Lucky child indeed

"It was a wonder that burns of such sever degree did not get much infected. A bigger wonder that they didn't reach your blood vessels. You are a lucky child." Miss Anhao spoke, noticing Aria looking at her wrists.

Aria only nodded upon hearing this and didn't say anything. Lucky child indeed. Though Aria was a positive person and could usually find good things in whatever happened, anyone would have difficulty calling her lucky if they knew all that she had gone through. Separated from her family, called a demon by the people she loved the most, and forever having to hide her true self from everyone around her, she was a lucky child indeed.

"I assume Joseph will be here after breakfast for your sessions?" Miss Anhao asked, getting up. Aria nodded and looked at her bandaged hands again, turning them over. Miss Anhao picked up whatever leftovers of Aria's breakfast and said, "I'll leave you to it then."

Aria plastered a smile on her face and looked in Miss Anhao's direction. Her smiles had become more and more forced during the past month, the fact hadn't escaped Aria and she suspected it had been noticed by Miss Anhao as well. But she didn't point it out as she rubbed her head and said, "I'll heat some water for your bath. Would you like to wash your hair too, it looks like it could use a wash."

Aria picked up a lock of her hair to check if it could go a few more days without a wash, it couldn't she decided. "I would certainly like too. And please don't heat the water too much, it's rather warm today." Aria said, flipping her hair over her shoulder to the back. Miss Anhao looked outside a window before she nodded. "Summer does seem to have come rather early this year." she muttered as she walked away.

Aria barely had time to wonder where was Joseph as she decided to lay back down. He was usually here before she even finished breakfast, ready to boss her around. Aria thought as she lay on her side, her back still hurt if she put pressure on it.

But she didn't have to wonder long. Aria heard footsteps and sure enough, Joseph face was visible the next second in the doorway. She had time to carefully hoist herself up in a sitting position while Miss Ahnao magically appeared from somewhere and began fussing about Joseph, making sure he was properly clean.

"It's really a miracle you didn't snap at her." Aria said with a badly contained smile as Joseph walked over to her bed. His eyes narrowed and his mouth pressed into a thin line upon hearing this. And he rather looked as if he was about to snap at someone.

But another miracle occurred as Joseph let out a deep breath. He shook his head and his lips pulled into a small smile as he said, looking around, "I assume Stephen was here." Aria nodded as she let out a rather long sigh. That boy didn't know when to give up.

Stephen had visited Aria this morning. He often did, and whenever he came, Stephen would bring a big bouquet of flowers, always in bloom and perfectly trimmed.
