Chapter 2

January 4, Year x775

"Good to be back home," Laxus spoke, smiling at the three-story building shaped like a pagoda. "Though I do wish you chose a better mission– that guy was a complete weirdo," he added, face contorting in disgust.

Makarov chuckled at his grandson's complaints as he took a step toward the door. "Come now, it's not every day that you get a chance to take down an entire B-rank Dark Guild. Hell, it's only my position as a Wizard Saint that allowed me to request the location; usually, they would just send an established S-rank mage."

[A/N: Only Wizard Saints are privy to the location of Dark Guilds' guildhalls because the Magic Council knows they won't leak it, ensuring that the Dark Guild isn't given time to evacuate.]

"I'm sure they'd love to deal with cleaning the paint off their clothes," Laxus replied dryly, stepping into the guild along with Makarov.

As the duo stepped into the guild hall, they were greeted with total chaos: tables were overturned, chairs were flying through the air, and members of the guild were engaged in battles with each other.

"Gone for a day and the guild turns into an arena. Good luck paying for the repairs," Laxus laughed, tilting his head slightly as a spell whizzed past his face, hitting the wall behind him with a dull thud.

Makarov's chuckle faded, replaced by a deep frown as his eyebrows knitted together. "You… YOU BRATS!" he bellowed, earning fearful looks from the guild as they finally took notice of the old man and his grandson.

Laxus raised a brow at the sudden change in demeanor. 'Man he flips his switch quickly when it comes to the guild's finances,' he mused, as he nervously took a step back, realizing what usually followed his grandfather's outburst.

And his caution was rewarded, as soon the short stature that had become synonymous with Makarov began to morph into something else entirely. Makarov's form began to shimmer with magical energy as he began to enlarge rapidly, his body reaching massive proportions.

"No matter how many times I see his magic at work the awe remains," Laxus muttered, whistling in appreciation.

'Maybe now that I've become a S-rank mage he'll finally teach it to me,' he wondered with a thoughtful frown before being snapped out of his musings by the meek voice of one of his guildmates.

"Uh, w-we were just having fun," he stuttered, as the rest of the guild hesitantly backed the blue-haired mage.

Suddenly, Makarov's gaze snapped onto the man, as he questioned the man with a booming voice. "Fun, you say? Fun? Do you think it will be fun when I will have to replace all the destroyed furniture?!"

Laxus winced at the volume. His enhanced hearing was usually a boon, however, near his grandfather it often proved the opposite, doing more harm than good.

The entirety of the guild wisely chose to remain silent, not wishing to anger the master further. The entirety of the guild except for one person, who broke into laughter, easily cutting through the tension with his joviality.

"Is something funny Gildarts?" Makarov asked as the orange-haired man quickly shook his head.

"Forget all that," he began, drawing the ire of the guild master who was imagining his wallet crying. "Did Laxus pass his trial?" he inquired, with the rest of the guild turning expectantly to the master.

Makarov sighed, beginning to revert back to his original small stature, as he jumped onto the second-floor railing.

"I was planning on making that announcement when I arrived until you brats decided to make my wallet bleed," he glared at the guild without any real heat. "Anyway, I suppose I should tell you now," he continued.

"Regarding the one member who took this year's S-rank trial," Makarov paused, letting the suspense build as the guild shot him annoyed looks.

"He has… PASSED! Welcome Fairy Tail's newest S-rank mage, Laxus Dreyar, the youngest S-rank mage in the entirety of Fiore!" he yelled, pride evident in his booming voice.

At the revelation of their guild having one more S-rank member, the prior chaotic energy had completely dispelled, instead replaced with an uproar of cheers and applause.

Members who had just been at odds with one another now stood next to each other, arms draped around the others' shoulders as they roared in celebration.

Soon Laxus' name began to be chanted throughout the guildhall, as the boy blushed slightly at the praise of his entire guild.

…

After the party had died down a bit, Laxus could be seen sitting on one of the many empty chairs on the second floor, idly chatting with Gildarts.

"You excited to take on some new quests?" the crash mage asked, taking periodic sips of his drink as Laxus watched as the rest of the guild broke into another spat.

'I have to find a way to strengthen the guild,' he thought, taking a glance at the empty chairs around Gildarts and him, silently lamenting at how there were no other S-ranks save for himself and Gildarts.

"Yeah," he replied. "I'll finally be able to take on some harder quests, and the old man might actually teach me his magic now."

Gildarts chuckled at that, his face full of smiles as he watched Makarov once again scold the guild for the destruction they caused.

"Titan Magic, eh?" he asked as he leaned back into his chair, kicking his feet up onto the railing. "Seems like Fairy Tail will have another ace soon. Maybe then I'll finally have some free time; maybe I'll stop taking quests for a while."

"Don't do that," Laxus muttered, knowing full well that if Gildarts retired the future of Fairy Tail would be bleak. Laxus eyed Gildarts for a moment before turning his gaze toward Cana.

'I really have to help her tell Gildarts– perhaps if he knew that Cana is his daughter Gildarts wouldn't take the 100-year quest.'

Laxus had already spoken to the girl about letting Gildarts know she was his daughter, however, the girl vehemently refused, believing that she was too weak. No matter how much he tried to convince her, it was all to no avail.

"Don't worry, I don't plan on slowing down anytime soon," Gildarts laughed, having heard Laxus' muttering. "Well I should be off now, the Magic Council needs me to exterminate a particularly difficult-to-kill monster that's been wreaking havoc," he added, dusting off his pants as he stood up.

With his company gone, Laxus turned his gaze back to the guild, a smile forming on his face.

Seven years. That was how long it had been since he had been brought to this strange world.

(POV Change– First Person POV)

I groaned as my eyes fluttered open, slowly adjusting to the blinding white of the room.

'Huh, where am I? This isn't my room.' I wondered as I steadily sat up in my new bed.

'The room kinda looks similar to that of a hospital, perhaps that's where I am?' I groggily thought whilst looking around the room questioningly; though before I had time to ask any more questions a flurry of memories assaulted me.

After an unknown amount of time, the flood of memories finally ceased and left me cold with shock, "There's no way, I'm… I'm Laxus?" I muttered as I let out a shaky breath of air.

Apparently, I had somehow died - and wasn't that a wonderful thought - and woken up as Laxus Dreyar; one of the most popular characters from the anime and manga series of Fairy Tail.

The body I had taken over had just turned 7 and died from the forceful infusion of a lighting dragon Lacrima into his body. To make it worse it was his own dad who gave him this fate; truly the perfect birthday.

I sighed while rubbing my temples feeling terrible for taking over the body of a kid, one who suffered such a tragic fate nonetheless. Though I also wondered why I was here, and more importantly what brought me here, and why a being of such power would take an interest in me.

Before I could continue going down the spiral of self-pity I was currently going down I heard a noise.

*Creak*

I quickly turned my head towards the door that had just been opened by an elderly man of extremely short stature.

"Ah, Laxus, it seems as if you're awake." The short man I knew to be Makarov Dreyer spoke with what sounded akin to relief as he walked up and hopped onto the side of my bed.

Quickly masking my shock at seeing one of my favorite Fairy Tail characters in real (?) life I quickly replied, "Ya Mak- gramps," I instantly berated myself for the small slip-up, knowing the short man in front of me had caught onto it if the slight narrowing of his eyes was anything to go by.

"How are you feeling now? I know having your body forced to accept an outside source of energy would have caused great pain," he sighed with a great deal of sadness coloring his tone.

"Y- yeah, it wasn't fun," I told him truthfully albeit a bit awkwardly while rubbing the back of my head, knowing full well the process didn't just cause a lot of pain, it had outright killed the kid.

Though Makarov merely nodded his head solemnly, "Ivan you really messed up, where did I go wrong with you my foolish son?" I heard him mutter to himself, likely due to the enhanced hearing that was found in those with Dragon Slayer Magic.

"But don't worry Gramps, I'll be back to 100% in no time!" I shouted feeling a need to cheer the old man up, though I immediately regretted it as I winced in pain.

After worriedly checking me over he started chuckling, "That's good, I need someone to become the next guild leader after all," he spoke cheekily whilst ruffling my hair.

Before I could complain about him messing up my hair he spoke, "Well I'm sure I've bothered you enough; I'll come back in some time, try and get a little bit of rest for now," he waved as he hopped off my bed and left the room I was currently situated in, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

…

It's been just about 2 days since I've been transported to this new world and body. Thankfully everyone (aside from Makarov) had been giving Laxus, or I guess me now, some space which has allowed me to just sit there and ponder on my current situation.

It's been weird no doubt, trying to come to terms with the fact that after my death my soul had taken over the body of a 7-year-old in a world that was supposed to be fiction. Honestly, that was the weirdest part about the whole ordeal, the fact that I was in a world that wasn't supposed to exist.

In fact, at first, I just believed it to be a dream, one incredibly vivid tale told by my imagination but the fact that I had all of Laxus' memories to the T stopped me from believing that it was just a dream; though I had to make sure, and using what was in Laxus' memory I tried to see if I could feel a connection to his magic.

And so I sat there for a day straight, almost giving up when it felt like I would get nowhere with my impromptu meditation, but then I felt it; it was like being awoken from a slumber you had no clue you were taking.

I could hear its gleeful cackling, its sound akin to that of thunder in the most violent of storms. The, no, my magic churning violently; not in rejection but more so acknowledgment. It was a truly wondrous feeling knowing that I had such an element at my beck and call.

Though after that nothing of significance had happened, well nothing aside from the fact that I was apparently already given the green light by Porlyusica to leave the med bay whenever I felt like it.

And that's what brought me to my current predicament, preparing myself to meet the younger version of the cast of one of my favorite anime in real life.

…

That's it for this chapter. I hope you guys enjoyed it, and let me know if you have any wishes for certain people to join the guild.

Anyway, aside from that enjoy the rest of your day.
