of sneaking up and attacking him when he used the door? Arrghhh... Why me!"

She had been too busy with her thoughts to utilize her plans but now, she understood her plans had a loophole.

"I'm right back where I started."
