First day of Apocalypse

-07:55am, Thursday, last week of July, Johnson Manor, Victoria Island.

"You will go back to that school whether you like it or not!" A feminine shriek resonated through the white, exquisite and stylishly built mansion that housed the popular actress celebrity, Stella Johnson.

In front of the two pillar-ed entrance, were a fleet of parked cars, each one exuding style and class with sparkling range of colors, all contained by a remote controlled gate. To a regular passerby, this was the literal definition of heaven on Earth.

But to Angela Johnson, she hated it.

"No! You won't tell me what to do, okay? You don't get to do that!" Angela Johnson retorted, shooting up from the gold enameled table that she sat at with a bowl of cereal before her.

The chairs were huge and red, having gold sheen at the edges while a silver flower case sat at the center of the huge and long dinning table. A silver chandelier hung just above the flower vase, glowing dim orange light while the ceiling boards were illuminated with fluorescent light.

Angela's mum stormed in from the archway diagonal to the standing Angela, dressed in a flowing black and red gown with a stylish cloth ribbon at her voluptuous hips. Her skin was brown toned, glittering and without blemish, evidence of a well taken care of skin. Her face was accentuated by light red makeup, red lipsticks, red eyeshadow and sparkledust eyelashes while her nails we're of different colors, ranging from red, orange and to yellow, each stylishly designed.

She raised a pointer finger to her lip level as she pointed at Angela, her melon sized breasts trembling at the effort.

"Will you keep shut? I am your Mother and you..."

"Oh... Please.." Angela waved a hand mockingly. "You lost the right to be our mother the moment you walked out on those two feeble babies, just because of a stupid career." Angela slammed a hand into the table, watching the horrified look on Stella's face.

Angela had just an ash colored long length plain blouse on a hip length bumshot while her feet are adorned with fur flip flops. She relaxes back into her seat, pushes the bowl of half eaten cereal away as she rubs her temple with the other hand.

"How dare you? How dare you accuse me of abandoning you when you are the one always, abandoning people? Where's your brother, Tega?" Stella fumed, turning the argument around.

"I left him in school, so what?" Angela mouthed, crossing hands on her small teen sized breasts.

"Of course. You know how he is and you can't look after him but only think about yourself. And yet you accuse me of abandoning you then? I should abandoned only you and took..."

"Don't even go there! I left him in school because I want him to have a life of his own and not look at me for every damn decision he takes. For God's sake, I play the role of his mother when you are here, doing celebrity up and down." Angela flicks her palm up and down at the mother, face squeezed in disgust.

"Are you mad?" Stella marched across, to the other side of the table, staring her daughter in the eyes, one finger at her left temple.

"What?" Angela pouted at her mother. "Remind me what it is you do? Messing about with that Daniel guy..."

TWHACK!

A slap resounded across Angela's face as Stella huffed, her hand slowly returning to her side. "Don't make me do what you will regret. Get out. I mustn't come back from my appointment and still see you here." She threatened.

"Of course!" Angela rubbed the slapped cheek. "Leave the house so that you will have it to yourself and Daniel to go all nude."

THWAACKK!!!

"Don't be stupid, Angela. He is my producer and just because I tolerate your excesses doesn't mean you should over step your boundaries. If you will not respect me as your mother, respect me as the woman that provides for every fucking need of yours." Stella flashed a pointer finger at her daughter.

"You accuse me of abandoning you? When I did that so that all of this money could be available but of course, you ingrate, the money is not enough to replace my absence in the early years of your life." Angela pushes back her chair and storms off, wordlessly.

"At least, I came back into your life." Stella yelled after her, tears moistening the edges of her eyes.

"You don't even call your children. We are adopted as far as your career is concerned." Angela yell resonated through the dinning hall, drawing out sobs from her saddened mother.

Minutes later, Angela stormed out if the Johnson Manor, a black camper bag on her back. She had a white shirt with blue tie and a black flare skirt that ended just above her knees while a black blazer lay suspended in the left arm.

"You ready?" A baritone voice boomed out from the all black suited bald headed man with dark toned skin and a sunshade.

"I'm ready, Slyvester. Take me to the damn school so that I can leave this house." Angela gave two middle fingers into the air as she squeezed her face at the last word.

"I saw that!" Stella's voice exploded behind her.

"Well." Angela turned back. "Fine, Kill me then!"

To her surprise, Stella simply exhaled, smiling slightly. "Why is that bag so loaded? Aren't all your things at the boarding house already?"

"Well..." Angela rolled her eyes. "I took more provisions for myself and Tea. Seeing that you don't have our time so we spoil ourselves with cereals. You got a problem with that?"

"Angela... You know that I love...."

"Blah blah blah... If you do, your love stinks." Angela rudely interrupted, hoping off the small stairs to stand beside Slyvester without giving a second look to her mum.

Slyvester looked at the celebrity star and wordlessly opened the door for Angela. In the years he had worked for her, he had learnt that to keep his job, he had to keep his mouth tightly reined.

And today was one of those days.

He hurried over to his own side of the SUV before bowing slightly to Stella. The celebrity responded, nodded her head repeatedly, absent minded, watching as the black SUV revvved up it's engines.

-08:58am, Tafawa Balewa Square bus stop, Same day.-

The black SUV turned the bend under the light rain and cruised down along the road beside the stadium. It glided on, moving past the stadium entrance where the moulded horses rode upon stationary pillar post, an artistic depiction relaying strength.

Angela huffed, resting her head against the headrest with closed eyes. She had promised herself not to think of what happened earlier but her cheek still stung. Deep down, She could sense her mother, Stella Johnson, trying to change.

But it was just a meagre effort.

Besides, there's was nothing, Angela mused, her mum would do now to make up for those years when she had left them.

It had started from an unwanted pregnancy. Abort the babies and come with me to Nollywood, was the offer the then producer had offered after having unprotected sex with Stella. And that was done to procure a role.

By some stroke of fate, Stella chose to bear the babies and had twins, herself and Tega. People usually felt happy when babies came but not her mom. Instead, she had been thrust into the hands of the care taker old lady of an orphanage. And then, years later when she and her brother had grown into ten years, the now celebrity Stella Johnson finally remembered she had two kids somewhere and went to go claim them again.

And she would swear her mom didn't come claim them because she really cared. No, it was just simply because the manor was too big for her to live alone and so she wanted them to live with her. Fast forward a year later, she got them admitted into boarding school, just as soon as one big role came that didn't need her kids being in the manor or around her.

Just what mother would ever do that to her kids?

The soft pitter patter of the rain seemed to bring some level of calm to Angela as she listened intently. She opened her eyes, turning to the window of her seat, out into the road.

The rain that fell seemed to glow ghostly blue as it richocheted against the little water, flowing into the drain. Stella frowned on this spectacle, drawing closer to the window.

She looked out at people and noticed some people had begun noticing the same ghostly haze the rain water had after it pooled up.

"Miss, seems like there's a hold up. I can't help it especially as cars are being parked anyhow on the road." Slyvester called to her.

"Anyhow?" Angela asked, turning to face the front.

"Yes, seems we will be really late for your school today. I just don't understand why the traffic wardens will allow people park cars on the main road. It's not like Trade Fair is today. " Slyvester analyzed, leaning back in his seat.

Angela drew closer, hanging her arms on the frontal seat to wedge between them, the same frown still plastered on her face. Outside the car, where vehicles parked as if the drivers were attempting to reverse. Going further from them, the cars were scattered and chaos ripped out as voices hurled insults at each other, all of them attempting to reverse their vehicles.

"Just, what, in God's, name, is happening?" Angela whispered, her mouth opened in a small circle.

"Wait... Why are people running back?" Slyvester started, as people started escaping out of their cars, joining the pedestrians who were high tailing it, entering shops, offices and buildings that littered the stadium's edge with panic all over their faces.

Slyvester looked at Angela and glanced at his door. Quickly, he revved the engine again and nodded for Angela to seat back. As she did, his hand flickered over the gear, putting the vehicle in reverse mode. He slammed the pedal and...

GBAMM!

The SUV slammed against something behind it, a car alarm ringing out into the air. Angela and Sylvester exchange glances and it is at that moment they see the horde.

Monsters, black, grey, red. Growling angered lizard like creatures or rather dinosaur like humanoids with tattered pieces of clothings on their bodies stampeded through the road, each one running back under the small rain drizzle. As they storm and smash their ways through vehicles, they claw out, grabbing running people and biting flesh out of them. A few other person's escaping for their lives stop running, beastly sounds escaping from their throats as they rip apart their clothings.

And within seconds, monstrous growth snakes over their exposed bodies, sprouting tail and claws at respectively places as they are transform, becoming about 6-7 feet high.

Slyvester sweats bucket as he quickly unlocks the door. He jumps out of the vehicle and just as he did, a pair of reptilian claws grab him as Angela muffles her scream with both hands.

The monster bent, one slit eye looking into the car, straight at Angela while it gobbles up the abdomen of Slyvester. Blood and intenstines drop, the bdoy of Slyvester falling down into two chopped halves.

"Aaahhhhhhhhhhhh!" Angela screamed, the horror of it shaking her to the core. Simultaneously, the car gets lifted up and a tug begins for possession of the SUB by another monster.

Panicking, Angela kicked her door open and leaps out with the camping bag latched to her back, just before the car is hurled away into the distance.

On her landing, she picks herself up, removes the bag from her back and drags it along with her as she races for the nearest available cover, which is the stadium.

But even the stadium's entrance is not safe as monsters begin to rush towards her, fangs glinting in wicked light.
