{Irina's POV:}
It happened not long after Yu left, I waited as he told me to, but I eventually got bored. So I decided to go look for him but ended up finding nothing. Wondering what happened I used a special tracking method papa taught me.
While I may not be able to show it whenever I am around Yu I am smarter than other kids my age and an exorcist in training! On the days off that I don't go to Yu's house my mama and papa are training me to be an exorcist so when it comes to simple tracking I'm fairly confident I can find Yu if I tried.
"Hm? Why is he going into the forest?" I wondered as I followed Yu's tracks into the forest.
Enduring the cold, I walked into the forest while calling out to Yu but got no reply. Eventually, I had lost Yu's tracks and still couldn't find him.
"Moo~ where is he~?" I complained as I sat down on a nearby log
"Who are you looking for little lady,"
"Huh?"
Turning around I saw a strange middle-aged man. He looked injured with blood covering his left arm, and multiple cuts all around his clothes. Even when I looked at his face I saw that he was looking down at me with an eerie smile.
*Swoosh*
Not waiting for me to reply he aimed for my neck faster than I could react and all I could do was scream at the top of my lungs
----
"KYAAAA!!!"
"Irina are you okay calm down!"
Flailing my arms around when I heard someone call out to me I was paranoid, it wasn't until I felt something warm wrap around my body did I begin to calm down. Focusing my sights on my surroundings I saw that I wasn't inside the woods anymore and instead was inside someone's living room. Looking at it closer I noticed that I was in Yu's house and that I currently in Yu's arms.
"What happened," I asked both confused and scared while my body was shaking
"When I came back you had fallen asleep," Yu said while patting my head, "I tried waking you up but you wouldn't budge. If you stayed there you might have caught a cold so I carried you back to my place."
"Thanks…" I said as my body began to calm down from Yu's touch
"It's fine," He said releasing me from his arms then sitting down next to me on the couch, "Though it wasn't easy bringing you back here you know. You're around my size so carrying you here took a lot of work."
"Are you calling me heavy," I glared while releasing a little mana pressure unconsciously
"Nope," He said not affected by the pressure at all and instead poked my forehead, "But you seemed a little out of it right now. I just wanted to see if you're still the Irina I know. Plus if I may add bringing you here took me no effort at all"
Realizing I've been tricked I ignored Yu's last sentence and instead reached out for the cup of juice on the table since my throat was dry from screaming so loud.
"Irina"
"What?"
"That's my juice."
"…"

{Yu's POV}
After Irina woke up I planned to take her home, but because of my little joke, she got mad at me and 'forced' me to carry her back to her place. Since it wasn't a difficult task to complete I princess carried her to her place and then made my way home after apologizing to her parents for bringing Irina back so late.
Mrs. Shidou was okay with it but Mr. Shidou kept giving me a death stare. He's always been like that so I got used to him looking at me like that. How I angered him I don't know but I was never in the mood to ask so I never got an answer.
After saying goodbye to the Shidous I walked back home in silence. On the outside, I looked as calm as can be but on the inside, I was trying to remember what happened just a while ago. The moment I saw Irina unconscious with her neck in the guy's hands anger and a lot of other emotions exploded in my head. As for what happened afterward I can't remember a thing, what I did know though was that I brutally murdered that guy.
When I came to the system told me that only a minute had passed since I lost control of my senses but in that time frame my surroundings had taken a drastic change. Craters littered the ground, trees were uprooted, and whatever was left of that devil was splattered on the ground. I had crushed all of his limbs into paste leaving only his head and chest in a state where they were barely recognizable.
As for Irina, she was cradled in my arms when I woke up, it seemed that she fainted out of fear. Not even letting myself understand what happened I knew it wouldn't be a good idea to stay here so I used spatial magic to destroy the scene of the crime completely while I ran back to the festival with Irina in [stealth] grabbed our stuff and then ran back to my house.
From there I just waited for Irina to walk up, in that time I got rid of my dirty clothes by storing them in my [Inventory] and changed into new ones. After that, I noticed that I weirdly no longer felt much when remembered that I just killed someone. Instead, I just felt a little tired but there was no guilt or regret. Consulting the system on this it revealed to me that my recent change in mentality was due to the new skill I got:
/////////////////////
[Demon's Gateway - Limit Break Skill]
Passive Effect: Absorbs part of the user's negative emotions and stores them for future use
Active Effect: Uses the user's negative emotions to strengthen the user's physical capabilities while also forcing the user into a berserk state
/////////////////////
This skill looks useful and it is but it can also be a double-edged sword too. If I let it absorb too much of my negative emotions than the duration of my berserk state is extended. At that time I could cause more damage to the people around me without me even being aware of it.
"I suddenly feel less human," I said once I read the effects of this skill, "...For now, I'll have to work on tempering my mentality for times when [Mind of Tranquility] can't be used."
----
A few months had passed since the winter festival and before I knew it Irina, Issei, and I had already graduated from our second year and were preparing to move on to our third year of primary school. Life was peaceful, I continued my dungeon grind whenever I could spend time with my family during the day and, I even hang out at Irina's house every once and awhile.
Today just happened to be one of those days where I was visiting Irina's house. Due to the weather not being so great both of us just stayed inside and watched some movies her parents rented from the movie rental place. During the movie, Irina's dad called her over and I was left alone.
"The entertainment of this word isn't that great," I commented as I watched the movie
I'm not saying the entertainment industry of this world was bad, it was just that the type of shows and movies I had in my previous life were way better than the shows and movies in this world. They didn't even have Marvel, DC, or any other famous comic book or manga franchise I was used to. Sure there may have been some exceptions but I went through those already long ago.
"Maybe I can be this universe's Stan Lee?" I thought before shaking my head, "...Nah I don't even remember much of the comic book chapters so it might not work."
*SLAM!!"
"Hm?"
Opening my eyes I turned towards the door and was meet with Irina who jumped into my arms and started crying.
"Irina," I called out her name while patting her head, "Can you tell me what's wrong?"
"I-i-it's my family," She replied, trying to hold back her tears
"Irina talk to me," I said with a calm tone, "You know I'm here for you, but I can't help you if you don't tell me what's wrong."
"It's my father he said we're moving out of Japan," She said before crying once more, "b-but I don't want to leave!!!"
"...Where will you be moving?" I asked already knowing what was going to happen next
"...Europe"
"That's far…"
"...En"
"...Is there no changing it?"
"...En…"
Releasing a depressed sigh I grabbed Irina by her shoulder and slowly pulled her away from my body until I was looking straight in her eyes.
"Listen, Irina...there's nothing we can do," I said, stating the truth, "We're just kids and we can't change the minds of adults."
"...I know…" She said while lowering her head, "But what about Y-"
"I'll be fine," I said cutting her off, "It's not like we'll never see each other again, come on you're a smart girl you should know this...You know what? Here take this."
Stopping for a moment I reached for my neck and pulled out a black chain necklace with a small amulet the size of a five hundred yen coin. Taking the necklace off my neck I moved quickly and put it on Irina's neck.
My actions surprised Irina since while the necklace looked plain from afar when looked up close you could see the exquisite artisanship engraved on the chain and amulet. Not only did it look like it was made out of high-class metals it also had some engravings on the chain while on the amulet was the symbol of the Scout Regime from the anime Attack on Titan. Originally that symbol wasn't there but I engraved it there one day while I was bored and it surprisingly came out extremely well.
"Irina," I said take her attention off the necklace and back to me, "This is my favorite necklace, and it's something I expect to get back one day. So, for now, hold on to it for me and return it once you come back to Japan. Can you do that for me?"
She looked at my face than at the necklace before looking back at me with a smile and a nod. That night I spent the night in the Shidou residence due to Irina's invitation (begging), originally I didn't expect anything to happen but in the middle of the night Irina snuck into my bed and clung to my arm until morning when she left while I was "asleep".
For the next eight days after that night, Mr. and Mrs. Shidou spent most of the time packing up their belongings while I kept Irina company as the process went on. Then on the ninth day of the move-out, their house was empty and Irina was about to leave for the airport. Finishing my goodbyes to Irina and her parents I was going to leave but before I could Irina called out to me.
When I turn to look at her what I was met with was a quick kiss on the lips and a blushing Irina.
"Goodbye...I'll miss you…"
That was the last thing she said before running back to join her parents. All I could do was stand their dazed while absentmindedly waving at Irina as she left in her parent's car.
----Some Days Later----
"Urgh~...Life has gotten boring…" I complained in my mind while lying down face first on my living room couch
Ever since Irina left I've been in a slump and everyone in my family has noticed. Usually, Dad would try to cheer me up but he's currently on a business trip down in the southern provinces so he's not here. The people who were here though were Mom and Issei. Mom was trying to cook up my favorite food, while Issei was trying to lighten my mood by dancing funny on the couch. I already told him to stop but he didn't listen and continued to dance. Then while I was about to take a nap, I heard a loud thump. When I got up to see what happened I saw that Issei had fallen and cut his arm on the edge of our coffee table.
Calling Mom I crouched down to get a better look at the injury. From what I saw minus the moderately large gash wound on his forearm, Issei had also fractured his wrist. Seeing this my Mom tried to clean up Issei's wound before taking him to the hospital to make sure to get Issei better treatment. I was fine so all I told Mom was that I would take care of the house while she was gone. Taking a moment to think eventually Mom agreed to leave me at the house but not before giving me some tasks to do while she was away.
Once I was alone, I finished the tasks Mom told me to do before once again lying down on the couch. What I didn't expect, however, was that the system which had been silent these past few days had suddenly become active.
