Chapter 68

"What a vile magic!"

Erza's face turned solemn. Joseph's magic radiated an evil aura, reeking of death. Any ordinary wizard would feel nauseous just standing near it.

"Holy Ten?" Joseph narrowed his eyes at Knight's words. "Is that so? The Council must think highly of you."

Well, of course. They're not fools.

"But you don't have to rush," Joseph continued, his magic suddenly dissipating. He chuckled eerily. "Once I take care of Makarov and obliterate Fairy Tail, you can replace him in the Holy Ten."

Can you even beat him? Nate thought, waiting patiently. The old man might show up soon.

"Erza!"

The main force of Fairy Tail arrived, barreling in on several magic four-wheelers. The shout came from Gray.

A group quickly assembled behind Erza, glaring at Joseph with high spirits.

"Ho ho ho... all here, are we?" Joseph sneered, spreading his palms wide. "Scream all you want, little brats!"

Dark ghosts emerged from Joseph's palms, quickly multiplying into hundreds.

"I'll be waiting for you at the headquarters. Let's see who makes it to me," he said, his body turning transparent and disappearing in an instant, leaving behind the dark soldiers.

"What the hell is this? Such disgusting magic!" Gray muttered.

"They're ghost soldiers! Joseph's creation!" Thor chimed in from nearby. "Touch them, and your vitality will be drained."

"Step aside!" Nate roared, unleashing a shockwave with his fist that instantly swept through Thor, sending him flying hundreds of meters into the Phantom Guild headquarters.

"I'll handle Joseph," Knight said, taking flight toward the Phantom HQ.

"Knight! Wait!" Erza shouted, quickly transforming into her Sky Wheel armor and taking off after him.

Gray, meanwhile, dealt with a Phantom Soldier, only for it to regenerate.

"We need to take out Joseph to stop this magic!" Gray exclaimed. "Everyone, don't get stuck fighting these things. Follow me!"

The group charged forward, unleashing colorful magic at the ghost soldiers as they rushed into the Phantom's headquarters. Elfman smashed through a wall with his Black Bull arm, clearing a path.

When they breached the headquarters, they were met by a large group of Phantom wizards, led by a man with half-black, half-white hair.

"Greetings, fairies," the man smirked. "I'm Rabbit Maru, one of the Four Elements. Shall I ask you to die now?"

Erza soared over the Phantom HQ, trying to catch up to Knight. However, he had already vanished in a flash of golden light, instantly entering the rooftop.

She lost sight of him, only for a light drizzle to start falling.

On a nearby platform stood Juvia, holding a blue umbrella, her eyes fixed on Erza.

"Juvia…" Erza recognized her and immediately landed on the platform. "Have you seen Knight? Or your president?"

"Juvia is jealous!" Juvia shouted, glaring at Erza. "Juvia saw you riding a magic two-wheeler with Knight, and he was hugging your waist!"

"Huh?" Erza had a sinking feeling.

"Juvia also wants to be hugged!" she yelled, firing her Water Slicer magic at Erza in a fit of jealousy.

Erza sighed, deflecting the attack with her sword. "Wait, listen to me! This isn't the time to fight!"

"No! No excuses!"

Inside the highest room of the Phantom HQ, Joseph lounged comfortably on a bench. A massive magic crystal floated before him, displaying various battlefields. Every clash, from the two dragon slayers in the branch ruins to the Fairy Tail forces below, was under his watchful eye.

Suddenly, the door burst open. Knight stepped inside.

"You're here," Joseph said calmly, interlacing his fingers. "You came all this way, destroyed one of my branches, and unleashed powerful magic time and again. Surely, your magic must be running low by now, little brother Knight. What do you expect to accomplish like this?"

Knight glanced at his remaining magic power. Stretching out his hand, he let soft white light flow from his palm.

"It's true," Knight admitted. "I'm almost at my limit."

Joseph grinned, walking toward him. "Fairy Tail will soon be history, but you? You're different, Knight. You're a genius wizard. My offer still stands—join me."

Knight shook his head. "Thanks, but you've misunderstood something."

As he spoke, Knight's magic power rapidly surged, fully restoring itself in an instant.

"I can have as much magic as I want."

"What?!" Joseph's smile faltered, his eyes widening in disbelief. Just moments ago, Knight's magic had been nearly depleted. Now it was replenished? This was impossible.

"How... How did you do it?" Joseph asked, his voice low and dangerous.

Knight smiled. "I like to classify magic power into different levels. For example, this is what I'd call one-star magic."

The light in Knight's hand intensified, glowing brighter by the second.

"The punch I threw earlier took about a third of my energy. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to take you down."

Joseph's frown deepened. "What are you talking about?"

Knight continued. "Let me explain. This—this is two-star magic." The light in his hand grew even stronger, filling the room.

"Three stars."

The flow of magic power became visible, a strong gust sweeping through the room. Joseph squinted, realizing the immense power gathering in Knight's hand—equivalent to one of his own Four Elements.

"And finally, four stars."

All the white light condensed into Knight's palm, turning into a radiant, compressed sphere.

"I've named this move…"

Knight raised his glowing hand, aiming directly at Joseph.

"... Amazing."

Boom!

A massive beam of light erupted from Knight's palm, enveloping Joseph in an instant. It blasted through the building, shooting up into the sky and stretching for miles.

Meanwhile, Makarov, who had just arrived in Ogu City, looked up in shock. In the darkened sky, the beam of white light pierced through the clouds, creating cracks that spanned the heavens.

"This magic power... It's Knight!" Makarov muttered in awe.
