Chapter4

#Chapter4

Everything stops for a moment; I forget to breathe and blink, my entire focus on one small, pale hand in mine.

A hand which just twitched.

/"Sophie?/" I breathe out, inspecting her face, but it's like nothing ever happened.

Maybe it was just my imagination after all.

No, it couldn't have been. I definetly felt her hand twitch.

To comfirm my thought, amazingly, her hand twitches again.

I feel the goosebumps spread all over my body and tears flow in my eyes.

/"Sophie! Sophie, wake up, please!/" I start basically shouting and have to restrain myself from shaking her shoulders, I simply sqeeze her hand.

/"Baby, please, you need to wake up, please, please, please-/"

/"Sir, you need to quiet down./" a nurse comes into the room with a frown on her face and I look at her, wide eyes and mouth, wiping away the tear that managed to escape my eye.

/"She moved! Her hand flinched! Twice!/" I rapidly explain, anxious for her to do something, anything, and she hurries off when she registers what I said.

I turn my attention back to Sophie, knowing that I will soon be pulled away from her.

/"Baby, please, I love you so much, you need to wake up. I-I need you here with me, it's been literal fucking hell. Please, I'll give you anything, just wake up./" I beg her, continuously kissing her forehead and her lips.

And so the lion turns into a lamb.

/"Sir, I need you to step out of the room so that the doctor can perform an examination./" the same nurse says and I shake my head.

/"No, I'm not leaving the room./" I say and I can practically see her roll her eyes.

/"Well, than I'll be forced to call security and escort you out of here. Just save yourself the trouble and leave, please. We'll inform you if anything happens immediately./"

When she finishes, the doctor walks in and I know I've lost this game.

Better leave now than to be banned from visiting her.

With a dramatic sigh and eyeroll, I leave the room and sit on the chair right outside.

I can't stand sitting for more than a minute, so I stand up and walk up and down in front of the room.

I can't remember the last time I've felt so helpless inside.

Sophie's P.O.V.

I sit down on the ground, crying to myself.

The warmth in my hand had left me again, and I just don't have any will anymore.

The first time it had happened, about an episodes ago, I screamed and ran around this goddamned hopeless place, yelling at everything and nothing to make it come back, and then when I curled on the floor, my energy dying, it came back.

The happiness was unexplainable, I was so happy that somehow a small spotlight of light broke through the darkness.

I know it's dumb, but the warmth is the only thing which makes me feel less alone.

Now that it's gone again, I stump around like a child who didn't get what she wanted.

/"I hate you!/" I scream with all might around the endless space. /"Let me leave!/"

I feel the tears burn in my eyes. /"I don't want to be here anymore! I don't!/"

The breathing becomes harder and I feel myself start to hyperventilate, almost like a panic attack.

/"Just let me go./" I whisper to myself as my breathing slowly calms down. /"Please./"

Instead, another episode flashes in front of me. If I haven't just gone all crazy, I wouldn't react so calmly towards the scene, but I'm so tired that I don't even sit up.

I look horrible; I am pressed against some building and a man is cornering me.

He looks familiar, but I can't place him; however, he's definetly not Axel.

He touches me all over, and it's obvious that I'm not enjoying it.

Is he going to rape me?

He rips off my shirt in the dark anneyway and I almost cover my eyes, but then the camera changes direction and points to ... Axel!

Yay!

I clap my hands in excitement as I watch him beat the bastard up, which I recognize is her boyfriend and the episode finishes when Axel hugs me.

I sigh, wishing my life was this exciting.

Axel's P.O.V.

/"What's going on?/" Beatrice rushes towards me and I give her a quick glance.

Why the fuck is she here?

/"She flinched. Her hand flinched./" I mutter a reply and she gasps and turns to look at coach who I didn't even notice was there.

/"Oh my god! Did she wake up?/" she asks and I shrug.

/"Dunno. They haven't informed me of anything yet./" I say.

I knew that if I left that fucking room, I wouldn't know shit about what's going on.

I stand up and start pacing again. If those fuckers don't give me any information in the next five minutes, I'm barging in and I don't give a shit if they kick me out.

Who the fuck even does leave people to not know shit about their lived one?

Fucking assholes, that's who.

I sigh and watch Beatrice sit down, carefully following the clock on the wall. As soon as it hits midnight, I'm going in.

One minute left.

/"She must be okay./" coach says and puts his hand on my shoulder. /"Calm down./"

I glare at him. /"Well, I don't know if she's okay, do I? If anyone would be kind enough to tell me that, I would, but as it is, I don't know shit./" I say the last part much louder, hoping any of the doctors hear it.

30 seconds left.

/"Well, I'm sure they're doing their best. Do you want to sit down?/" he presses on.

/"No, I don't want to sit down./" I roll my eyes. /"Does it look like I do?/" I take a deep breath, glancing at the clock.

Five.

Four.

Three.

Two.

One.

/"That's it, I'm going in./" I start to head towards the door, but before I can get my hand on the door handle, the door swings open.

A pale looking nurse comes out, and my nerves go up by a hundred percent seeing how shitty she looks, until she smiles.

/"You may want to sit down./" she says to me. /"I have some news./"

I know enough to listen to her so I sit down and anxiously look at her.

/"This might come as a shock./" she says slowly and I take a deep breath, preparing for what she might say.

/"But we caught another heartbeat, not just hers./" she says and my mouth falls open.

She didn't lose our baby?
