Chapter 10

Everything was just as it always was with Carlos and yet something felt different. I didn’t tingle at the way his fingers brushed my buttocks. His kisses didn’t make my stomach flutter. The way his tongue dipped into my mouth made me feel sick.

By the time we made it into the penthouse suite I was close to losing my mind.

“I believe this is yours,” Carlos pulled an envelope from his breast pocket just as Mathew had the night before.

I hesitated only a moment before taking hold of it. “Thank you.”

“I’ll slip into the shower and then we can get started?” he suggested.

“Sure,” I nodded, struggling to breathe against the lump in my throat.
