" Cyrus, how could you just vanish when you knew the assassin was still out there!!" I yelled the minute we saw each other
" I just want to be alone," she said avoiding my gaze
" Cyrus are you trying to make us enemies," I said sitting beside her while Liam stands guard
" I don't want that…but I needed time to think"
" Think about what " I exclaimed
" You only lost a contract but you make it seem like someone died or worst…do you know how many times I lost clients when I became new in the lawsuit," I said she nods negatively
" You made it sound like it was all Olivia's fault," Liam said from beside us
" I didn't mean to make it sound that way" Cyrus claimed
" your mom said that directly to Olivia" Liam added
" Liam stop telling her all that …you are making matters worse," I said to Liam who nods
"Am sorry Olivia but Liam is right…at first I blamed you totally for everything and got angry at you but now I know I was wrong, this can happen to anyone and you were there for me so why would I blame you?" she said tearing up…I pull her in for a passionate hug stroking her back
" We are best friends…why would I ever want anything bad to happen to you, you have to always trust me at all times no matter what we are here for each other," I said caressing her cheeks
" I am sorry Olivia…I won't give up, I would continue trying until I get another client " she said
" I think we should head back to the villa it's getting very late," Liam said ruining the moment for both of us…he should have at least waited a few minutes
" Liam" Cyrus whined hitting him on the chest before walking ahead of us
" You ruined the happy moment" I added following Cyrus to the car I could hear Liam whining behind us
" So did you find anything concerning this assassin," Cyrus asked the minute we got into the house
" Not yet but Liam said the assassin is working alone, no one sent him," I said showing her the file of all the information we have gotten so far
" I hate this assassin, why can't he just let us be and stop making our lives a living hell," Cyrus said biting her lips in anger…I know she regrets being my friend and this stage and wished she never stayed by my side when it first started
" I hate him more than anyone in this world," I said
" Stop worrying about him for now you two should just take care of yourselves," Liam said before heading to his room
" He is being too professional" Cyrus whispered….I am just happy Cyrus is back to normal after my dad she's all I have got
" Yes…. everywhere we went ladies were just flirting with him, I got jealous because of that" I whispered to her
" Am Starving I haven't eaten anything, all day," Cyrus said heading to the kitchen as I followed behind…I also haven't eaten anything due to the things happening
" You have to give her this contract sir…please, you and I know how much she worked to get that client you can't just deprive her of her hard work" I pleaded with the manager of Cyrus firm…I had to go there the next day because I could do anything for Cyrus' happiness
" Are you trying to use your father's rank to give Cyrus an easy way out?" the manager said
" Am not using my dad's rank to get anything ..am just begging you as anyone would
" Are you sure..why can't Cyrus come here herself, why must you help her why did she join the law firm if she wanted an easy way out of everything, why didn't she just choose another course you once trained under me and I gave you the same hard time why didn't you quit and run away like what she's trying to do" no matter how I try the manager won't ever understand
" I totally understand you sir but just give her this contract…you know she was so happy about the contract but then you took it away from her"
" I took it away from her because she wasn't qualified and I wasn't aware it was given to her in the first place" So this means ….it wasn't because of my dad's case that Cyrus lost the contract, then why she blaming me at first I need to make her understand everything
" Thank you, sir. I would be leaving now"
" Olivia wait…how's your father doing, I heard his life is being threatened by a notorious assassin and he has made attempts"
" He is fine and we also trying our best to find the assassin" I replied
" Why don't you pay him off so he can leave your family alone after all, your dad is very rich and so are you…you both lack nothing just pay him"
" I wished it could be that easy, but he clearly said he doesn't want money just our lives which he won't get no matter what he does," I said
" What kind of assassin is that..who doesn't accept payment, don't worry Olivia I would help you find a way out of all this just send my regards to your father," he said I nod positively before leaving
" Did he agree to give her another contract?" Liam asked escorting me back to the car
" No…he said she wasn't qualified enough" I replied
" Thank God he didn't," Liam said
" What do you mean thank God….don't you want my friend to be happy"
" I want her to be happy but stop making everything easy for her, why are trying to create a shortcut for her when upon your father's wealth you never got any" Liam said
" Am I a bad person for wanting something good for my best friend?" I asked
" That's not what I meant but what I want you to understand is if you keep creating shortcuts for her she won't ever learn to do things on her own" Liam is right…Cyrus always depends on me for everything and I know that's also the main reason why she follows me around and was even ready to follow me to another country, Because I would do everything for her
" I hope you now understand what I have been trying to explain" he added
" But if I ignore all I want that also makes me a bad friend and I don't want that," I said
" Are you scared that Cyrus leaving you, why don't you explore and make more friends and stop being scared of losing the only friend you have got?" he said
"Am not scared I have just come to be so fond of her or should I say I love her too much to want anything wrong to happen to her" I said remembering her words of accusations yesterday and how her mom called me a selfish person …Liam is right I need to reduce my care for her
" Just think about it, " Liam said
" We have been sitting in the car since you haven't told me where you wish to go "
" Liam and you couldn't even ask "
" How could I when you were being emotional about your friend," Liam said starting the engine
" My office please," I said to Liam who nods and drives off
" Olivia!!" My coworker said rushing into my office
" What's wrong" I panicked
"Cyrus' manager in her firm is dead with a note that has your name on it" ohh no…the executioner followed me there and killed him as
a threat
" The police are coming here now" she added
Why is he mentioning my name, is he after me or my father?
