Chapter 8 Departure

A week soon came and went. 'Haha, after this Banquet, I'll be indomitable within this shitty kingdom.' Long Lei thought as he smirked, finishing what he was drawing.

"Young Master, its time to get dressed." A maid said, as she knocked on the door. "Okay." Long Lei replied, as he hurriedly dispersed his clones. He then went to open the door, and found the maid with a set of robes.

"Would you like me to dress you, or would you rather dress yourself?" The maid inquired, as Long Lei shook his head. "I rather dress myself." He responded coldly, while grabbing the robes.

"As you wish." The maid said respectfully before handing him the robes, and respectfully retreating as she shut the door. Long Lei then dressed himself, before hiding the sheets of paper.

'This is going to be great.' He mused as he finished dressing. Long Lei was fitted, in dark blue robes, lined with gold. Specifically on the back of the robe, a dragon soaring through the heaven's was sewed in golden thread.

"These robes, they'll do for now." Long Lei snickered, before opening the door and then heading out of the house. As he walked through the halls of his house, no servants were insight. 'Odd.' He thought as he reached the outside of his house.

Immediately the sight shocked him, all the 100 maids and servants stood as they bowed towards his mother and father. They were lined in such a way, that a direct path was made from the door to the serpent upon which his mother and father were seated.

"May your journey be fruitful, Young Master!" They said with utmost respect, hearing this Long Lei simply nodded. "Don't mess with my room while I am gone." He simply replied in typical fashion as he walked towards his parents.

Seeing their son, they had varying reactions. His mother's face was cold and unmoved, while his father's face was one of slight embarrassment. 'I may be the Sect Leader, but why does he have to be so cold.' Long Tian contemplated.

Soon after Long Lei reached the serpent. It was about 100 meters long and an extremely dark shade of blue. It eyes were jade-like and unfeeling, and its tongue was stretched out as if trying to say hello.

Before Long Lei could interact with the serpent though, his mother pulled him up and sat him on her lap. "We'll be off then, protect the estate while we're gone." Long Tian commanded before he motioned for the snake to start moving.

"Yes, Sect Leader!" They said with fervor, as the snake quickly unraveled and shot through the air. It was so fast, a regular human couldn't even make out the movement.

In a few seconds, the family of 3 were far away from their estate. "Slow down a bit, Yun." Long Tian said as he patted the snake lightly. It then slowed down as it flew through the sky.

'What the fuck?' Long Lei thought as he gazed at the snake. Currently, it was slithering through the sky as its body seemingly glided on lightning. "Oh, Lei'er you've never ridden Yun have you?" His mother said, as she patted her son's head.

"I haven't in fact." He replied, with a monotonous expression. Hiding the sheer surprise he held within him. "Then why aren't you surprised at what he can do?" She said as she looked at her son oddly.

"I am surprised, can't you tell?" Long Lei responded as he looked his mother in the eye. 'He's such a handful.' She thought, with some sadness, as Long Tian suddenly cut in.

"Yun is a Tier 2 Demonic Beast, having awakened his Spiritual Wisdom, and being able to collect qi. Due to him being from the Sky Soaring Lightning Serpent bloodline, which is descended from a dragon, he has the ability to glide on lightning through the sky as his species suggests. He's a very rare breed, so much so, he has the potential to become a Tier 3 Demonic Beast." Long Tian concisely explained.

Over the few years he knew his son, Long Tian had grown to understand him, and knew better how to reply to him. Whereas his mother was more focused on making sure he was growing up well, and loving him in general.

"So how far are we from the capital?" Long Lei inquired as he gazed at the sky ahead of them. "I'd say about, 1000 kilometres, don't worry though, with Yun's speed within an hour we'll arrive." Long Tian answered.

Long Lei, was a bit surprised hearing this. 'Just Tier 2 and already nearing Mach 1? Quite impressive.' He thought, before noticing the small villages dotted underneath them.

"Curious about the kingdom?" His mother asked him. "Yes, could you explain to me how its set up?" Long Lei answered, hearing this she happily nodded.

"Basically, the kingdom is split between 9 Counties, each with a County Lord. Of the 9 Counties, 3 are directly linked to the kingdom, 3 are tied with our Heaven Breaking Sect, while 3 are tied with the Endless Hell Sect." She explained clearly.

"Then aren't we equal to the Royal family?" Long Lei asked, as his face dawned an innocent expression. "Well, not exactly, see everything is still tied to them at the end of the day, but normally they tend to stay neutral, so we have no problems with them." His mother answered, as her words and tone denoted another meaning.

"Anyway enough about that, why don't we discuss what Demonic Beast you'll get when you grow up Lei'er?" Long Tian said, as he tried to redirect the conversation.

Seeing this Long Lei grew a bit suspicious. 'I guess the Endless Hell Sect is trying to get the Kingdom on their side, at that point the Heaven Breaking Sect will be suppressed till they can wipe us out easily. Too bad for them, I am here.' Long Lei theorized maniacally, on the outside though, he kept his composure.

"Eh, I don't know what Demonic Beast I get, as long as its cool I don't mind though." Long Lei said as he tried to sound as innocent and childlike as possible. His parent were quite pleased hearing this.

'Finally he acts like a slightly regular 3 year old.' His father thought as he smiled slightly. He saw Long Lei as a genius, and admired his son in certain ways, but sometimes he wished he'd just be a regular child.

Soon time flew by, and they arrived at the capital. It was a massive city, and within the center of it all, a gigantic Palace stood. This was the Flowing River Kingdom's Royal Palace, and the location of the Banquet.
