A chance to live again

Chapter 2

Being given another chance to live again was something Nola wasn't expecting, but she was the happiest woman on earth when she opened her eyes and found herself in a strange room. The moon goddess gave her another chance to live again.

Tears brimmed in her eyes as memories of what happened replayed in her head. How she was betrayed by that bastard and lost her life if not that she was given another chance. That incident was still very much fresh in her head, and she swore to do everything in her power to make him pay for everything and make him regret ever messing with her.

"Is she awake?" She heard a faint masculine voice that disrupted her thoughts, and at that moment, a strong scent that made her wolf crawl with excitement filled the room. What's that scent? She asked herself, but that wasn't the important thing to think of at the moment.

"Yes, Alpha. She is," Even though the voice didn't sound like Miguel's, she panicked.

"You may leave now," Following the masculine voice, she heard thick footsteps drawing close to her, the scent only became stronger, and finally, she slowly opened her eyes to find a figure towering over her.

Although her vision wasn't strong enough to take in what he looked like, she could swear that he would be a handsome man. She could only see the spark in his green eyes, and that was all.

"Are you awake?" Again, his deep voice pierced through her ear, and her wolf has never been so excited as she was at that time she heard the man speak.

"Mate!" She snapped her eyes open when her wolf mind-linked her.

"Mate!" Her heart sank into her stomach when wolf quivered excitedly again, and now that her vision was clear, she could finally see what the man looked like. His green eyes were piercing into hers. He had thick eyebrows, a pointed nose, heart-shaped lips, glowy skin that screamed wealth, brown shady hair, and a dark aura surrounding him. He looked like he was in his early thirties.

"Mate!" Her wolf was even more excited to finally meet their mate after years of waiting, but she couldn't say the same for herself. This was like a disaster. She just got out of a mess and now she was on the verge of being in another one because she just found her mate. It wasn't something she could celebrate even though she has waited years for this day.

"Are you ok? Do you want me to call the doctor? Are you feeling pain anywhere?" He asked her, his eyes piercing down at her worriedly.

"Hmm," She nodded her head, and he slowly nodded too.

"How are you feeling now?" He asked her, and again, she nodded her head. She could literally feel her heart thumping hard against her chest, her body suddenly became hot as she looked away.

"I will send the maids to get you a change of dress and something to eat. Let me know if you need anything," He said, and when he stood up, she finally got a glimpse of how sexy and well-built this man looked.

"Who...are you?" Her curiosity drove her to ask him, and he stopped walking, turning to face her.

"Alpha Bryant," His reply was short, and he left afterward, leaving her asking herself the pack he was from, how he found her, and how she got here. All her questions were left unanswered as the thought of just finding their mate clouded her mind.

Her neck was strained and she could barely move her head when she sat up on the bed. With all the strength left in her, she managed to leave the bed, going to check her reflection in the floor-length mirror in the spacious room, and staring back at her from the mirror, was her horrible-looking self. Slowly, she lifted her hand to her neck, checking out the mark of Miguel's hand imprinted on her neck, and tears brimmed in her eyes as memories of that day came replaying in her head.

The knock on the door soon disrupted her thoughts, and two maids came inside after.

"Alpha asked us to bring this for you," One of the maids uttered, dropping a set of beautiful dresses carefully on the bed.

"He asked us to help you bathe," The maid said, and she slowly nodded her head. Although these people were strangers to her, she was used to getting this treatment back in her pack before she lost everything to that bastard.

They helped her bathe and got her dressed, leaving her in the room afterward.

Barely ten minutes after the maids left, Alpha Bryant walked in after he knocked and was ushered in. His eyes brightened with admiration as he saw how beautiful she looked in the dress as if it was tailored only for her, and he felt a sense of pride that he chose a perfect dress for her.

"Uhm... Thanks for the dress," Her voice almost failed her because of nervousness, but it worked, anyway.

"Hmm. You should get some rest. I just came to check on you. I will send the maids to bring dinner for you soon," He said to her, and she slowly nodded her head.

"Uhm... Excuse me, please. Can I ask a question?" He stopped and nodded his head.

"Uhm... How did I get here?" She asked the question she has been dying to ask, and his expression went blank.

"I brought you from the woods," He replied to her.

Just three days ago, he had gone hunting with his friend in the woods where he found her lifeless body laying helplessly on the ground, and he couldn't just abandon her there. The pain he felt in his heart then when he saw her almost lifeless body, has been living rent-free in his head, how his wolf has been attracted to her from that day and how he had looked forward to this day when he would finally see her awake was something he had anticipated.

Slowly, she nodded her head and her heart even tightened more, waves of pain spurred through her. Miguel didn't just kill her, but threw her into the woods for dogs to feed on. How cruel of him. What would he tell her people? She disappeared just like that? She asked herself, but bit her bottom lip because. In the end, nobody would be able to question that bastard or fight for her justice. They would all be scared of the monster that has taken over the Pack.

"You should get some rest now," Alpha Bryant said before he walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she sat on the bed. Did she deserve this kind of treatment from Miguel?
