Aria hesitated, "Umm Professor, it is about something Helen said today. She....umm.....she....."
Professor Thomas said, "Aria, if you won't ask, I will not be able to answer. And I hope that you are not thinking about staying here the whole night, compromising your sleep. After all, we both have a very busy day ahead of us."
Aria sighed and made up her mind, "Professor, today Helen said something like letting rage take over. Losing control? I wanted to ask what exactly that means."
Professor Thomas: "Why, exactly what it sounds like. If someone let's their rage take over them and lose control of themselves."
Aria: "So, it happens to everyone?"
Professor Thomas: "It can happen to anyone. But this is not normal anger. When something very precious to you, something you cherish from the bottom of your heart, is threatened or harmed, people might get very angry and lose control of themselves."
Aria: "But why is it considered so dangerous?"
She could understand her own position, she would start bending all the four elements together if she ever lost control of herself, but why did others have to worry about it so much.
Professor Thomas shook his head, "If you can ask that question, I will have to believe that you never have seen anyone being taken over by rage? Losing control of themselves?"
Aria shook her head. It had happened to her once, but she had never seen it happen to anyone.
Professor Thomas: "Well you see, whenever a person loses control of their emotions, he becomes a hazard. If the rage is not quelled, the person will lay waste to anyone who crosses his path."
Aria: "But...Helen stopped when Jacob hugged her. Didn't she?" "And I stopped when Julia came in front of me." She added internally.
Professor Thomas nodded, "You did good observing that. Well you see Aria, you kids are still not mature. You don't have too much control over yourselves. If an adult with proper training was confronted with such an incident, he would not even have lost his temper. But you all still don't have much control of your emotions. That was why Helen flew into a rage, but was quick to calm down when she realised that she might hurt Jacob."
Aria: "So what happened to her.....was....."
Professor Thomas: "She did not completely lose herself. When one does, it is very difficult to bring them back."
Aria: "But surely it's not that much of a hazard. I mean, if someone does get taken over by rage, other bendors can overpower him and restrain him by force."
Professor Thomas smiled, "It is not so easy, you see. I will give you an example. Let us take Helen and you. At her current level, can you say that you can easily defeat her? Possibly without even using your hands?"
Aria stammered, "Well...she has a handicap, she can't see.....and well..."
Professor Thomas: "You are too kind. I'm sure at both of your current levels, you can do that. Now, if Helen flew into a rage, a true rage, one which could not be controlled and in which she would destroy you or Joseph or Jacob, whoever crossed her path. In that case, I can say with certainty that all even you would be able to do, would be to stand your ground and fight her equally, but never defeat her."
