Originally, the Shen family had proposed Lu Zhu to the Youngest of the Hu Family because they favored his temperament, and with Lu Zhu being skilled at putting on an act, she appeared every bit the lady of a reputable family in front of others, which satisfied the Hu family. Later, when Lu Zhu committed those misdeeds and could no longer marry into the Hu Family, they did not make a fuss with the Shen family but only hoped that the Shen family could act as a matchmaker and find a gentle and virtuous wife for the Youngest of the Hu Family.
In Liu Tinglan's eyes, the Hu family was quite admirable, at least having open-minded in-laws, devoid of messy relatives, and with the family being independent, there were no unstable elements. Plus, with the Youngest of the Hu Family being of good character, marrying into the Hu family would mean not worrying about food and clothing, as long as one respectfully took care of the in-laws.
