The Grind Begins

Josh became excited at the notification and began to think of ways to become stronger and possibly overcome Quinton, at the current rate he was going he couldn't even fathom the possibility of defeating Quinton in a battle of strength. He needed to train if he wanted to be able to face him, currently he is 5 foot 7 inches and weighs 235 pounds. He knew that he was overweight but considering his financial instability, family life, and bad lungs he didn't know what to do about it. He couldn't even afford to put food on his plate half the team let alone go and work out. He felt a bit discouraged at first as he pondered his options, although the system told him he would be able to train himself at an inhumane pace he didn't know how fast he would be able to improve himself.

Josh realized the main issue he, he had no place to reside at currently, he was homeless. He would get his paycheck in a little less than a week, but even than it wouldn't support him if he decides to live on his own, and that is hoping that Quinton doesn't ask for it. The first priority at this point in time is making enough to settle into a single person apartment and start training. "Hey system, how could I make enough money to support myself with my current knowledge and expertise?"

[Josh, you have the ability to see into the future, you could literally do anything at this point.]

"Oh, that's a good point" Josh remarked "wait, there must be some kind of limitations, that would be ridiculous if I can just see into the future endlessly."

[The duration of how long you can see into the future is completely dependent on your stamina whereas how far forward into the future you can see is dependent on your intelligence, both of which are below average so you won't be able to see far into the future nor can you look for very long before running out of energy]

"You don't have to say that I am below average, I already know" Josh pointed out to his system blatantly irritated by its choice of words. The system didn't reply and left Josh to his own thoughts. Josh decided to check the future for a second to determine how it functioned and what his limits were.

[Future Sight : Active]

Upon seeing this notification in the top left corner of his vision he realized that he was in his school where Quinton was picking on him in the lobby, Josh didn't recall that event happening and looked at the calendar on the office lady's desk and realized that it was a day into the future. Josh had the vision for approximately 3 seconds before he came back to his current reality which was still sitting in his afternoon classes. Josh realized his power as well as its drawbacks, he currently felt like he hadn't slept the night before and was struggling to stay conscious. Josh approximated he could maintain the vision for 4 seconds of the next day but that was pushing it, he already felt like his body was collapsing after only 3 seconds into the future. He had no idea that using his ability would have such severe consequences. He felt like he could use it to check something for a second or two, but that was the extent he felt comfortable with. He didn't dare to attempt over 4 seconds as he felt that the consequences could catastrophic.

Josh struggled to stay conscious in his afternoon classes due to his poor night's sleep the night prior and his attempt at using Future Sight. He had to find somewhere he could stay ASAP. He was extremely tired at this point and doubted he could do much with the final couple hours of the day. He didn't dare to go back to the alley he used to share with Pip, for all he knew the thin man could still be there. He decided to go to the 14th districts vast forest and fix up a spot to rest in the solitude of the forest. The 14th district relied off of its vast forests to supply wood and building supplies so naturally it wasn't easy to get in. Josh knew of this and had been fortunate enough to find a small opening in the wire fence surrounding it, it was just barely large enough to fit Josh's pudgy figure through. "How convenient" he thought.

The lumbermen would have returned to their own homes by now, after all it was almost 10 oclock. He had been searching for an entrance for around 3 hours, and was near passed out by the time he finally found one. He managed to get into the general area and spotted a temporary lumberjack camp that they would take breaks in, it wasn't huge but it was large enough to fit ten to fifteen people with ease. He knew they wouldn't lock it, why would they? It was surrounded by wire fence and its not like it contained any valuables, for Josh on the other hand this was one of the best treasures he could find considering it contained a couch and a small supply of snacks. Josh figured as long as he left before the lumberjacks returned the next morning there wouldn't be any issues so he settled on the couch and began to drift off. Compared to the tree he was sleeping in the night prior this had felt like the most comfortable piece of furniture he had ever slept on.

"Were we able to cut that giant tree in the northern section of the forest yesterday? I know we got close."

"Yeah, we chopped it right before we left for the night. We have been working on that thing for months on end, I'm so glad it has finally been quelled."

[Danger Vision : Active]

Josh who had been sleeping a bit too soundly woke up to the notification from the system, he heard faint voices in the distance getting closer and closer to the break room.
