In Love

  As expected, monday was a really hectic day for everyone, but Rodney seemed to be more affected by this. First, Treasure had ditched him during the weekend and now, she moved around the company with Jake who everyone nicknamed a very smart fella whose gaits and looks couldn't be compared with those of any other male in the whole company. Treasure had even failed to recognize Rodney's presence. She was all about this new guy, (Jake) sending him on personal errands, working and chatting with him all day too. Rodney couldn't just take this.

"Who's that guy?" He asked himself aloud.

"Don't you know sir?" Jane, one of the receptionists asked. Rodney turned around in shock. He didn't know he had spoken so loud for anyone to hear him.

"He is the CEO's personal assistant." Jane said. Didn't you know?" She asked again, but Rodney was lost staring at Jake and Treasure as they both walked to the elevator door. He bit his lip in anger and walked away ignoring Jane.

"What's wrong with sir? Why is he so upset?" She asked herself with a frown

"Mr Jackson is really very cute." She said again resting her elbows on the counter, daydreaming.

At Treasure's office, Jake and Treasure were trying to figure out how the company funds suddenly disappeared.

"Asking him mind questions won't work Treasure!" Jake argued.

"We need to find out what's going on ourselves, and this is a positive step towards achieving that, trust me." He said, but Treasure wore a worried expression.

"I don't know, but what if I'm mistaking about this whole thing? It will be a waste of your precious time." She said, but Jake sat beside her.

"I don't care," he said

"you're my friend Treasure, so I really don't mind." He said staring into her eyes. Treasure was lost too. Jake had really beautiful eyes, and his stares were filled with love, holding a spark of hope in them.

"Thanks." She managed to speak looking away from his eyes. Jake smiled, and taking Treasure's laptop from her, he said.

"You look really beautiful in corporate wears, but stunning in tutus." Treasure blushed.

"Thanks" she replied.

"...and you've got really beautiful eyes." She complimented. Jake looked away from the laptop. That was the first time Treasure had complimented him since they met. He was still lost in his own world when someone tapped at the door. Mr Donald walked in and greeted Treasure.

"Hello Mr Donald, what brings you here?" She asked.

"Well, I thought I could be of help to whatever it is that has forced you to get a PA so early." He said looking suspiciously at Jake, but Treasure laughed.

"Thank you Mr Donald, I appreciate your care, it's never too early or too late to get a PA, and Jake here, is capable of handling those problems you think has forced me to get a PA." She replied wisely. Mr Donald was very disappointed. He had a feeling that Jake was there on a very important mission, but wasn't sure exactly what it was. Rodney had also complained to him concerning Jake, posing a threat to winning Treasure's heart.

"I believe we talked about the solutions to those problems and how Mr Rodney Donald can deal with them" he said, but Treasure replied

"Yes, Mr Donald, I don't remember telling Mr Rodney Donald not to handle this problem, I only brought him a helper, just to reduce the workload" she said wisely.

"Ok, I should be on my way then." He said still looking at Jake.

"But if you have any difficulties at all, please alert me." He said.

"Thank you" Treasure replied, and Mr Donald left the office. Jake was still wondering why Mr Donald had given him that suspicious look when Treasure brought him out of his thoughts

"Hurry up Jake." She said

"it will be lunch time soon, and we have to eat together, I've got some home made food with me." Treasure said.

"Wow! that's awesome!" He exclaimed still working.

        The next day, and the days after, nothing changed. Treasure and Jake were still working together to find out exactly what was going on in the company, while Rodney couldn't help feeling jealous seeing Jake and Treasure together. Once, one morning, when Jake was a bit late to the office, Rodney seized his opportunity to ask Treasure out on another date, this time, he couldn't hide it under the pretence of work. Treasure had been so surprised at his guts, but She accepted him after so much considerations. After work that day, Treasure had dropped Jake at his hotel before heading home to prepare for her date that night. Rodney picked her up at her house, and took her to the same restaurant Jake was chilling at without knowing. He only realized his mistakes, when they both met Jake sitting at a table adjacent theirs at the restaurant. Like magic, Treasure forgot the reason Rodney had ask her out and turned the supposed date for two, into one for three. Jake had tried to excuse himself countless times when he noticed Rodney's countenance, but Treasure was too engrossed in their conversations and won't let him leave. Finally, he got his chance, and left them with the excuse of going out for a smoke, but ten minutes later, Treasure excused herself to the ladies too. Rodney was red with anger, but he knew there was nothing he could do, so he sat waiting for Treasure to return.

     Meanwhile, Treasure bumped into Jake on her way out from the convenience, and they both returned to the table together. Rodney was very furious seeing them together again, and by the time they had discussed for only half an hour, he complained of fatigue and asked that he dropped Treasure at her house. Treasure refused, she asked him to leave, while she stayed back to chat more with Jake. Rodney wasn't comfortable with this, but he couldn't think of any other excuse to take Treasure away. So, he left very dissapointed. Treasure and Jake discussed for a while before they finally said their goodbyes and Treasure headed home.

      The next day at work, Rodney had become a shadow of himself.  At the elevator door, he met Treasure and Jake together again, and out of jealousy, he  purposely poured his cup of latte on Jake's shirt. Things got even worse for him as he watched Treasure dab out the stain from Jake's shirt with her handkerchief in the most loving way. He had tried so many times to embarrass Jake publicly, but Treasure always got in the way.

"It's so difficult to get Treasure's attention with this Jake guy around" he muttered to himself

"I need to discuss this with dad" he said.

Jake understood at once what his feelings for Treasure meant when she hugged him again to appreciate him for his help so far.

"I honestly didn't see this coming" he muttered to himself

"What do I do now?" He asked no one in particular

"I have fallen in love with Treasure!" He said as he clutched the file in his hand. He thought about his friendship with Treasure and how his confession might affect it, then his father and how he was going to react when be learns of his son's feelings for his own boss.

"I can't let Treasure know just yet" he resolved in his mind.

It was exactly two weeks since Jakes arrival and they were yet to find out the cause of the company's insolvency. Treasure had refused to get help from Rodney, Mr Donald or anyone else except Jake, but she was already loosing her patience and her confidence in their plans.

"Jake, you've got less than two weeks left, and we are yet to find the solution to this problem." Treasure said burying her face in her palms, but Jake held her hands.

"Relax Tresh" He said.

"I've got a plan"

"I've been going through a lot of documents lately, and I realized something really strange with Rodney's unit." Jake said

"His accounts have been falsified" Jake said and Treasure's eyes shone in surprise.

"W...what do you mean Jake?" She asked

"A...are you sure about this?" She asked, but Jake replied

"I'm pretty sure about this, but let's focus on the problem at hand for now, and to that respect, I have a perfect plan, and I tell you this one is going to work" he Said. Treasure heaved a sigh as she held on to his hand

"I really hope it does" she said. Jake got lost in his thoughts again.

"If this continues, how am I supposed to keep my friendship with Treasure this formal and not intimate?" Jake thought to himself

"How did I call so deep in love with you Treasure?" He asked himself

"Are you alright Jake?" Treasure asked as she nudged him

"Y...yes I am" Jake replied

Rodney had informed Mr Donald about his inability to woo Treasure with Jake's presence.

"What do you suggest I do dad?" Rodney asked, but Mr Donald replied in anger.

"How useless can you be?" He asked, but Rodney said nothing in reply

"No more delays, introduce your solution to Treasure before her PA does that's the only way to resolve this. Act fast and stop waiting for opportunities!" Mr Donald said

"Yes dad!" Rodney replied and walked out of Mr Donald's office.

Meanwhile, Jake discussed the solution he came up with to save Treasure's company with Mrs Daisy and she bought the idea

"Its obvious I cannot pay back the money your company owes, and even if I do, my company will fold up." Mrs Daisy said,

"it's also impossible to merge the two companies, they are not rendering the same services. Rendezvous is a textile company, while JGM is all about gadgets. This is the best way to save the company, Jake, I commend your efforts" she said,

"But how can we reach out to all these companies?" She asked again

"How do we persuade them all?"

"Leave that to me" Jake replied. Mrs Daisy and Treasure looked at him.

"well um, since JGM is in debt and is willing to turn those debts into shares, why won't they give their consent?" He said

"It's for their own good afterall" he spoke again

"JGM owes about three companies, and if we can persuade them to let us turn those debts it owes into shares, it will be very helpful. They'd be part of the company, and with their funding, JGM might get on its feet again." He persuaded, and Mrs Daisy lips stretched into a smile.

"That's a wonderful idea." She said.

"Let's do this" Treasure said

On the other hand, Rodney came to hand Treasure the files that could help the company's insolvency, but found Jake instead.

"Miss Marcus isn't here" Jake said

"Why don't I take these documents from you?" He asked but Rodney refused to give in, only then did Jake realize there was something really fishy about Rodney.

       At his hotel, Jake called his uncle to inform him of the situation at hand.

"I'm really sorry Mr Jackson" he addressed his uncle formally

"JGM is going bankrupt and might not be able to pay back the money it owes you" he said

"But I have figured out a way to deal with it, what do you think about owning an equivalent share of the money JGM owes you?" He asked

"Alright, it's a good idea" Mr Jackson replied

"...but I've got no time for meetings" he complained

"You have me at your service Sir" Jake said and Mr Jackson beamed

"Once you're back here, I'm going to adopt you from your dad" he joked

"Yes!" Jake exclaimed

"That was a huge success...one down three more to go" he said as he rummaged through his desktop. Treasure walked in without his knowledge. At once she noticed the smiles on his face. She sat on his desk making Jake jerk in a shock.

"Gosh!! You startled me" he complained trying to catch his breadth

"Why are you so happy?" Treasure asked with a smile.

"JGM is free from one debt." He said. Treasure's eyes widened.

"What do you mean Jake?" She asked.

"Well..." he said as he left his seat to pour himself a cup of coffee from Treasure's coffee maker

"my uncle, Mr Peter Jackson is the CEO of Jackson Dealers, one of the companies JGM is owing, and he has agreed to take shares in exchange of the money, so..."

"Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you Jake!" Treasure yelled drowning the rest of his words. She threw her hands around him and hugged him tightly to herself

"I can't believe this, ever since I met you again, it has been blissful all the way!" She said still hugging him, but Jake was finding it difficult to curb his feelings for Treasure. He had thought that with time it was going to fade away, but the more he spent time with her, the more his heart irked to let out his feelings.

"What has happened to me? Why can't I stay away from Treasure?" He thought to himself.

"Im loosing it. Treasure is so innocent, but I have betrayed our friendship by falling in love with her. Oh no, what must I do? Why can't this feeling go away? Why is it getting even worse by the day?" He thought to himself.

"Are you alright Jake?" Treasure asked when she had released him.

"Is something on your mind?." She asked, but Jake forced a smile.

"No Treasure" he said

"I was just thinking of the best way to persuade the other CEOs JGM owes." He lied. Treasure held his hands.

"You need to calm down." She said.

"If you freak out, then I'd freak out. Let's get back to work okay?" She asked. "Yeah." Jake replied

Jake and Treasure settled down to figure out how to reach JGM's creditors.

"Let's just give them a call, then if we need to travel to meet anyone of them, we'd make preparations towards that." Jake said.

"Yes, that's right, I agree with you." Treasure replied, and rummaging through her laptop, she got out the personal phone numbers of the creditors.

Jake went through them, and looking intently at one of the numbers, he said.

"Let's call this one." pointing at the name,

"kara Montez and Treasure nodded.

"Hello, who's this?" The calm and breathtaking voice of a woman greeted Jake's ears.

"I'mm sorry to have disturbed you madam." He said.

"Should have called earlier, but..."

"It's ok..." The woman spoke calmly, giving Jake the courage to continue.

"Um...thank you Mrs Montez." He said.

"I am Jake Jackson, PA to the CEO of JGM internationals." The woman was quiet for a moment before she spoke.

"Oh...JGM!, I remember now, so Mr Jackson, what do I owe this call?" She asked, and Jake told her everything concerning their current situation. He spoke at length, and after so much considerations, the woman accepted. She hung up the call, but promised to visit Coventry to complete the necessary paper works and attend the meeting of the new shareholders.

"Yes!!" Treasure and Jake exclaimed.

"Two down, two more to go." Treasure said laughing, but fantasized going out on dates with Treasure.

"Mr Achille .E. and lord Kramer, those are the two creditors left." Treasure said trying to dial Mr Achille .E's number, but Jake took the phone from her and dialed the number himself. Mr Achille .E. was very difficult to convince, but after what seemed like forever, he finally gave in, and also accepted the date Jake had given the others for signing the papers and the meetings. By the time Jake had hung up the call, It was already too late to call lord Kramer. He was also exhausted.

"That'd be all for today" Treasure said

"Let's call Lord Kramer tomorrow morning" she said

"Alright" Jake replied as he let out a yawn.

Jake got to work very early the next day. Seeing that no one else was around, he sneaked into Rodney's office and rummaged through the documents on his table.

Ten minutes later, Rodney came in but Jake was long gone from his office.

Treasure walked into her office and found Jake on a call with Lord Kramer

"Please Sir, this is the only way to help JGM offset the debts it owes, the others have already agreed to this, and its for your own benefit." Jake pleaded.

"Fine then" Lord Kramer finally replied

"it had better be worth it or I'd sue JGM." He spoke sternly

"Thank you Sir!" Jake said delighted.

"Good morning Miss Marcus" he greeted as he noticed Treasure

"We have successfully reached out to all of JGM's creditors, now all we have to do is set up a date for a meeting" he said

"Thank you Jake." Treasure said, but her attention was suddenly drawn to the door. Someone had tapped at it

"Good morning Miss Marcus" Rodney said as he walked in.

"What brings you here" Treasure asked sitting on the couch closest to her. She gestured wordlessly to Rodney to sit too.

"I've found a way to solve this company's problem of insolvency." He said, but Jake and Treasure exchanged knowing looks.

"Thank you Rodney, but I don't think your ideas would be necessary now." Treasure replied

"My PA and I have already found a way to lift the company from its current situation." She said proudly. Rodney was irritated. He gave Jake a reproachful look, but nodded his head, but as he stood up to leave, Jake spoke

"Let's hear your ideas, it might still be of help" Rodney stood still thinking of the best excuse to give Jake, but Jake was no fool

"Those documents in your hand" Jake spoke

"Will they really save JGM from the trouble you created?" He asked and Rodney shivered

"He...he created? What do you mean?" Treasure asked

"I told you before now that I found some falsified documents in Mr Rodney Donald's unit" Came Jake

"Huge sums have been withdrawn from the company's accounts but those records were never found in the financial unit, so I thought Mr Rodney here might have a good explanation for that. I sneaked into his office and found these documents" Jake said as he handed Treasure the documents he had stolen from Rodney's office. Too surprised for words, Rodney looked at the envelope in his hand and realized it was the wrong one.

"H...how dare you sneak into my office?!" He said as he reached out to grab Jake by the collar, but Treasure landed a slap on his face.

"Can you explain this?" She asked furiously, but Rodney couldn't find the right words to explain himself

"L..leave!" Treasure yelled

"Leave my office!" She said again

"You will be punished for this" she said

With Rodney gone, Treasure collapsed into an armchair. She buried her face in her palms and sobbed. Jake held her in his arms.

"Don't cry Treasure, it's a good thing we found out sooner" he said

"But we do we do now?" Treasure asked

"We have already contacted JGM's creditors how do we cancel such a proposal? We'd look like a joke" she cried

"I'm I really that bad at this?" She asked, but Jake hugged her

"You're doing a good job Miss Marcus, we are not cancelling the proposal, let's proceed with it." Jake said

"It would be a slap to the faces of your enemies when you resolve this without their help" Jake said

"Let's do this together" he spoke again as he wiped the tears off Treasure's face
