Fate/Heroes

Waking up in an abandoned apartment in Gotham City was never how I imagined my Saturday morning. Seeing Gods walk amongst Men brought familiar yet foreign memories to mind. I knew who they were, yet I had absolutely no recollection of myself before today. Waves upon waves of experiences and feelings pilled themselves up like mountains within my mind, yet it was jumbled and incoherent. Being able to stand side-by-side against Demons and Beings whose very presence could shake the heavens and the earth was a dream that every kid had as a kid.... right? Now were did this Class Cards fit into the equation?

Chapter 1 New City? New World?

I awoke to the loud sound of police sirens echoing constantly out my window.

My eyes flickered in the loud dusk. The unmistakable high-pitched ringing caused me to go wide eyed and sit up, as the sound of blaring cars and flashing lights streaked down the street. An armored car drove in front of the police vehicle, shooting back at the approaching police officers.

"Hmm? This isn't my apartment.... where I am?", I noted the lack of any decor I once had in my bedroom, which was replaced by countless works of graffiti and an even larger number of broken glass and syringes.

I clutched my head as multiple images flashed through my mind. Experiences and feelings, from fourteen distinct places flashed through my mind which would have overloaded a normal persons psyche.

Memories of my past, living with my family and going to school like a normal boy. Hanging around with my friends and taking the piss with them at parties and other shit like that. Stuff that was considered mundane, and normal in the eyes of many.

But then came the other memories. Actions and emotions I knew that I had never experienced before, but I somehow just knew that they weren't any less fake than my mundane experiences.

Severing the sky, the materialization of mankind's true nature.... slaying gods and demons alike, being blessed and cursed with immortality.... a warrior unlike any other, completing tasks deemed impossible, becoming a god in the process.... a near invincible man, who was blessed in life and blessed in death.... a woman whose only sin was loving a man whom she was slowly killing, her body a vessel for the sun.....

A "King" whose ability to kill was unmatched, he walked between the boundary of life and death, executing justice to those who stray from the path..... a primordial being created from clay, a time before reason and humanity, his best friend also a "King"..... an Emperor that sough out the secrets to immortality, the man who forged a Dynasty..... A Demon King from the Sixth Heaven, the path to enlightenment blocked by her rage....

Seven Rings that Covered the Fiery Heavens, a man who blocked blows from legends..... a distortion in the world and its history, being granted the power of Alaya as a result..... A man, no, an embodiment of the Bodhisattva, who saved many from the abyss.... the final human in a world of gods and devils, a single fake smile plastered on his lips....

A small trail of blood leaked out of my nose. My vision grew distorted and my hearing fuzzy as the memories came on faster, and much more intense then before.

"W-what? What is this!? Who am I?".

The foreign experiences overwrote some of the past experiences. Things such as dates and names, people and places slowly faded from the twenty year olds mind, and an untold number of knowledge and wisdom engraved itself in his mind.

Stories and myths long forgotten by humanity, heroes and kings of old whose power toppled over mountains ans severed the seas. Their power killed divine beings and other heroes alike.

It was an Age of Gods. An Age of Strength. An Age of Heroes.

Thirteen names flashed through the young man's mind.

"Saber.... Lancer.... Archer.... Rider..... Caster..... Assassin..... Berserker..... Ruler..... Avenger..... Shielder..... Alter Ego..... Saver..... Gunner..... are these, Class Cards?".

The concept of Class Cards were not unfamiliar to the twenty year old. Despite most of his past self being eroded by the presence of these heaven-defying objects, an external force prevented some key knowledge from vanishing, and his mind slowly became clearer.

He let out a deep meaningful breath.

"These Class Cards..... was it "him" who gave them to me?", he muttered.

A crimson eyed, pointy teethed old man came to mind. His pursuit for entertainment unmatched by any being in the entire multiverse, multiple versions of multiple people suffering from his power.

He leaned back against the wall and peered down at his body. Black pants with a black shirt and tie. He felt as though he looked presentable enough, although the presence of minor creases and one or two stains on his midnight colored clothing sullied his image.

The young man struggled to stand up, and his legs felt wobbly, as if he hadn't stood up in months. The feeling of warm blood flowing to his two lower appendages bringing a slight relaxing sigh to his face.

"I need to know where I am. As far as I am aware, I could be halfway around the world in some war torn country where the laws are created by the corrupt and powerful. If I'm luck I'll be in America or Britain. An English speaking country would be much easier to obtain information rather than a.....".

My words ceased as I looked out the window and up into the cloudy night sky. The clouds looked more like smog or smoke, and created a heavy, dangerous feeling to the city below.

Skyscrapers that pierced the sky and several monorails that ran through the city. The sounds of police sirens constantly going off and the occasional gunshot echoed throughout the night.

A single bat light shone in the night sky. Visible from miles away at the very least.

"....Gotham City? The crime capital of the world? But-!".

The image of a annoying Dead Apostle came to mind once more.

It was certainly within his power to send me to another world, not just across the globe, and from the stories I read about him, he liked watching people squirm as they tried to burrow their way out of the hole he'd dug for them.

But this was different. This wasn't a Highschool DxD crossover. Nor was this a Naruto or Bleach crossover.

This was D fucking C! Contrary to the Marvel Extended Universe, which was equally as colossal and convoluted and complex as the DC Extended Universe, this was much different. The strongest being on Earth right this second, was an alien who could kill every other being on Earth without any trouble if he so wanted to.

It wasn't just larger than DxD or Naruto either. It was the dark to Marvel's light. The things that happened in DC weren't just bigger, more powerful villains were walking amoungst men and women, and things that went bump in the night were the least of my worries.

That is if this wasn't another timeline.

His power was nothing to some of the beings from his past memories, or his new memories, but his power was legendary nonetheless.

The twenty year old looked up at the moon now visible in the night sky and he raised his middle fingers to the heavenly body in rage and hatred.

"ZELRETCH!".
