412. Terms and Conditions

Mavis goes to meet Makarov and tells him about her plan to live with August for a while. He doesn't stop her and only tells her to enjoy whatever she does. Makarov doesn't even question August because he knows that Ben won't let August go without consideration.

Then Mavis and August disappear to live the life as family they never had. Ben is glad he didn't kill August in the war now because Mavis looks very happy to know she has a blood family. She has lost her blood family since she was very young, after all, so she is happy to have a blood family again.

Meanwhile, Ben is staying in Irene's prison cell, and Erza has left. She knows what Ben will do, but she doesn't really care because her family is Fairy Tail. Still, there is a bitter feeling in Erza's heart because she finally knows who her mother is, and now her mother will die.

"Hurry up and kill me. At least I can stop the suffering of being a Dragon."

"So you really want to be a human again, huh? Well, I won't help you even if I know how to do that, and I don't know it anyway. Besides, that reason doesn't justify everything you've done with Zeref. I am not a good person, but I know my limit and I never killed innocent people. You and Zeref on the other hand have caused many innocent people's death."

"So you want to be an enforcer of humanity and justice now?"

"Yeah, why not? I once died because justice couldn't stand straight, so I enforced it myself. Now, I will make sure I enforce it when I encounter crimes."

Irene doesn't understand what Ben means by 'died once' and Ben doesn't bother to explain it too. He just walks forward and stands in front of Irene with a calm expression.

"When I killed Zeref, I tried to make him suffer as much as possible to pay for his sins. But I will make your death fast and without any pain. Think of this as me paying my respect for the 1st Dragon Slayer, the Queen of Dragnof, and my friend's mother."

"I won't thank you for it."

"No need."

*SWISH*

Irene's neck suddenly gets cut and Ben holds her head, so it won't fall. There is no blood nor scream, she just died like that. Ben cut her neck using a very sharp Light Blade. The blade only appeared for a flash and Irene didn't even feel the cut.

It was made of Ben's Light Magic which made it very sharp. It's also very hot and the heat sealed the wound on the neck, so the blood doesn't come out. Her death was instant and she didn't feel anything because it was too fast.

Some of Irene's power enters Ben's body because he is the one who slew her. But he doesn't get much because he is already far too strong to get that much power from Irene. It doesn't matter though because he doesn't need it for himself, he needs it for someone else.

Ben puts Irene's head on her dead body and touches her hair. Suddenly, many glowing magic letters come out of Ben's hand and covers Irene's whole dead body. She glows brightly, but then her body gets smaller and smaller.

When Ben finishes, Irene's body has turned into 2 lacrima crystal balls. One ball is dark red while the other one is bright red. Ben checks them and he is satisfied because he succeeds. He has done something he never did, separating a person's power and turning them into lacrima crystals.

"The dark red lacrima is Sage Dragon Slayer Lacrima. As for this bright red lacrima, it's Irene's magic as a human, her Enchantments."

Ben grins widely because his experiment succeeded. Normally, he could only turn a dead magical being like a dead Mage into a Lacrima, just like what he did to Zancrow. But now he separated Irene's power because she has her Enchantment Magic and Dragon Slayer Magic.

He stores the Enchantment lacrima and goes out while holding the Sage Dragon Lacrima. Erza is waiting outside the prison building with Makarov and immediately approaches Ben when he comes out. Ben suddenly throws the Sage Dragon Lacrima to Erza.

"A Sage Dragon Lacrima, her present for you."

"What?!"

Erza and Makarov are very surprised by it. Ben has just given a Dragon Lacrima to Erza, after all.

"Do you want me to be a Dragon Slayer?"

"That is up to you. I only gave it to you, but you can decide whether to use it or not."

Erza looks at the Sage Dragon Lacrima and has a complicated feeling about it. On one side, she knows that being a Dragon Slayer can increase her power because it has a lot of potentials and she doesn't lose her current magic. On the other hand, she feels like she doesn't deserve this magic because she didn't get it through her own hard work.

"Don't think too much about it. You need to take every chance you have to get stronger. Don't you want to protect our Guild? How will you protect it if you don't get stronger? Do you want to keep relying on me?"

"No! Absolutely not!"

Erza answers hastily because Ben read her thought there. She also thought that she doesn't really need to get stronger with Ben in their Guild. Almost everyone in the Guild feels like that right now, and it's not a good thing.

"Erza, even I can't do everything alone. There will be times when I can't be there. What if things happen when I'm not present?"

"... You're right, I'm sorry, it seems I get too comfortable with the current situation. I felt like everything will be fine with you in our guild. Sigh, alright, I will take this chance and also be our Guild's pillar."

Ben nods when he sees Erza's firm expression and then he goes inside the prison again. He grins mischievously when he gets inside because now things will get easier. Ben is sure Erza will get much stronger with Sage Dragon Slayer Magic, which means his job will get easier.

'Hehe, if they get stronger then I won't need to protect them anymore, so I can focus more on things I want to do.'

Well, that's not really a bad or naughty plan, but Ben makes it looks like he is planning something mischievous. He is just too tired of holding this continent and everything in it alone. So if others get much stronger too, then he won't need to hold that burden alone anymore.

Anyway, Ben meets with Ajeel's grandfather, Yajeel who has waited in a room. He tells Yajeel his plan to release Ajeel, Brandish, and Dimaria. After the 3 enter the room while still having their magic sealed, Ben tells them what he wants from the new Alvarez with them as its leaders.

The 4 of them are not happy with the terms and conditions that Ben made. But they know they can't do anything and everything he asks is still rational. Basically, they will keep supporting Ishgar for a long time, but their freedom won't be taken away.

"Last thing, I want Alvarez to maintain a good relationship with my family. Yajeel, I'm sure you know what my family does, right?"

"Yes, it's the best magic items manufacturer company in the whole of Ishgar. I have seen some of your work and I am very impressed. Even the Machias race said your pieces of machinery are the work of Gods."

Ben raised an eyebrow upon hearing Yajeel's exaggerated words. "You are really good with your tongue. Anyway, I want to work together with Alvarez to make research on magic technologies. That means you will be my allies, and I always protect my allies."

The 4 of them widen their eyes while Ben is grinning. They know Ben basically said he will protect Alvarez when it's in danger. Their Empire is in a vulnerable state right now, so Ben's protection will be very helpful.

"I understand, we will accept all your terms."

"Grandpa!"

Yajeel only looks at Ajeel for a while and the young guy shuts up immediately. Ajeel knows what his Grandfather thinks because he also thinks like that. But his pride is still too high to accept Ben's offer even in this kind of situation.

"We don't have any choice anyway. It's either do or die right now."

"Tch, I know. Fine, I'll accept."

Ben smiles and then makes a magic contract with the 4 of them. This will make sure they won't betray him. Well, they won't dare to betray him even without the contract. But Ben doesn't want to take any risk.

Brandish asks Ben about Invel, so Ben tells her that Invel Yura will be executed. Ben never tolerated Zeref's worshipper and Invel still worship that dead guy to this moment. Letting him live will only cause bad things to happen.

Ben also plans to make an operation to eradicate all remaining Zeref's worshippers. He knows Zeref's death won't stop them. Instead, they will do extreme things to revive their Lord, which will endanger the civilians.

After they finish the contract, Ben sends the 4 of them back to Alvarez using Magic Council's airship. Some Wizard Saints follow them, but Ben doesn't go. He only asks Jura to help them rebuild Vistarion and he will pay Jura with a great Earth Spell, an easy transaction.

After they leave, Ben returns to Magnolia with Makarov & Erza. He wants to spend time with his family for now. Then after a few days of an easy life with his children, Ben meets the woman who came from the past.
