Jasmine Yale picked up her phone, and her first reaction was to call Little Chale's homeroom teacher.
Little Chale's homeroom teacher is a woman in her thirties, who was busy planning an event in her office at the time.
"I'm Chale Cheney's mother," Jasmine Yale explained to her.
In the last parent-teacher meeting, that was how she had introduced herself.
"Hello, Mrs. Cheney."
"Is Little Chale in class? Is he in his classroom?" Jasmine Yale asked hastily and somewhat incoherently.
Her call caught the teacher off guard, it was so abrupt.
Even Jasmine herself felt that her concern... lacked reason.
It was as if something in her heart had suddenly stirred, and a terrible uneasy feeling started spreading throughout her body.
Jasmine's eyes were filled with panic and her hands were trembling.
"The kids are all napping at this hour. I've just checked, and Chale Cheney is asleep," the teacher patiently explained to Jasmine.
"He's asleep? Truly asleep..."
