Chapter 22

Why. Why is Gaia supporting my existence. Everything I know about this world tells me that Gaia should hate my guts. She should be raining thunder on my head, hell with how I recklessly use my magic all the time, Alaya should have sent the counterforce on me already. So why does nothing happen, logically speaking I should have already had a counterguardian or two hunting me down. Still, nothing.

I know I should be happy and not provoke them, however, I am in the nasuverse, a world where everything can, want's to and will kill you. So why hasn't anything happened yet.

Determined to get answers I do something incredibly stupid. Probing what I assume to be Gaia's perception, I try to make contact.

"This is either really smart or incredibly stupid. Let's just hope it's the former"

'JOLT'

With a mental jolt I find myself in an unknown area. It's beautiful, colourful plants and vegitation, massive trees, cute little animals roaming the area.

"Welcome"

Hearing a voice I turn around in shock.

"Who"

Standing right there being me I see a woman around her mid twenties. Similar to Kingprotea, her body is covered in moss and plant life which work as clothes, her appearance is extremely beautiful that it defies logic, she literally borders on, no, she is perfection.

"Who are you. No, you are Gaia, aren't you"

"In a matter of speaking"

Hearing her answer I'm left confused, if this isn't Gaia, then who is she.

"do you want to know"

Hearing her words I'm shocked, no way can she.

"Read your mind. Yes. But only in this place"

"Ok, then where or what is this place"

"We are currently in my soulscape"

"So where in your soul. Kind of like a reality marble"

"Similar but still very different"

"So, who are you, if your not Gaia, are you Alaya then"

Hearing my question she smiles.

"In a matter of speaking"

Again with that answer. Who is she, if she's not Gaia or Alaya, the who is she. looking at her smile I can tell she reading my mind waiting to see what conclusion I come to.

Wait, she didn't say she wasn't Gaia, or Alaya, she just said 'in a manner of speaking'. So she is, but isn't, hold on, from what I know Gaia and Alaya are two side of the same coin. Gaia is the planets will to survive and Alaya is mankind's will to survive, and she is. OH, no way, she, SHE IS THE WORLD, SHE'S NOT GAIA'S OR ALAYA. SHE'S BOTH."

"Correct. Good job. If I were to use human terminology then, Gaia is my instincts and Alaya is my immune system"

"How does that work"

"My instincts Gaia, works to maintain order and the status quo, getting rid of anything unnatural such as magecraft and Magician's, you Magician are the very embodiment of unnatural due to the connection you have to the root as well as the powers you possess. So Gaia works extra hard to get rid of you, not that that is easy. Due to the source of your power the root, you all posses a passive connection to it that makes getting rid of you extremely difficult. The best way to explain bit would be the cost to benefit ratio wouldn't be worth it. Where as my immune system Alaya works to purge anything harmful and maintain certain order. I'm sure with this explanation you can understand how things work"

"So their just subconscious instinct of yours"

"Mostly correct, they do have their own will and sentence. There like two living beings working for a greater being, like how subordinate gods serve greater gods"

"It's pretty confusing but I think I got it"

"Can I ask you something"

"Sure ask away, that's why I brought you here"

"in cases that the planet, you dies, what happens to you and why don't you stop it"

"Simple, I don't actually die, The multiverse is infinite however do you honestly think new Wolds just start randomly appearing and disappearing. Pruned world, worlds that are no longer supplied with energy use the remaining energy to, I suppose reset would be the best way to put it. Wipe all life and start over"

"So what your saying is that when mana runs out and the world dies, that's just the world, or I suppose that universes version of you cleaning house to start again"

"Correct, its like when playing a game, after you finish, you can just wipe your data and start again"

I'm literally freaking out here, the planet literally told me that the world and civilization as we know it is like a game to her, if it goes well, cool, of not wipe the slate clean and start again

"I'm curious about something, what about the machine gods, like how they came to earth from far away civilizations. If I remember correctly Artemis was originally a weapon satellite that shot lasers."

"Well, you don't honestly believe I or should I say Earth is the only one to do resets, do you."

"So it's like a never ending loop, the same thing happens over and over again. Isn't that the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over again and expecting different results"

"Yes and no, with each reset not everything is the same, their are a lot of variables, something could happen that throws the whole thing into a new path. Let's use Zelretch as an example, he told you about things he got from other worlds right, even one pruned, has he ver told you what he found if he looked where a pruned world was. The answer is nothing, when a world is pruned we move to a new spot on the great tree, this gives the appearance that the world is gone, we also use this to prank him sometimes, it always fun to see his reaction, also a new spot means a new experience, it might be similar, however it will be different, afterall we all want new experiences that's why I was so happy when you appeared. A foreign entity from outside of our multiverse, not only that obtained access to one of the primal forces. You are the ultimate wildcard, all the other Earth's and even other planets in this universe were so jealous when I told them about you"

HOLY CRAP, WHAT DID I JUST HEAR.

"Primal forces"

"Hehehehe, it's so funny swing how different your thoughts and actions are. Yes Primal forces or the more accurate, the primal speed or speed force as you call it. That is a power that we all know of well, however we can't interact with it. Our existence is tied to mana, and the primal forces don't mix with foreign energy's like mana"

"So that why I felt scared when I tried to mix them"

"Yes, it you had tried, the moment they would have collided you would have erased about 1/5 of this multiverse. The moment you first attempted it I almost had a panic attack, thankfully you stopped"

"I have mana so how come I can use it"

"During the time when your souls was moving though the void, you were just a soul, there was nothing to prevent you making contact with it. It seems your original world didn't have mana or any kind of energy to contaminate you with. This is why you could make contact with it. When you entered this world you saw the root and from that encounter you obtained mana and your true magic, however you still had your connection to the primal speed which is why you can use both"

"So I'm a walking miracle"
