The next day, Aria was sitting at a small table in the dining hall and eating alone.
She was wondering what was wrong with her friends. Joseph had blushed beetroot red when she went to his room in the morning to thank him for staying with her last night.
Jacob had told her that he had something to do and might be late when she went to call him for breakfast.
And Helen hadn't answered the door.
Aria was swirling the spoon in her soup when a black haired guy suddenly sat on the seat opposite her.
Aria gave him a tired smile, "Hii Adam. Going home today?"
The boy named Adam waved his hand, "Not today. I'm gonna stay for a few more days and get some extra sessions from Professor Iris."
"Trying to get ahead with extra sessions?" Aria chuckled.
Adam smiled, "Like anyone can get ahead of you. I'm gonna miss seeing you in the class. It was so fun with you there."
Aria smiled. Adam had been with her in her water precision class. "Likewise. I'm gonna miss your company too. Did you not pass this month?" she said.
Adam: "Oh I failed miserably!! The exam was so difficult!!! I can't believe I even tried to take it. I'm gonna make sure I'm perfectly ready before I attempt the exam again."
Aria smiled. Normally, she would have told Adam to take the exams even if he couldn't pass them, it would be a great experience.
But lately she had understood that her thoughts were not always correct and she should maybe let people decide for themselves.
Some other students called Adam from a few tables away and he signed to them before turning to Aria. "My friends are calling me. Care to join us?" he asked.
Aria gave an apologetic smile, "Sorry. But I'm waiting for Jacob."
Adam stood up, "Oh that's all right. Don't worry about it. I wanted to congratulate you on passing the three exams. And here. Susan asked me to give you this."
Saying this Adam handed Aria a note and said goodbye before walking over to his friends.
Aria frowned as she opened the note. Susan? Did she need something? Was she in some kind of trouble? Aria's mind went wild upon hearing that Susan had sent her a note. Reading the contents of the note didn't give Aria much peace of mind.
The note ran thus,
Hii Aria.
I hope you're doing well. You haven't been to the kitchens for a few days and I miss you a lot. Could you come to the kitchen door after breakfast? I really need to talk to you urgently.
Hope you do come.
Susan
Aria folded the note and slid it into her pocket. She stood up after a few minutes and keeping her tray away, headed out of the castle.
Aria soon reached the kitchens and saw Susan standing a few paces from the door. She was clearly nervous and was fidgeting with her apron.
Susan's face broke into a relieved smile as she saw Aria walking over. Aria's face also broke into a smile as she neared Susan. "Hii Susan. You wanted to see me?" Aria asked.
Susan nodded with a smile which seemed a bit forced. "You haven't been to the kitchens lately." she said.
