Roan took her up the stairs despite her protests and before Nova knew it, she was in a much larger room that was tagged as hers. Roan had to leave because he had to attend to business but he said he would be back to pick her up for the dinner and that she was free to go wherever she wished in his mansion.
Nova marveled at this, what was it about her that made a multi-billionaire trust her instantly? She could be a criminal for all he knew and run away after robbing him…
That thought made her laugh, she rose to her feet to explore the room. The guest room had been done in shades of brown; compared to this, it looked little. The new room she was brought into was easily double the size of the guest room, done in opal pink and white marble, it looked very feminine.
The plush carpet under her bare feet was a dusky shade of pink, her ruined heels forgotten in the previous room. There were two floor-to-ceiling wardrobes, as well as a fireplace, and the queen-sized bed was laid impeccably with pink silk sheets and a mountain of pillows.
Nova didn't know what to expect when she looked in the wardrobes, one was empty and the other was stocked with fresh linens for the bed and cotton pink bathrobes which were hung neatly. She eyed them enviously, tempted to switch her uncomfortable dress for a cozy bathrobe…
As she thought that, she realized that she didn't have an outfit to wear for the company dinner. The dress she was wearing currently was out of the question, not to mention, her heels had broken. She couldn't even try to get her clothes from Levi, not because he wouldn't give her but because they were too cheap. She couldn't possibly wear her usual clothes to accompany a multi-billionaire.
What was she thinking as she agreed to accompany Roan to his company dinner? She would just make herself a laughingstock and embarrass Roan who had done nothing but help her. She would just have to tell him when he came around again, that she couldn't make it to the dinner.
She left the wardrobes and slowly walked around the room, noting that there were way too many doors for a single room. Sure it was a huge one but four doors were far too many, just where did they all lead?
She knew that the first one was the entrance to her room so she went right to the second one and tried it, it was locked and she didn't find any key nearby. She moved on to the next door and tried it, surprised when it opened.
Her mouth fell open at the sight that greeted her, it was an en suite bathroom. It wasn't just the size of the bathroom that wowed her but also the decor, which was made in shades of soft pink just like the rest of the room. The sinks and the bathtub were carved out of rose quartz, giving the bathroom an elegance that was hardly found in most bathrooms.
The sight alone made her want to shower, and after the day she just had, she actually deserved to take a long steaming shower. The elegant bathtub also looked inviting but she didn't want to overstep, content with a shower.
Although the wardrobes were empty, the bathroom was stocked with toiletries. Expensive brands that Nova could only dream of, filled up the shelves in the bathroom, making her want to take that shower even more.
It was fine for her to do that at least right? Roan wouldn't mind, would he?
Nova gave in to the temptation and took off her clothes, neatly folding them and carefully putting them away. With her cheap clothes out of sight, she could be delusional and pretend that this was her life, a lavish one filled with extravagance.
After a soothing shower, she stepped out of the bathroom smelling of strawberries and sugar, a blissful smile on her face. The bathrobes were just as cozy as they looked, she belted the robe and walked into the bedroom, her hair in a smaller towel.
After the steamy cloud of the bathroom faded away, she noticed that there was a covered tray on the table in the sitting area in front of the fireplace. She walked over to it and picked up the note placed beside it; it was from the chef. He wrote to inform her that Mr. Reyes instructed him to prepare the best for her, and encouraged her to give him feedback.
The chef had sounded nervous in the note, Nova couldn't understand why when she opened the tray because the meal she was served looked and smelled perfect and she knew it would taste the same.
As someone who had done all of the cooking for well over a year now, she knew how much skill it took to prepare delicate and complex dishes such as the one she was served.
There was too much food for her to even dream of finishing it but she wished she could just so that she could show the chef just how much she appreciated his cooking. She did so in the form of a note, however, about to take it to the kitchen herself only to realize that she didn't know where it was. She was also in a bathrobe and it would be strange for a stranger like her to wander around the mansion wearing nothing but a bathrobe while carrying a tray.
She decided to use the button to summon a maid, feeling a little guilty about making someone clear her dishes. A maid appeared in no time, she was dressed in a common black and white uniform, a white cap on her head as she pushed a mobile tray in.
"Thank you," Nova said kindly to the maid only to be given a disdainful look.
The maid had worn a scowl on her face when she came in and it only darkened when Nova spoke to her.
