Chapter 5

"Here is your order sir." Wen said as he placed the food on a table.

After putting the food he went back to get more food. He had managed to get the job of a waiter in the newly opened restaurant and he was able to work her to almost two weeks now which made him happy.

After that day's shift had ended he was called to the owners office so he naturally went there. But the words that came out of the owners mouth surprised him.

"B-But sir! You can't just fire me like this. I've been working here honestly ever since the restaurant opened." Wen said to the owner with a shocked face.

"Unfortunately Wen, someone has given me funds to help the growth of my restaurant. The only demand was that you were to be fired. It was an easy choice." The owner said with a smile.

"W-What?" Wen said shocked at the man's words.

'Again! Is Lin behind this as well!?' Wen thought to himself in shock.

"But sir, who wanted me to be fired. And for what reason?" Wen asked the man desperately.

He had been job hunting for a month and he had finally managed to get a job but now he was being fired again.

"Well, if you must know it was Xiao Lin who had told me to fire you in exchange for the money. I don't know what the relationship between you two is but I am really thankful for the money that you brought me. And here's your salary for the days you worked here." The owner said with a smile as he gave him an envelope.

Wen was speechless when he heard the owner's words as he was yet again jobless. And it is due to Xiao Lin that he is now again in this state. Not being able to say anything to the man he just took the envelope and left the restaurant with his head down and depressed due to losing his first job.

'Why is this happening to me?' Wen thought to himself as he walked.

He reached his apartment and went inside his room where he sat on the floor with a depressed look as he looked at the envelope. He opened it and saw that it didn't have that much money inside it which frustrated him as he grit his teeth.

"Why can't you just let me live?" Wen asked knowing full well that he won't get an answer as he lay on the floor.

Time skip

It has been almost 3 months since his divorce with Lin, alongside him trying to get a job. He had been trying to get a new one ever since he was fired from the restaurant. But he wasn't able to get one as his money was also depleting quickly as he only has enough left to last him maybe 2 weeks or so.

"Even though I tried to lessen the money I spent, I only have this much." Wen said as he looked at the money he has left in his account.

He sighed before he left his apartment to get some fresh air. Hoping that it will help take his mind off the recent problems that he was facing. It seemed to be working as he was getting calmer but then he stopped when he saw someone he never expected to meet as his eyes widened.

It was Xiao Lin, he was sure of it. Even if she was using clothes and a big hat as a disguise he knew who she is as his eyes were on her. Lin seemed to have felt his gaze as she looked at his direction as she caught sight of him. But she was surprised when she saw him as her eyes widened a bit.

"Wen?" Lin said in a surprised tone.

"Xiao Lin." Wen said back as his became worse.

After that the two of them were at a cafe in a table, mostly because Lin had wanted to talk to him and he didn't want to know what would happen if he refused. They stayed silent as neither said a thing.

"I suppose you won't be talking so I will start. It has been a while Wen, and it looks like you're doing good." Lin said to him with a smirk as she has a prideful face.

'She is showing me that face. Is she rubbing it in how she has made me jobless?' Wen thought to himself as he looked at her.

"What's wrong? I had greeted you so it's common courtesy that you do the same. Or are you too nervous to talk." Lin said to him not forgoing her prideful face and tone.

"I'm doing fine I guess." Wen said in a soft tone.

"Really now? Did you get a job? It is almost 3 months now." Lin said to him with a smirk.

"I... don't have a job." Wen said as he looked down.

"Heh. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything less. You were always like this." Lin said with a smile.

"What do you want to say to me?" Wen asked her as he looked at her.

"Nothing much. I was going on a stroll when I saw you. But I must say that I'm disappointed at how you are still unable to get a job." Lin said to him with a smile.

"Is that so? I heard that your company is doing well and that your relationship with Zhang Huan is getting better." Wen said to her as he looked at her.

"Of course, we are doing fine. Compared to before my family has regained it's reputation and status." Lin said with a confidant smirk.

"Good for you then." Wen said as he grumbled.

"Are you bitter about the fact that you aren't able to get a job? Then again, I'm hardly surprised, you weren't that remarkable when we had met and this just proves that without me you aren't worth much." Lin said to him with a smile.

Wen just grit his teeth at her insult but he didn't say anything as he knew that it wouldn't make any difference.

"If you want, I can get you a job. You are my former husband so I am willing to help you." Lin said to him with a smile.

'She is now telling me that she will get me a job when it was due to her that I am jobless.' Wen thought to himself in anger.

"Well, what is your decision?" Lin asked confidantly.

'He will accept it. He can't go on without a job.' Lin thought to herself with a smile.

"No thanks." Wen said to her as he glared at her.

"Huh?" Lin said surprised at his words and actions.

'Why is he glaring at me? I just gave him an opportunity to get a job.' Lin thought to herself when she saw him.

"If the only reason you talked to me was so that you can mock me and insult me then I don't need or want to stay here any longer. Bye." Wen said a bit angrily before he stood up from hi seat.

Lin watched with a surprised face as he walked away from her as she looked at him.

'This is the first time I'm seeing him like this. Well, he's gonna have no choice but to come and ask me for help in the near future.' Lin thought to herself confidantly as she watched him leave.

'Who does she think she is? I've been working to the best of my abilities. She can't just say that my efforts are meaningless, especially if she is the reason I am not getting any jobs. I need to go home.' Wen thought to himself frustrated as he went on his way.
