I look down at the ground, starting to feel my blood boil in my veins and my head nearly getting hot. "You don't have to do that. You don't. I don't want you to. There's nothing standing between us anymore. There never was. It was our stupidity and inexperience with another person that made this situation so complex. It's not like we can give each other space or stay friends because I know for a fact that we will always end up together eventually. But-"
Aiden raised his brows. "But?"
"Those were my thoughts before I learnt the truth." I said, turning my gaze away from him. I can't be with him. Not after what he told me, my mother or not, my family was the cause of his pain. How can I be happy with him? That's selfish and I am not selfish. I loved him but it's also enough to to let him go.
"What are you saying, Athena?" He said, his voice crooked.
"We can't be together."
