Reality Glitch

[Spencer POV]

Dust floating around was the first thing I noticed.

For a war to be supposed to be on the highest point, it was too quiet. The gunshots and the roars of the beasts could still be heard, but not on the same level as previous battles.

I was at earth level next to Rose, who seemed to have found what I came looking for. Stan was on the floor sweating and moaning in pain. The reality was rejecting him

The power of everyone around came back, and the sounds of a real battle came back.

The world around me changed, auras appeared on the living beings. Numbers, symbol and flooded into my sight, I couldn't process all of it on my own, but Rose was with me now.

It seems as if she was taken by surprise when the information started to appear on her eyes, she turned around and looked at me.

"Tell me what is going on with the bees and the battle I will focus on…"

Headache… did I overdo with Visualization?... It's a lot of data after all…

I took a deep breath and shook my head as if it could help… what I was supposed to do?

I looked around once again… in a specific area near what used to be the honeycomb, the numbers didn't make sense, as I was focused on them they kept changing I haven't seen anything like it before.

Until now, the variables were what changed, but now as if laws themselves weren't sure what form to take and kept changing. The way it looked with visualization and aura's view was as if the reality was bugged in that area and trying to make sense of itself.

Rose was gazing intently at the same place I was looking, she seemed lost for some reason.

She opened her mouth to say something.

"Where did he go?"

What is she talking about?

"Who?"

"Stan was there, he is the reason for this glitch!! He did something for the explosion to be more effective."

Stan?

The name felt familiar, but at the same time, nothing came to my mind… what's going on? The sound of the battle intensified which remind me that something else was happening behind us.

The bees lifeless bodies fell from the sky, but that wasn't the end of the battle. The beasts turned crazy and started to attack humans. The rats where about do the same but a giant web-like thread expanded from a white rat and very rat they touched.

"I have no idea, but we can't worry about that now, the beasts are out of control."

Rose looked back and saw the beasts attacking the human side, which after the first strike managed to survive. The rats came to their aid and engaged with the creatures relieving some of the pressure on the human side.

I took Rose hand and blinked to the human group. After what happened, I needed to know what was going on with the beasts and the best shot was… asking Pinky, who just seemed to restore his control over the rats.

"Pinky talk to me, what going on!!"

'Great hero! This humble servant isn't sure, I blacked out for a second, and when I came into my senses, the connection with my servants has to be redone. I think a powerful warlock is messing with our minds.'

I ignored his theory and focus on the first part. On my mind, Rose voice was clear.

'I think that the glitch interfered with the powers in the area, once the powers came back the bees who lost their queen and were originally a part of the Hive couldn't continue living without her since the rat king is still here the connection was just restarted, and that was the web we saw.'

'Why the beasts lost control? And where is Blackie did he betrayed us?'

'His ability is different, he uses something more like mind control so the glitch must have erased the connection. He probably needs to restore the connection one by one, but he is at the barn coordinating the attack.'

We need to go back to the barn and trust that Blackie can restore the connection with his lackeys.

'Pinky are you in contact with Blackie?'

'Yes Milord, he says that he lost the contact with his faction, he just recovered control of the barn and is coming to our aid…'

I ended coming here anyway. Now that I'm here, should I help or not? I couldn't help but notice that the humans were handling themselves just fine now that they have the rat's support. Was I needed here?

Pinky would be in contact with them if I didn't come back so they would have the same information, would they trust Blackie and go with him?

That was the only doubt I had, after what seemed to be a betrayal would they manage to trust him again?

I could see what happened with visualization, but they couldn't. I felt a piercing gaze from the side, and my eyes met with Blake's. I didn't need to read his mind… he didn't want me to interfere yet.

I nodded in understanding and blinked away again to the place where the glitch originated. I needed to understand what just happened in this place.

A couple of beasts came for this time, a spear appeared on my hands. A goat jumped on me, I did a twist to avoid it and hit the head using the bottom of the shaft. As I finished the turn, I used the spearhead to impale sheep that was coming.

I didn't need to use any power to dodge and eliminate the incoming attack. For someone looking from far away, it was as if I just spiraled out of control and ended with a few dead beasts around me.

I couldn't help but remember Rose's words… 'Where did he go?'

I felt as if I should know who is she talking about, but I couldn't remember… and that made me more eager for answers.

Will psychometry give me the answers I'm looking for?

I looked around one more time to be sure that no more beasts were coming for me, as expected the humans were in full retreat in the direction of the barn and that drove the beasts away with them.

I touched the floor and saw the whole process.

The bees moving around, the drones dying last night and the bees patrolling… nothing out of the ordinary until a rat carrying a package ran past them. This was a critical moment.

Most of the bees were on their way to stop the beast attack, which gave the small rats time to get inside.

Outside, a fight was going on…

But suddenly a human shadow appeared. But something happened.

It was like a corrupt file. As if a recording was damaged. The data didn't make sense, it was chaos. Nothing could be known from this information, but I could remember that shadow…

I felt as if he should recognize the figure.

Rose called him Stan, who is he? Did we know each other?

And if he was here why I can't remember.

This was the first time that Psychometry failed and there has to be an important reason for that. I tried to make a timeline of the events trying to make some sense of what I knew.

First, I was working to stop the vortex… I was in my break between trials, and I felt something was being rejected by reality.

No something happened before that, there was a disturbance in the laws of the material world, the rejection came, and after that, I appeared here next to Rose.

Most people and beast had lost their powers, I didn't try mine and the one I used to get there wasn't from this realm, it came from the Astral realm, so I wasn't sure if I also regained my power or I never lost them.

Rose was looking at something, I could feel the moment that everything went back to normal. When I used visualization, something wasn't right. The event was supposed to be finished, but the place Rose was looking at was weird.

That shadow did he do something to be rejected and the glitch was an aftereffect of his power? Or the world rejection created a glitch to eliminate him?

I couldn't be sure of the origin of the glitch or what really happened.

But from the little information I had, I was sure that the world had just deleted someone's existence.
