CHAPTER 6

Peach pulled the cobwebs off her eyesight with her fingers as she walked deeper into her mother's room. It was creepy in here. Everywhere seemed to be coated with webs that tugged a frown on her lips. Didn't her father come here frequently? Why had he never cleaned things up? No one should come into this type of pigsty. They weren't rearing spiders for crying out loud.

She turned her head to the left and stared at her mother's picture. It was strangely out of place in this place. There was not one spec of dust lining it. It was as if it had been cleaned recently. Lacey Winter looked at Peach from the safety of the framed portrait. Her eyes were the colour of darkness, dark. She was smiling widely and looking purely innocent in her button-necked blouse.
