Chapter 49: Levy's POV

Chapter 49: Levy's POV

~Levy POV~

[July 24, X784]

Alright, I'll be the first to admit it was a bit surprising to have someone ask me to tutor them in learning about deciphering codes from one of my Guildmates.

One that happened to be rumored to go about dating Erza to which he explained how they went about knowing each other a bit better to what he would describe training I would say torture.

But hey to each their own right?

Although when Silva asked me to help him out in learning about Runes made me quite happy and possibly add a new book reader friend like Lucy into my friend group.

I heard the two are on good terms coming from her. Although a bit of an instigator but not all too troubling personality knowing the guy.

He just knows what he wants to do and hearing his aim to reach S-Class despite merely joining he is certainly an optimist plus I wouldn't say I would be interested in the guy.

I heard from Lulu about the whole changeling event much to her horror becoming Gray feeling the chills of the Ice Wizard. Poor girl…

But it was damn funny to hear though from the rest of the guild especially what happened to Erza becoming Happy and Silva becoming Erza.

Must be pretty weird to have their gender-swapped like that. Gray and Lucy are getting past their trauma for that brief moment recovering but what I hear Makarov definitely enjoyed punishing Natsu 4 times.

Damn…

I would feel sorry for the guy if it wasn't for the fact the issues of the bodies being swapped were caused by him. But I did hear he didn't get expelled so that accounts for something right?

But returning to my situation walking to Silva's apartment it was to study from there when Droy and Jet were clearly displeased by the fact to which I humbly told them I would study with Silva at his home.

Albeit I did say it in the heat of the moment but just because they are jealous doesn't mean they could say who I should go with and interfere.

We may be childhood friends but I do have standards of choosing what I want in my life. Saying that made them despair as I huffed at that.

Although I couldn't tutor him yesterday as I was busy finishing up a deciphering Job, I said what time would be best to come and tutor to which we agreed on a specific time tomorrow.

Besides it's merely helping one of our guild members out and not like a date…

Or this could be one but then again not.

And besides that, he seems like an interesting guy to get to know at least. Although I do want to understand how he considers training with Erza doesn't count as torture and isn't traumatized by the ordeal.

As I get closer to his apartment building, I went inside going up the stairs and finding the apartment room he was located in I knocked trying to get a response from the newbie, "Hey Silva it's me Levy! I came just like you requested!"

*Knock*

*Shiii*

*Knock*

Knocking the door a few times I saw a flash of purple light appear underneath the openings under his door as it soon opened to reveal Ur and Gray.

When I was at the door Gray quickly apologized to me as Ur was behind them speaking, "Oh? Sorry didn't see you, Levy."

I quickly asked him and Ur along with being curious why they were inside Silva's apartment room in a curious tone, "No problem. Sorry for being in the way but why are you two inside his apartment room?"

To that, Ur replied with a smile on her face changing into her clothes instead of her underwear outfit in an impressed tone, "We just came back from Mt. Hakobe training Silva in Ice-Make Magic. Have to hand it though having a spatial teleporting Magic does come in quite handy."

Teleporting Magic?

I tilted my head at that as the two ice mages leave the room with Silva getting my attention apologizing about them, "Sorry Levy. The training with the two took longer than expected before the appointed time. Please come in."

Gesturing inside his apartment room I entered inside with the books from the Guild Library containing about deciphering Runes and codes needed along with a few glyphs here and there in the process.

Seeing the table I began to place them on the table as I gestured for Silva to come forward, to begin with, magical runes first, "Alright then mister let's begin with the basics of Runes first before we even get started on decoding and deciphering Rune Arrays. Ready to begin."

He merely smiled along with a nod responding with excitement in the tone of his voice, "Yes, Levy-sensei! Hai!"

Levy-sensei?

That's a new one but I don't think I mind it much.

/////

His certainly something alright.

We've been going over the few basic courses of Runes of how the theories and magical equations needed to formulate them to cause an effect. And so far, his getting it pretty fast understanding.

I've seen people work fast reading and deciphering runes along with codes but only under 3 or 2 hours though.

He must be pretty talented in this sort of thing. So much so that I highly doubt he will need me for long the pace his going is quite astounding.

Here I thought he was muscle for brains or another lost attraction to me like Jet and Droy which is why I'm somewhat partially guilty for assuming so.

Even had Mira tell him I wasn't busy at times while in reality, I was in the library because he requested me a majority of times to understand the guild.

I quickly assumed it was going to be another Jet and Droy situation having another person added to my group which I don't mind but I prefer my space thank you very much it's just…

Well…

I don't quite have the heart to be rude. I'm just somewhat too kind at times for my own good to realize.

Now seeing he was just merely asking to learn this I'm relieved that's all I have to worry about not gaining another Jet and Droy with how much his learning from me at this rate.

Before I could continue with my own thoughts I was then interrupted by Silva as I listened to what he said showing the paper of the completed deciphering I created, "Does this looks to be right? I was wondering if the runes in this array were a mislead or if the actual effects when placed like these would work on the principle of motion. Is the magic circle with the rune arrays right or I'm lacking something?"

Going over the paper I created of how one would decipher or motion control runes on the Rune Array by placing some Runes I took a one over with a smile on my face, "Nope you got it right. Placing that specific rune there would dispel the effects it had. A little change here and you got a decent rune array to work with here. You seem to be picking this up at a rapid rate learning Silva."

He nodded with a bashful smile on his face thanking me for helping him out in a kind tone and giving me some praise, "Well I have a good sensei to show me the ropes. I just hope this is enough for me to decipher the book I got from the Galuna Island temple before it got destroyed in the fight."

My eyes raise slightly getting interested as I couldn't help but question it piquing my interest on the topic, "Oh? This is news to me about you recovering some books. I don't think Lulu mentioned it before?"

When I mentioned Lulu, he looked confused for a bit before his eyes realized instantly making me surprised at who he mentioned, "Lulu…? Oh! You mean Lucy, right? I always figured you both would get along."

I raised an eyebrow at that as he took out the book further explaining what he meant by that in a calm tone, "By that, I mean the two of you are fellow book lovers. Figured you two would click well with Lucy writing her own story given the hints. By the way, this was the book I meant from what I got at the temple, but it's encrypted with Runes foreign to me. I was wondering if you would take a crack at it."

Handing me the book I took a look at the cover named Mana Method Manual with an interest not familiar with the term before opening up the contents and trying to decode the contents of the book inside.

My eyes widen just what?

I mean how or why?

I don't mean to shame myself but I personally know lots about ciphering and runes enough to create some dispelling runes but this whole entire Rune Arrays just thrown me over a loop of not understanding the contents within.

The language here is completely foreign to me and that's saying something.

However, it seems like Silva made a point to notice with an evident frown on his face making me catch myself listening to his next words, "Oh. It seems like your stump on this as well. I had a friend of mine try to search for the patterns of the Rune Arrays while you were away. She had the same expression of confusion on her face not knowing the contents. Looks like you don't know the text within the Rune Arrays as well."

Oh, I did not hear that coming from him!

I'm an expert on this sort of stuff but I won't take his words lying down!

Historical or unknown languages are my thing and my expertise!

I won't let my own pride in that lying down like this!

Snatching the book away from me he sighed as he asked me the question with a bemused glint in his eyes speaking, "Sigh… what a shame. If this is too much Levy for you to figure out, I can wait for my friend to decipher the contents within… unless you want to take a crack at it. Of course, I don't want you to waste your free time on this?"

I felt my left eye twitched at that remark.

Lucy is right.

That guy really likes to instigate people.

Helpful but his personality is something to be questioned.

Pouting at this no way I was taking this lying down as I defiantly replied to him with my personal pride on the matter of my skills being called into question, "Well then mister you better hope to get used to me coming around then! I'll help you decipher the contents of the Mana Method Manual at the same time on the dot!"

Before I could register what I said he immediately agreed to spot making me pause as he stands up to cook something since a lot of time has passed, "Wonderful! In that case, I have just the timetable schedule in mind but oh! Seems like we passed a lot of time studying here let me cook something up if you want to continue or leave for the day with the sun setting."

I…

What just happened?

Blinking a bit I soon realized what he just pulled on me as I slap my face for falling for this guy's tricks when he poked my love of knowledge into question.

I merely saw him turn around as he began to cook some things in his kitchen leaving me to wonder…

What the heck did I just agree too?

Oh, this Silva is a very bad man.

Very, very bad man indeed.

He's a crafty one this newbie is but I'll simply deny the dinner –

*Grumble*

*Grrr*

I mean one free meal can't hurt that bad right?

At the very least I'll act like I didn't enjoy the food not giving him the satisfaction!

Hmph!!

...

But why does his food smell really good...

After a while, I finally took a bite of his food as my taste pallet exploded with the flavors of his dishes!

Each one was unique yet original and fresh with each tasting better than the next it was unbelievable!!

Ok so maybe this might be worth it after all if he cooks like this helping him out. But I won't like it one bit!

Nope!

I won't give him the satisfaction!

...

*Gulp*
