Chapter 16 - Where I Belong

Ann without saying a word removed the cloth covering the statue revealing the face behind the statue to be Lucas’ mother. She glanced at Lucas who was spellbound and shocked at the same time. “Your mother is the first white witch that has walked the earth over the years. She turned dark when she was pursued by a very powerful enemy. After she fled, she later found the path to embrace her pure nature which made her regain her abilities as a white witch. According to her, when she fled, she discovered the mystic orb that can cure the werewolves and make them humans again. Though it was discovered by her act of dark nature she embraced but it doesn’t matter now if we find it and use it.”

Lucas still can’t believe what he is hearing and what her mother’s statue is doing in an ancient cave that can date back to the creation of the world. He would have believed Ann tricked him by molding the statue a week ago but the statue looks old dating back to a thousand years. It’s truly his mother and it’s clear.

He moved away from the statue trying to catch his breath as he placed his right hand on the rocky wall of the cave. This is the highest shock of his life he has ever received. “I wish my mother is still alive to explain all this to me.”

“You have us to do that. Your mother even hid from us that she has a family. We only learned about you from Bonnie’s vision.”

“Bonnie wrote to me that I’m the new alpha, what does that mean?”

“In her vision, she saw you taken over from Jones.”

“I don’t understand.”

“If a werewolf kills an alpha werewolf, automatically the alphaship transfers to the werewolf. Every ability possessed by the previous alpha becomes his and his pack will knee to the new alpha. This cannot happen if you don’t embrace who you are.”

“I’m not interested in becoming the new alpha. If I must embrace who I am, I am doing this to avenge my mother’s death. And we do this my way.”

“I agree and the witches will be glad to meet you as soon as possible.”

“Where?”

“At the witches’ coven.”

“Very well then.”

“One more thing, you need to trigger your werewolf curse if…”

“I am not killing anyone just to be a powerful werewolf,” Lucas snapped at Ann. He didn’t like the idea of killing anyone just to trigger his werewolf curse. That’s against the law of the land and he might end up in jail for that.

“If you do not trigger your werewolf curse, you will never manifest your powers as a wizard from the line of Kora.”

Lucas cast a wide-eyed gaze at Ann. Her mother never mentioned to him or his father that her real name was Kora. They have often known her as Susan. “My mother’s name is Susan, not Kora.”

“You might be right because that’s what she told you guys but her real name is Kora. Forget about the name but right now, we need you to activate your werewolf curse or we will never win this fight.”

Alpha Jones wants to use Lucas to fight his battles. But Lucas has to face the reality now and make up his mind. If he weren’t turned into a werewolf a night ago, he would have easily manifested his wizardry powers if shown how to. But his werewolf transformation will block his manifestation as a wizard unless he triggers his werewolf curse.

LUCAS’ APARTMENT

Stone flung the front door of Lucas’ apartment open as he walks in and shuts the door. He started sniffing around for Lucas’ scent. The scent he perceived was the ones on Lucas’ clothes. Werewolves can easily find their victim with the victim’s scent. This is exactly how Stone found Lucas’ apartment but he was too late. Lucas was already gone with Ann by the time he could get there.

Not quite long he started hearing footsteps approaching the front door of the apartment. Without wasting a second he quickly moved faster than the naked eye could see and hid inside Lucas’ bedroom.

“Ding Dong!” the bell goes over and over. There was literally no one home to answer the door. Stone was watching from Lucas’ window to know who it was. He wasn’t getting a clear view of who it was but from the heartbeat, he can tell the visitor was a female. As he patiently waits for the visitor to turn away since there was no one home to answer the door, the door was opened slowly from the inside. He can hear the creaking sound of the door and another heartbeat in the house. “Impossible,” he mutters below his breath. When he first arrived, he has engaged his enhanced hearing ability to know if anyone was home but there was no heartbeat.

He was surprised when he suddenly catch up with the actual scent of Lucas and not the one on his clothes in his apartment. For the first time, he thought he was losing his ability as a werewolf. “He can’t be hiding around here without me knowing,” said Stone as he started walking downstairs.

Lucas and Ann came back a few seconds ago and the next thing Lucas heard was the doorbell. He didn’t wait a second before he could answer the door. It was Jane, the daughter of their next-door neighbor checking up on him to know how he was doing after the incident in the woods. “Alright Jane, thanks for your concern.”

“See you later.”

“Aright.” Lucas shuts the door. As he turned, Stone was standing right behind him staring down on him with glowing yellow eyes.

Stone snarled at Lucas. “You belong to the pack now!”
