The invite that arrived at the Grand Duke's doorstep was sent out to the other nobles in the capital as well, just as Wade predicted. The nobles were unsurprisingly thrilled at the news of a banquet held by the marquis, sending the clothing stores in Eteare into a frenzy as they rushed to design fresh and trendy attire for their clients.
Camellia sat on a bench in St. Matthew's Park, watching the world pass by her in a blur: a young couple pushing a stroller, elderly men playing chess on a bench nearby, a paperboy meandering after selling his allotment of newspapers.
'Your mother was framed and driven away from the house all those years ago. I'm sorry. So you don't need to feel guilty about me. If anything, you can hate me and curse me all you want.'
