"What do you think you are doing?"
Serena froze mid-bite, the fork with a delicate piece of cake hovering just inches from her lips. Her gaze flicked upward, meeting his sharp eyes. His tone was biting, sharp enough to slice through the light-hearted moment she'd been enjoying.
"Uhh..." She blinked, her brow furrowing as she glanced between the cake and him, clearly confused by his sudden attention. After all, he had walked right past her when he stormed inside without so much as a glance in her direction. And now, here he was, making a scene. "I think I was about to eat some cake."
She raised the fork higher, letting the light catch the glossy frosting. It looked delicious, but his foul mood was overshadowing her appetite. Serena held it up for him to see, arching an eyebrow. "Want some?"
