"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!!" Sun Jack, sitting in the car, practically slammed the accelerator to the floor, his face streaming with cold sweat.
At that moment, his vision system connected to the surveillance camera on the left wall, and he watched as the towering building behind him leaned over with immense oppressiveness.
"I can't die! I absolutely can't die! I still have over 30 years of mortgage to pay off! If I die, the loan would crush my wife!"
Just as it was about to crush him, he violently stomped through the car floor, his metal prosthetic legs rapidly moving at overclocked speed, giving the car another boost.
Amidst the flying sand and stones, at the very last moment as the building was about to collapse, he finally escaped the falling debris.
The car stopped, and he listened, still shaken, to his system's alerting heartbeat, watching the collapsed rubble in the distance and the crowd shouting as they climbed over it.
Taking a deep breath, he violently hit the steering wheel with his claws. "Fuck! What the hell is all this!"
In the Metropolis, he was used to all sorts of things happening, but today's events were freakishly bizarre. The perennially acid-rain cloaked Metropolis was now sunny instead of raining? The Sun had come out?!
He was just peacefully working overtime when suddenly a group of people emerged out of nowhere and started a battle with the company's security forces.
Even though the company system instructed everyone to protect company property and to start counterattacks, he cursed those who didn't use their brains at work. Seeing that the situation was going south, he immediately ran for it.
Right then, a communication alert sounded from the system. Seeing the cartoon avatar, Sun Jack hastily, without a second thought, picked it up.
"I'm okay, I'm okay, just wait a moment, I'll be back soon."
In the system interface came a mature woman with a sexy voice, her skin semi-transparent, wearing demon horns, and with a luminescent green line running from her impressive chest to her chin. She began to speak, "43, do you know what's happening? There are all kinds of rumors flying around on the net, even some saying the Holy Grail has fallen."
Sun Jack rolled down the car window and looked at the group of heavily armed cyborgs hurrying by, "Who knows, it's like everyone here has gone mad, insanely attacking all the companies. Really, what the hell is all this."
"It's not safe anymore. You'd better come back first. I'm waiting for you at home. We'll talk when you get back."
"Okay, turn on the home security system, I'll be back soon." Sun Jack hung up the call and hurriedly drove towards the newly established Queens District.
Just then, his car's onboard system started popping up messages automatically.
"Dear viewers, hello everyone, this is the Hotspot Research Institute. Welcome to today's show. Although the Metropolis is in total chaos and many people have died, I believe you're all used to it by now, right? Hahaha—"
"No kidding anymore, everyone please head home as quickly as you can, lock your doors and windows, and activate your combat prosthetics until this chaos subsides. But of course, you can also join me on the streets robbing others — fortune favors the bold, right? This chaos isn't like before, it's spearheaded by Borrow King himself!"
"Believe me, you must have seen Borrow King Sun Jack's global broadcast. I heard from a buddy working at Utopia Security that this is all legit, can you believe it? Borrow King's past identity was actually the lead of an unscripted reality show on Holy Grail, and now, not only has he screwed over the entire Holy Grail Reality Show's director, but I heard he's also screwed over the Holy Grail itself — badass, right? Fucking badass!!"
"Wanna be badass like him?! Then today's your lucky day! Sun Jack clone willies, life-sized! No need for 998! No need for 898! Just 798! Just 798! Take home a Borrow King real deal willy!"
"Fuck, ad trash!" 43 immediately turned off the program and calmly drove on. With everything so uncertain right now, he wasn't sure what was exactly happening with all this conflicting information. Better to let things settle down a bit.
Having driven for two hours, he finally made it from the Binzhou District back to Queens District. Despite the long commute, the sight of the towering buildings with thousands of homes lighting up just for him brought some peace to his chaotic mind.
Though Queens District still harbored plenty of radioactive dust from a nuclear explosion earlier, if it weren't for that radiation, he couldn't have afforded his own place, so in a way, he was quite thankful to the nuclear-explosion-causing Borrow King.
"I'm back." No sooner had Number 43 opened his cozy 34 square meter home than seven or eight Mechanic Spiders jumped down from the walls, landing on him and emitting deadly red lights.
"It's me! It's me!" He shouted, and the Self-Destructing Spiders stopped their countdown to explosion, the sensor lights turned green, and they crawled back onto the walls.
"How was it? Nothing happened on the road, right?" A plant beside the door quickly changed shape, revealing a sexy woman hidden inside a holographic projection, holding an Eight-Star Stat.
The makeup she wore made her look even more stunning than in communications, especially against the backdrop of her exaggerated figure for maximum effect.
"All good, all good. According to the Battle Zone app, the main conflict was in the Central Business District. My area was just offices, it wasn't affected," said Number 43 nonchalantly; it wasn't his company's skyscraper that had collapsed, after all.
"That's terrifying; I was really worried you wouldn't make it back," the woman said as she walked over and gently wrapped her arms around him, nestling into his embrace.
"What's going on? What happened? HopeLily? The company mandates that only official software can be opened during work hours," Number 43 said, lifting her in his arms and heading towards the bed.
Feeling the soft caress of her demon tail wrapping around his arm, his heart settled a bit.
As HopeLily lay back on the bed, spreading her legs, and buried his head into her chest while stroking his silver hair, she said, "Did you know? Sun Jack went open-source! He's shared invaluable technology just like that, and he's even leading his clones in a rebellion against the Holy Grail! My god, that's insane!"
Swallowing the liquid in his mouth, Number 43 grabbed her restless tail, looking up to say, "Damn, that's boss? No wonder he's the guy I bet on, I even U'ed him 0.5 @Coin."
Hopelily looked up at her man, curiously asking, "Speaking of, haven't you seen Sun Jack out there? I heard his clones are everywhere."
"Only saw him briefly on the road once; he seemed in a hurry. As I sped past him, he seemed to be mumbling something about his original body going missing or something."
