Chapter 02

(Saber): "Why you?"

Saber was really exasperated by [Renard] who appeared before them, it was obvious to Bell that they knew each other. Caster looked around and noticed the state of the church a little sad.

(Caster): "Umm ... this place really needs a renovation, a temple for the gods shouldn't be in that state"

(Bell): "I'm sorry, we can't afford to make a renovation!" - Bell said when he bowed

(Caster): "Ahh, no, no need to worry, Husband"

Bell was surprised by the way Caster called him, at that moment both Hestia and Saber stood between Bell and Caster and started to scream.

(Hestia): "What did you just call Bell for? You just arrived!"

(Saber): "Since when are you so aggressive to talk to the Praetor, Caster?"

(Caster): "Saber!? It's really you? I didn't think I would meet you again ..." - Caster was really surprised with Saber standing in front of her so she faced Hestia - "Since when the [Gods] came down to the mortal world? And why is this temple in that state? "

(Hestia): "First question, it's been a millennium. Second question, it's not like I want the church in this state, it's that we are short of money ..."

(Bell): "Ah .. Miss Caster, is it?" - When Caster looked at him again he continued - "My name is Bell Cranel, this is my [Goddess] Hestia, and this, it seems you already know each other, is my first |Servant| Saber"

(Caster): "Hello, I'm the |Servant| of the 'Caster' class, you can just call me by the class, and you don't need 'Miss', Husband"

Caster's smile was really sweet, but after the last word the weather seemed to cool to below zero

(Bell): "Please, you don't have to call me Husband"

Caster seemed to be very saddened that, if the weather was not so cold, he would remove what he just said, at least she realized the reason for the request.

(Caster): "Then I will call you Master"

(Bell): "You can call me only by my name" - Bell was very embarrassed to be referred to as a master

(Caster): "Unfortunately it won't be possible, or one or the other" - Caster had a determined look on his face when he said that

(Bell): "So Master, and, Caster, it may be a little sudden but would you like to join our [Family]?"

(Caster): "Ah Master, are you already proposing to me?" - he said with an embarrassed face and a soft voice

(Hestia): "This is not the type he is talking about!"

(Saber): "Control yourself Caster!"

As the discussion looked like it would take a long time Bell sat on the bench waiting for things to calm down.

After they calmed down, formed a contract with Caster and explained what he meant by joining [Family], they went to the underground room, and while giving them leftover food they still had, she explained the history of this world to help both Saber and Caster adjust to this world.

(Saber): "What are these things?"

(Hestia): "Jagamaru-kuns! They are very popular. Everyone in the town knows him!"

(Caster): "... An offering made, not by a priestess, but by the [Goddess of the Fireplace] ... This is delicious!"

(Hestia): "See?"

(Saber): "The [Gods] of this world came down to earth and created these [Family], giving them a better chance to survive the monsters that are born from |Dungeon|, I don't know what surprises me most, hearing it from my mouth from a [Goddess] or learn about |Holy Grail|. "

(Hestia): "It was very boring up there, and with so many [Gods] already going down to work in relation to the souls of those who died, they stayed for those who stayed up there."

(Caster): "[Goddess] Hestia, did you comment famously [Family], like Zeus and Hera ... only the [Greek Gods] came down? Didn't any [Japanese God] like Izanagi, Izanami or even Takemikazuchi come?"

(Hestia): "I still don't understand this business of [Greek Gods] and [Japanese Gods], but Take is my friend, if you want or I can introduce you later."

(Caster): "I would love to, the temple that I stayed in was close to a temple dedicated to [God] Takemikazuchi, but from what I understood belonging to a [Family] is necessary for most things in the city, isn't it?"

(Hestia): "Yes, the [Guild] manages most things and, although ordinary people can live here long enough, being in a family allows you to access more functions in the city and you receive a lot of direct support from the guild itself. Even the money changer is available only to registered [Adventurers]. "

(Caster): "I see, so how do I join your [Family], [Goddess] Hestia?"

(Hestia): "Are you really going to join our [Family]?"

(Caster): "Of course, after all Mestre is here, the least I can do is stay by your side."

Hestia was a little sulky, but Bell was overjoyed, after all, in a single day his [Family] gained two new members.

(Caster): "I could but the church would have a slightly oriental appearance, a little similar to the temples where I stayed, but as the Master already has two |Servants| me and Saber, I think it will not be safe for me do this, so I ask the Master to wait until the Master's magical power increases further. "

(Bell): "Ah .. so it's possible, and Caster, you're a [Renard], aren't you?"

(Caster): "This is the first time that I hear that term Master."

(Hestia): "There is a race called [Anthropomorphic Animals] in this world, which are basically people with animal characteristics in general, but the other nomenclatures depending on the animal that is based, for example, those that have wolf characteristics are [Werewolves ], [Renards] are the ones with fox characteristics. "

(Caster): "If so, then yes, I am a [Renard]. Why the question, Master?"

(Bell): "It may seem impolite but ... why do you have two tails?"

When Bell said these words, Hestia faced the part where the tail of the [Anthropomorphic Animals] would be, and in fact, instead of just one tail there were two.

(Hestia): "How is that possible?"

(Caster): "Actually Master, I don't only have two tails, I have nine."

In saying these words, Caster's two tails stood up and opened in the same way as a peacock, when he finished Caster really had nine tails. Bell and Hestia were shocked, Saber as he had already met her and already knew a little about her story, remained calm. Hestia recovered from the shock and said

(Hestia): "Caster you better leave only one tail, although it is rare to see [Renard] around here, there has never been seen [Anthropomorphic Animals] with more than one tail, we don't know what other people will be able to do with you . "

(Caster): "Alright then"

When I said that the nine tails seemed to come together and in the end, Caster had only one tail

(Caster): "Master, do you have any interest in summoning more | Servants |?"

(Bell): "I don't think I will summon anymore until I increase my magical power. But I would like to summon others, not only to help [Family], but also to learn how to be a hero."

(Saber): "Praetor, learning from ghosts may be good, but don't imitate us. You cannot walk on a path already taken. Your ideals and reasons must be yours, and only yours, to be able to walk your own path. To the title of [Hero]. Got it, Praetor? "

(Bell): "Yes!"

(Saber): "Ok then"

(Hestia): "Very well, Caster, follow me, I will give you my blessing"

Hestia guided Caster to the room where she gave the blessing to Saber and updated Bell's status. Less than five minutes later, the two return with Caster holding a scroll.

(Hestia): "Caster said the same thing as Saber about having two sources of energy, but one of her skills surprised me ..."

(Caster): "Master, would you like to see my status?"

(Bell): "Yes"

Bell stared at the scroll and then, eyes shining, turned to Caster and said excitedly

(Bell): "Caster, are you a [Goddess]?"

(Caster): "[DemiGoddess] is closer."

(Bell): "So your name is Tamamo ..."

(Hestia): "Really ... [Spirits] are really incredible, you can even prepare spells before casting them. Even knowing that the legend is based on [Humans], you are completely different from how Bell started . "

(Saber): "Ah Praetor, what time do you wake up?"

(Bell): "Five o'clock in the morning sharp! Grandpa put this custom on me from an early age"

(Saber): "Then tomorrow we will have training, I want to see how high your skills are and what Pretor can or cannot handle"

(Bell): "Okay, and around eight o'clock we go to the [Guild] to register you and Caster and go down |Dungeon| a little"

(Hestia): "So let's all sleep."

(Saber): "Actually [Goddess] Hestia, |Servants| don't need to sleep or eat"

(Caster): "I'm going to see if I can fix it up without spending magic power"

(Bell): "Are you all right?"

(Saber & Caster): "Of course!"

(Hestia): "So, at least rest, good night!"

But Bell still had some questions he wanted to know

(Bell): "Saber, Caster, is there anything else I should know about all this?"

(Saber): "Oh, actually, Praetor. I didn't tell you about |Command Seals| did I?"

(Bell): "|Command Seals|?"

(Caster): "Look at the back of your right hand Master"

When Bell took off his glove to look, he saw a red mark on it, it looked like a rabbit that was divided into three parts, when Bell looked more closely it looked like the rabbit was on fire.

(Bell): "What is that?" - The fact that that brand appeared out of nowhere

(Saber): "This is proof that you are a [Master], your |Command Seals|. As you can see, Praetor, you have three."

(Caster): "The |Command Seals| are spells that allow you to give orders to the |Servants| that are absolute, no matter what the order or the will of the |Servant| was, even if the Master uses one of those ordering that if we kill ourselves we would have no choice but to obey. "

(Bell): "I would never do such a thing!" - Bell practically shouted when he heard such a thing

(Saber): "We know Praetor, you can see that you are not like that."

(Caster): "But |Servants| are still people, they have their ambitions and desires, so in some cases |Servants| may even revolt if they can maintain themselves without a [Master], perhaps because of [Master] have acted in a way that the Servant doesn't like, etc., the |Command Seals| are more to keep us in line. "

While listening to their explanation of the |Command Seals|, Hestia tensed and slowly looked directly at Bell, her eyes were so cold they looked as if they could stab him and said in a very strained voice.

(Hestia): "Hey, Bell ... since you can give them an absolute order, and they are women, you better not ..."

(Bell): "I-I-I-I-I would never t-t-t-think of such a thing!" - Bell replied quickly while turning redder than a tomato.

(Caster): "If the Master wants something like that, just ask" - Caster added more fuel to this fire with that phrase while he had a big smile and one hand on her face

(Hestia): "That's it, now we're going to fall on the arm" - Hestia screamed in anger

(Saber): "Caster you are crossing the line" - Saber shouted while standing by Hestia's side.

Bell knew it was going to take so he went back to the room where everyone received the blessings, lay down on the couch and when he finally fell asleep the three women were still arguing with each other.

When Bell opened his eyes, everything was dark, darker than a night without a moon and stars. At a distant point, something started to shine and Bell started walking towards them. When he arrived at the source of the light he was shocked because there were two other Bells there. One of them had white hair like Bell, except that his hair seemed to shine and yellow eyes turned to golden, and a white cloud with golden edges hovered over his hands like his eyes that seemed to have the shape of a sword at the height of the chest, the other had black hair that could not be distinguished from the bottom and purple eyes like amethysts, and a black cloud with purple edges hovered over his hands, which also had the shape of a sword, also at the height of the chest.

They both looked at Bell with a serene smile.

(Bell): "Who are you?" - The surprise and fear in Bell's voice were evident, after all the other two had a sword each with them and Bell was unarmed.

They both just continued to stare at him with the same serene smile. Bell thought they couldn't speak. But those swords still caught Bell's attention, he felt he was seeing something incomplete but that was still enough to fascinate him. He wanted to examine them.

(Bell): "Can I see these swords?" Bell said this as he approached with his hand outstretched.

But the other Bells took a step back for every step Bell took forward without taking away those smiles. Bell just got more confused, the boys didn't answer him and didn't let him get close.

(Bell): "Do you have anything to say to me? Why don't you let me see these swords?"

(White Bell & Black Bell): "The moment of choice is approaching." - their voice was similar to Bell's but only a little thicker and seemed to have an echo

(Bell): "What are you talking about?"

(White Bell): "The objective you have, there are several ways to get there."

(Black Bell): "But how will this path be when you walk it?"

(White Bell): "Illuminated by the brightest daylight?" - he raised the white cloud to just below the eyes

(Black Bell): "Or covered by the darkest night?" - he raised the black cloud to just below the eyes too

(White Bell & Black Bell): "You will have to choose, and bear the consequences"

At that moment, Bell's conscience began to fade even though the questions were racing through his mind.

At five in the morning Bell got up with wide eyes.

(Bell): 'That dream was different from the previous ones'

When he calmed down a little, he looked around the room. Hestia was sleeping in the only bed they had while Saber and Caster were nowhere to be seen. Bell had a dream similar to this several times with the difference that there were no other Bells and the clouds were not sword-shaped, and whenever he tried to touch them they disappeared and he woke up. Bell sat on the couch for a while, remembering the first time he had those dreams.

The first time he was six and still lived on the farm with his grandfather, he even remembered what his grandfather said when he told his dream.

(Grandfather): "It seems that you are loved by light and darkness, this is rare. Well, you won't have to worry for now."

Now Bell saw that it was time to worry. Still with the dream in mind, he showered, dressed and left the room to see Saber, since they had agreed to practice early.

(Bell): "I just hope she isn't tired after that argument" - he murmured while yawning and rubbing his eyes to wake up fully

(Saber): "No Praetor, I'm not tired" - she was very excited when she said that

(Bell): "Saber! Where did you come from?" - Bell was so surprised that he almost screamed, there was only one path and the room was empty when he left, so how was Saber behind him?

(Saber): "I waited for you outside with that Dematerialization trick. But you wake up really early, Praetor, that's a good thing. Come on. Caster made breakfast and I got some things to help with the training, after we're going to practice. "

(Bell): "Right"

When they joined Caster, there was food on the table which surprised Bell, as the pantry is usually empty

(Caster): "Good morning, Master. Breakfast is ready." - she greeted him with a smile on her face

(Bell): "Where did you get the food from?"

(Caster): "When I, Saber and the goddess Hestia stopped talking, Saber and I decided to go out and get to know a little bit of the city, as some of the food stores were open I took the liberty of buying food as the expenses were empty. Are you angry? "

(Bell): "No, no, it's okay, after all we made a lot of money with <Minotaur>'s [Magic Stone]. I just didn't expect that. How far did you go yesterday?" - he said quickly as he sat down to eat

(Saber): "Not far from the church."

(Caster): "But people never stopped staring at me."

(Bell): "[Renards] are rare around here."

(Caster): "I see. So far I will be hunted ..." - She murmured the last part, but the expression that seemed to be in mourning worried Bell

(Bell): "Is there a problem, Caster?"

(Caster): "No, no, nothing to worry about, Master" - she said quickly as she returned to her previous smile.

Bell was tempted to ask, after all he wanted to know if he could help her since they were from the same [Family], but from the expression she made she decided to be quiet because she knew there were things you shouldn't ask, no matter how close they were they were, all he could do was wait for it to open. The three ate breakfast quickly, and then Bell and Saber went to work, while Caster cleaned things up. Bell found Caster's food simply delicious.

When they arrived in the backyard of the church, Saber turned to Bell.

(Saber): "Praetor, just out of curiosity, where did you get your knife?"

(Bell): "The [Guild] lends equipment and money 'to newbies, even though we have to pay them back later."

(Saber): "Very well, Praetor, let's see what you know how to do, but first I want to know how you prefer to fight?"

(Bell): "What do you mean?"

(Saber): "Do you focus more on attacking? Or defending? Or both?"

(Bell): "In both, I think."

(Saber): "Umu! Okay, now take what you think suits you the most there." - she said this while pointing to the church wall where she had several wooden weapons.

(Bell): "Where did you find all this?" Bell asked as he chose a weapon he liked since he didn't see a knife.

(Saber): "Umu! My uncle, Caligula, made weapons in our training and I ended up learning by watching him." - Saber said with a proud and nostalgic expression on his face.

(Bell): "Incredible." - Bell replied without taking his eyes off the weapons.

While still trying to choose he saw two cables that did not belong to any displayed weapon, when he removed the weapons that were on top he saw a pair of swords a meter long each and a width that gave an arm to the Bell. Bell was attracted at the time, and when he wielded both swords, he realized that they fit perfectly in his hands. Although the knife was comfortable to use, those swords were on another level.

(Bell): "I knew, I should have taken swords anyway." - He murmured while facing Saber who already had a long, thin wooden sword, the width was a little larger than the width of Bell's arm and the length was almost the size of Saber.

(Saber): "Dual grip, this will be interesting. Now Praetor, defend yourself"

After saying those words, Saber appeared in front of him with the sword above his head. Bell screamed and dived to the side just for the wooden sword to hit his back after a bow.

(Bell): "Ouch!" Bell rolled over and when he got up he was staring at Saber. The blow didn't hurt much, the scream came out more because of the surprise.

(Saber): "Praetor I said to defend myself, we just started."

(Bell): "Y-Yes."

After responding to Saber, he prepared for the next attack to come. Saber made the same previous movement with the sword above his head and lowered it, but this time Bell put the two swords together and made the long sword go to the right, but soon after this success he felt his feet leave the ground and a pain in the left side of his body before his head hit the ground he realized that Saber kicked him.

(Saber): "Praetor, don't focus on just part of your enemy. A battle is like a dance between you and your opponent. You have to pay attention to your opponent as a whole, that includes your weapon, your feet , even your free hand. " - she said this while waiting for Bell to get up.

(Bell): "Yes." - He got up without complaining.

Bell was not sure what to expect from training a [Hero], but he remembered Saber's comment about being trained from a young age and wondered if this was the same training she had, although he did not expect to be used as a punch bag all the morning. This served Bell to really understand the difference between the two. Bell wondered if Saber was a normal [Adventurer] what level would she be on?

An hour later, Bell was panting on the floor.

(Saber): "That is enough for today, Praetor. If we continue we will worry Miss Eina." - She said while putting the sword she used in training along with the other wooden weapons.

(Bell): "You are amazing, Saber. You are very quick, I couldn't even keep up with you." - he said as he sat down and took a deep breath.

Caster, who had been watching this training for half an hour, took that phrase as he leaves.

(Caster): "If Saber's speed is too much for you, Master, then you will find difficulties ahead. The fastest classes are the Lancer and the Rider." - She said while helping Bell to get up and clean him up a little.

(Saber): "Yes, despite my class, it is fast, I still lose to these two."

(Bell): "Wow"

This made Bell even more excited to get to know the other [Heroes], after all, in the skill it said that he could only have one of each class for now, that is, there would be an hour that he could summon others from the same class as Saber or Caster . At that moment a very loud and angry shout came from the church entrance with Hestia running towards the group.

(Hestia): "Why are you hitting Bell, Saber? And Caster stay away from him!"

(Caster): "I'm only helping the Master, Lady Hestia." - she said a little upset

(Bell): "And we were just training, [Goddess]! Just training."

It took a while to calm Hestia, but when they did the three decided to go to the Guild to register Saber and Caster. When they left each one said goodbye to Hestia.

(Bell): "Have a nice day, [Goddess]!" - Bell waved when he said that he followed the street to get to [Guild].

(Saber & Caster): "Take care, Lady Hestia" - both said at the same time, and ran to reach Bell.

(Hestia): "Very well! I have to work hard for my new children!" - she said while looking at the sky.

As they followed the path to the [Guild], Bell pointed out some milestones for the two |Servants| that were on each side, since they had come at night many were closed and they did not know what they were. As they walked, some people looked at them, to be more precise they looked at Saber and Caster, more at Caster than at Saber. First, both Saber and Caster were very beautiful and had beautiful bodies that even some [Goddesses] would be jealous of, second as Bell had commented, Caster could be considered a [Renard] and [Renards] drew attention to Orario for not having many. They both slowed down a little so they could talk, Bell looked at them as if wondering if there was something wrong, when they confirmed that they hadn't, he continued to guide them.

(Caster): "Was it just me, or did Mestre get faster during training?"

(Saber): "No, it was not imagination, he really got faster, even if only a little, at the end of the training. However I am more concerned with his armament, the Praetor is a natural in the double grip, but he only has one Knife."

(Caster): "We're going to have to work to get money for two of the same swords, aren't we?"

(Saber): "Yes, we are going ... eh?"

Both stopped at the same time when Bell was stopped by a girl in a green and white uniform, with gray hair in a bun.

She was delivering a [Magic Stone], one that she thought he had dropped ... despite the fact that he exchanged all of his [Magic Stones] yesterday when he was in the [Guild] with Saber.

(Caster): "It looks like that girl is keeping an eye on the Master" - Caster's eyes and her voice were very cold when she saw that scene.

(Saber): "How did she get that [Magic Stone]? These [Stones] are exchanged for Valis by [Adventurers], they are practically useless for civilians." - muttered a little angry with that scene.

Bell shows them both while explaining to the girl that he would only register new members of his [Family], and not go to |Dungeon| as she thought.

(Girl): "Have you ever had breakfast?"

(Bell): "Yes, I already did. Do you work here? At the 'Hostess of Fertility'?"

(Girl): "Yes, but we're not open yet."

Saber decided to lend a hand, she knew that Bell wanted to be a [Hero], and [Heroes] rarely belonged to just one woman.

(Saber): "So Praetor, we will come here when it is open for a celebration party!" - she said as she approached

(Bell): "Good idea, is the pub open at night?"

(Girl): "Yes, the moment it gets dark." - her eyes were practically shining

Both Saber and Caster had their suspicions confirmed with that look.

(Bell): "So after finishing our tasks, we'll see you tonight. If we don't make it, could you accept us tomorrow night?"

(Girl): "Mmm ... fair. But I hope to see you tonight!"

Bell blushed a little after that sentence, and the anger only grew on Saber and Caster, but as Saber had decided to help, she said.

(Saber): "Praetor, if you are going to court a girl you met just five minutes ago, it would at least defer to give his name to her."

Caster stared at Saber with a look of astonishment, while the other two blushed. Bell turned redder than the girl.

(Bell): "Ah .. right ... I-I am Bell Cranel. What's your name?"

(Syr): "Syr. Syr Flores. It is a pleasure to meet you Bell."

They continued towards [Guild], when they got far enough away from the pub, Caster couldn't stand it and spoke in a voice full of frustration.

(Caster): "Master, you already have me, and you still go after other women. And you Saber, how you can add more fuel to that conversation?"

(Saber): "Come on Caster, the Praetor wants to be a [Hero], and it is rare for a [Hero] tied to just one woman, it is better to help to make the Praetor have a harem and participate in it."

Bell blushed when he was with the girl.

(Bell): "Saber what are you talking about?"

(Caster): "This is true, I think this is really the best option." - she said this in a defeated voice.

(Bell): "How did you come to that conclusion?"

(Saber): "Ah, we have arrived."

(Caster): "This is Orario's most important place besides |Dungeon| isn't it?"

This change of topic was very welcome by Bell.

(Bell): "Yes. If you want to know more about the city or the world, the [Guild] has a large library that is open to all registered [Adventurers]. Although many do not go."

(Saber): "Many forget that knowing more can end up saving their lives."

As they passed through the doors, Bell caught sight of Eina at the usual counter and ran over to her.

(Bell): "Good morning, Miss Eina!"

(Eina): "Good morning Bell, are you here to register Miss Saber?"

(Bell): "She and Caster."

(Eina); "Two new members? Your [Family] is growing fast, good for you Bell."

Bell scratched the back of his head as he smiled when Saber and Caster arrived at the counter.

(Saber): "Hello Miss Eina, we will need one more form."

(Caster): "Nice to meet you, Miss Eina"

(Eina): "No problem. Would you both mind accompanying me? I'll do the orientation while you finish the registration."

Eina guided the two of them to a private room, where guidance on |Dungeon| approved by [Guild] for Saber and Caster. She summed up the story about |Dungeon|, how she constantly expelled monsters before the [Gods] came down and built the [Tower of Babel] with the seal and kept the monsters down there. She also gave details of the monsters that appear on the |Upper Floors|, and as new [Adventurers], they should not go beyond the |Fifth Floor| until they have better conditions.

(Saber): "Is the |Dungeon| the [Tartarus]? - she murmured, but even so Eina heard it.

(Eina): "How?"

(Saber): "Nothing. So |Dungeon| is a living entity that hates mortals and [Gods]?"

(Eina): "Yes. That's why the [Gods] are forbidden to get down in |Dungeon| as they can cause irregularities and make powerful monsters appear."

(Caster): "If there is so much danger involved, why didn't the [Gods] make the |Dungeon| disappear when they came down?"

(Eina): "I don't know how to answer that question, but currently, the [Magic Stones] of monsters are used as fuel for our machines, and these [Stones] are only found in monsters."

(Caster): "It is basically a mine, a mine that has to live dangers."

(Eina): "Yes."

(Saber): "Has anyone reached the bottom yet?"

(Eina): "No. The farthest they've ever gone was the [Zeus Family] before they were defeated and lost power fifteen years ago. I believe they made it to the |Fifty-ninth Floor|."

(Caster): "Is it because of their efforts that the [Guild] has so much information about |Dungeon| to pass on to the current [Families] that come to them?"

(Eina): "Many don't come like this, but that's what I believe."

Saber and Caster passed the forms to Eina. When Eina looked at the forms, she realized that the written name was different from what Bell called them, but she didn't care about that, after all there was a name there.

(Eina): "Everything is in order. You are officially [Adventurers]."
